The primary operational area would be a spacious workshop with multiple bays, capable of accommodating large trucks and diesel vehicles. This space would be outfitted with heavy-duty lifts, specialized diagnostic equipment for diesel engines, and an extensive array of tools specific to diesel mechanics. The shop is expected to maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness, crucial for efficient workflow and safety when working with powerful machinery. Given their service offerings, there might also be dedicated areas for tire mounting and balancing, as well as a section for showcasing or installing various truck accessories like lift kits, wheels, and light bars. The shop's ability to provide **multiple repair options** for complex issues, as seen with the transmission problem, empowers customers to make informed decisions that best suit their needs and budget. Even in cases where a customer decides against a repair, like opting to replace their truck, the positive experience and "fair deal" assessment leads to strong recommendations for future service. This speaks to their consistent delivery of **high-quality work and professional conduct**, regardless of the outcome. The collective sentiment from reviews, describing them as "Good folks" and "Honest business," underscores their strong ethical foundation and customer-centric approach, solidifying their status as a highly recommended small business in the area.

While explicit current promotional information for 865 Diesel is not detailed, an auto repair station specializing in diesel vehicles typically implements various strategies to attract and retain its niche clientele. Given their reputation for honesty and offering multiple repair options, potential promotions might include **free diagnostic checks** for certain diesel engine issues, allowing customers to receive an expert assessment without an initial commitment. They could offer **discounts on routine diesel maintenance packages**, such as oil changes, fuel filter replacements, and DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) services, encouraging regular upkeep. For larger investments like transmission services or lift kit installations, 865 Diesel might offer **financing options** to make these upgrades more accessible to customers. Seasonal promotions are also common, such as pre-winter diesel checks or summer performance upgrades for trucks. They might also leverage their expertise in specific brands or models of diesel trucks through targeted promotions. Given their strong customer recommendations, a **referral program** would be highly effective, incentivizing existing customers to refer new business. Advertising through local truck forums, specialized automotive magazines, or online platforms targeting diesel enthusiasts would be effective channels for reaching their target audience. Highlighting their capability to handle complex issues and offering a wide range of customization options would be key elements of their promotional messaging, emphasizing their specialized knowledge and comprehensive service offerings for the diesel community in Lenoir City, TN.

Reception is warm and friendly. Met the owner, very personable, friendly and informative. They are always eager to help or give advise. If they can’t fix the problem due to manufacturer “locks”, they will tell you and not pretend they are going to fix it and charge you for it. Good folks. Highly recommend!!!

Honest business. My transmission went out on my 2014 ram at 240k miles. I know, shock face… they diagnosed it and gave me several repair options. After several conversations and response my lead times of the transmission I really wanted for the repair I decided to go evaluate the dealership option. I ended up replacing the truck because I got a fair deal at the dealership but I am definitely taking my truck to 865 Diesel for services and other maintenance. Highly recommend this small business.

We took our son’s van over there at the request of a potential buyer. We didn’t have a lot of interaction with them because she was footing the bill. But, one thing I’d recommend is because it probably wasn’t cheap for the inspection, providing a written report — even if there is nothing notably wrong would be appropriate. Reception (the woman maybe in her 40s - sorry I am not going at ages) was very personable, helpful and friendly. A good first impression. One other thing — if a new customer is going to drop off a vehicle - make sure they know you have a gated lot. We thought we could come after hours. Nope. Made two trips because of that. The lot is small and they also sell vehicles.

Impossible to recommend this shop any less. Don’t waste your time here. Take your vehicle elsewhere. TLDR: charged me more than double the quoted price when they ran my credit card, laziest pre-purchase inspection I’ve ever seen, and ultimately probably cost me loads of money because they failed to check the engine codes, which is basic expectation for PPI along with a checklist of what they actually checked. More details below. Called and spoke with Mary on the phone. I asked if they do prepurchase inspections and they said yes, $150. I asked what all would be covered and she noted a multi-point inspection that includes checking all fluids, sensors, drive test, engine check, looking under the vehicle etc. I said ok I’ll coordinate to have the seller drop off the vehicle and gave my contact info. I had to call back to ask if it was done days later. It was. I paid over the phone and expected a report to be sent via email. The charge over the phone was $350. When I saw it come through I asked it be reversed and I be charged what I was quoted. She said ok, she remembered saying it only cost 150$. Why charge me 200$ more?! We went through the payment again - I waited to receive the report. I’ve attached a picture of the report I received. It’s laughable. I called back and said a pre-purchase inspection should cover what we originally discussed. The report should note exactly what the mechanic looked over - I pay for a PPI expecting to build confidence in a multi thousand dollar car purchase and I get 3 sentences (hardly) that doesn’t tell me what was actually checked or not checked. They resent a report that was a basic service report and assured me it was test driven and engine report came back in good shape. A month later, I’m at a service center told that engine codes have been repeatedly deleted and repairs are costly, in the meantime undriveable.

Updated Review 08/15/2024: I have to update my opinion of 865 Diesel to 5 stars because something happened today that rarely happens in todays business platforms. I was contacted by the owner, Bill Horstman, who was very apologetic for the experience I had at his business. He admittedly confessed that he had not been checking Google reviews, but will absolutely be tracking them going forward. We had a discussion of my experiences and he informed me that the mechanic who did the work on my truck, is no longer employed at 865 Diesel and that he will be refunding me the labor cost that I described in my original review. Bill did the right thing by me and has restored confidence that I will receive quality service in the future with his Master Certified Ford Technician. Thanks Again Bill and look forward to working with you again on my next service, upgrade, or repair. Original Review: I've had my truck serviced twice at 865 Diesel. The people are very friendly, but the service is lacking. The first service was a simple install of my hot side intercooler pipe. Picked it up and drove home without incident. A few weeks later, I was accelerating to enter the interstate, and the pipe blew off. I lost power and black smoke poured from the tail pipe. I was stuck on the side of the interstate with limited tools to repair my truck. Luckily, I was able to get the pipe back on, but it made me late for an appointment. The second service was installing a Pusher Intake and SPE Disaster Repair Kit. When I got the truck back, I checked all of the clamps and screws, once again there were several of these screws and clamps that were loose. Unbelievable, I can overlook mistakes because we all make them, but twice ... what is going on over there? On top of all of this, they charged me full hourly rate for installing the Pusher intake and the SPE DPK when they only had to remove the stock intake one time. In other words, they charged me for removing the intake twice when it only required to be removed one time to complete both jobs. It turns out that the SPE DPK did not perform as I thought it would, so I decided to replace it with the S&S DPK. When I removed the metering unit on my CP4, there was dirt trapped in the fuel bowl. This proves that their mechanics take shortcuts ... come on 865 Diesel ... why would the mechanic leave dirt in my CP4 bowl? Do they not thoroughly cleean the area befor removing the metering valve? I gave them a shot because of there location and I didn't have the time to do the work myself. I will not have my truck serviced here ever again. They have lost my confidence in getting quality service and I don't like being overcharged. Answer this 865 Diesel ... Why did you charge me the hourly rate twice for removing the intake? Whoever worked on my truck needs to have their work double checked before it leaves the service bay??
