A1 Auto Paint & Body Introduce

Located at 61 State Rd S-20-23, Winnsboro, SC 29180, USA, A1 Auto Paint & Body operates within the realm of "Auto Repair Stations," specifically focusing on cosmetic and structural vehicle repairs such as paint and body work. Local users in the Winnsboro area might consider this establishment for services related to collision repair, dent removal, and vehicle repainting. For direct contact, the listed phone number is (803) 718-1919, and the mobile number is +1 803-718-1919.

When assessing the environment at A1 Auto Paint & Body, it's crucial to rely on the experiences shared by customers, as these provide the most direct insight into the operational atmosphere. While a typical auto paint and body shop should maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment conducive to detailed work, the reviews for this specific location paint a concerning picture. Customers describe a process fraught with delays and alleged miscommunication. For example, one review details a car being held for "NINE months" for a job initially quoted to take "a few weeks," attributing delays to "ordered the wrong part" multiple times. This suggests an environment where organization and timely execution may be significantly lacking. Another review speaks of a paint job taking "over 3 months" with consistent unfulfilled promises of completion. Such extended timelines and apparent operational inefficiencies can lead to a frustrating and untrustworthy environment for customers, impacting their perception of the shop's professionalism and care for their vehicles.

A1 Auto Paint & Body, as its name suggests, is primarily focused on services related to vehicle appearance and structural integrity after accidents or damage. Their core services would typically include:

  • Auto Painting: Full vehicle repaints, spot painting, and clear coat application.
  • Body Work: Repairing dents, dings, scratches, and other cosmetic damage to the vehicle's exterior panels.
  • Frame Work: Repairing or straightening a vehicle's frame, especially after a significant collision, to ensure it meets original factory specifications for safety and alignment.
  • Panel Replacement: Replacing damaged body panels with new or salvaged ones.
However, based on customer feedback, the execution of these services has been a significant point of contention. One customer reported that after nine months and a "triple the price" bill, the "frame work was still not fixed," leading to ongoing issues with tire wear and vehicle alignment. Another described the paint job as "absolutely horrible," citing "pieces of grass in the roof," "countless runs, bubbles, bumps, rough patches, and cracks." Such accounts suggest that while the services are offered, the quality of their execution may not meet industry standards or customer expectations.

The features that distinguish A1 Auto Paint & Body, based on available information, are largely negative from the customer's perspective.

  • Extended Turnaround Times: A prominent feature, as highlighted by multiple reviews, is the exceptionally long duration taken for repairs, far exceeding initial estimates (e.g., "a few weeks" turning into "NINE months" or "over 3 months").
  • Alleged Poor Workmanship: Customers reported severe quality issues with both frame work and paint jobs. Examples include an unresolved "severely misshaped" frame preventing alignment, and paint defects such as "pieces of grass in the roof," "runs, bubbles, bumps, rough patches, and cracks."
  • Questionable Communication and Accountability: A lack of transparent communication is a recurring theme. Customers were allegedly not informed of issues (like cracked paint needing touch-up) until pickup. There are also claims of unfulfilled promises regarding completion dates and evasion, such as the owner being "too busy" for a critical part acquisition.
  • Alleged Discrepancies in Quoting and Final Pricing: One review noted the final cost was "almost triple the price that I was quoted," creating a significant financial burden.
  • Reported Instances of Theft/Loss: A highly concerning feature is the allegation of missing "subwoofers and amp" from a vehicle while in the shop's care, with the owner's alleged response of "someone must have broken into the car and stolen it" and disclaiming responsibility for lost or stolen items.
These features, as reported by customers, paint a grim picture, indicating a significant disparity between advertised services and actual delivery. The inability to resolve fundamental issues like frame damage or deliver a quality paint job suggests a profound lack of competency in their core services.

Regarding promotional information, no positive promotional details or offers are available from the provided data. In fact, the existing customer reviews serve as a strong warning rather than a promotion. The sentiment expressed by customers like "Don't walk, run away from this shop," "Please stay away," and "These guys are absolutely terrible and just put a hole in your pocket" acts as a powerful deterrent. While a business might typically offer competitive pricing, warranties, or special deals to attract customers, the reported experiences suggest that any perceived initial low cost (e.g., "$1500" for a paint job) might be overshadowed by severe quality issues, additional costs, and significant frustration. For local users in Winnsboro, the overwhelming negative feedback on transparency, quality of work, turnaround times, and alleged professionalism should be the primary consideration when evaluating A1 Auto Paint & Body for any vehicle repair needs. Potential customers are strongly advised to consider alternative options based on this available information.

A1 Auto Paint & Body Customer Reviews

I really wish I could give this place zero stars for the work and quality they put into my car. This rating is a little late but hopefully this helps others to stay away from this shop. I sent my car here about a year and a half ago to get some frame work done after my father gave them great reviews for a paint job they did on my mothers car. It soon turned into a nightmare with these guys. They quoted a time of a few weeks, after a month and a half of them having my car that I was currently paying a loan on, I called and they told me they ordered the wrong part and that it should be ready within the next couple weeks. The guys that work there obviously don't know what they were doing because they ordered the wrong part pushing back the time at least four times. At one point, my dad even had to go out to pull-a-part to saw off a panel of a car to use with mine because the owner was "too busy". NINE months later, I finally got my car back and it was almost triple the price that I was quoted AND GUESS WHAT? The frame work was still not fixed. Now here I am, no company is able to do an alignment on my car, not even a mom and pops type shop, all because it is still so severely misshaped. On top of it all, I am going through back tires every month and a half due to the frame. These guys are absolutely terrible and just put a hole in your pocket. I'm telling you guys, beware of them!

Don't walk, run away from this shop. Firstly, they took over 3 months to paint my car. I would call and ask him every week and he would always give me the same answer "it'll be finished by the end of the week." When I finally got the car back, the paint job was absolutely horrible. There are literally pieces of grass in the roof of my car. There are countless runs, bubbles, bumps, rough patches, and cracks. If I could give the paint job a rating itself it would be a zero. I could have done a better job myself with a spray paint can and some sand paper. Also, when I received the car back, I noticed that my $300 subwoofers and amp were missing from the trunk. I asked him about it and his answer was "someone must have broken into the car and stolen it." As consolation, he agreed to pay half of the cost but told me that they don't take responsibility for anything lost or stolen from the car. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this shop. It was a fairly cheap paint job at $1500 but the quality of work is horrible. I wouldn't pay the guy $1 to do it again. It looks worse than before in my opinion. I regret ever stepping foot in his shop and will never ever recommend him to anyone. Please stay away.

Tom and Red did a fantastic job painting my Toyota Tacoma. They exceeded expectations in every way: price, convenience, hospitality, communications..and of course, painting. They removed all rust and dings, and completed the work sooner than expected. I strongly recommend A1 to anyone needing a high quality paint job at an affordable price.

I had came across this shop after doing some research and calling various shops around Columbia who were booked up with work for the spring. I had a Camaro that had been sitting in another shop for over a yr due to various issues with the owner and just need a Prime and Painting for finish the work. A1 had various ads posted on Craigslist with pics of their past work so I gave them a call. The owner came to Columbia and picked up the car and took it back to Winnsboro. I followed him out to his shop and looked at other projects he currently had going on and met the staff. We had a minor discussion about a bad review that was posted and he was very forthcoming and even showed me the car in question and I was satisfied with his side of the issue and moved on. The car was painted 2 weeks later and once the work was started the owner stayed in contact with me daily with pics and texts of the work in progress. I sent him a check to pay for the work which including adding an aftermarket spoiler which required minor mods to get it to fit. Needless to say I was well satisfied with the job and will prob follow up with him soon for some other work. A1 was very professional and did the work in a timely manner in my case. Keep up the good work A1. I m a satisfied customer.

This is a fantastic body shop! I come from Lexington SC because these guys really know their stuff and do the impossible. I have had my Mazda Miata and Ford Mustang worked on and repainted here and the results each time were magnificent! Give these fellows a try...you will love the results. :)
