Shell Introduce

For drivers across Connecticut, especially those in the Bloomfield area, a gas station is a familiar and frequent necessity. Navigating daily commutes, school runs, or weekend excursions often means needing a quick and reliable place to refuel. Modern gas stations, beyond simply offering gasoline, have evolved into convenience hubs, providing an array of snacks, beverages, and other essentials that cater to the fast-paced lifestyle of Connecticut residents. The Shell station at 47 Jerome Avenue in Bloomfield is one such local establishment that aims to serve these varied needs.

The Shell station on Jerome Avenue is a known entity for many in Bloomfield, serving as a consistent source of fuel and quick provisions. As with any long-standing local business, it develops its own unique characteristics and attracts diverse customer experiences. Understanding what this specific Shell station offers, its practical accessibility, and what other local patrons have shared about their visits can help you make an informed decision for your next fuel stop. This article will provide a clear, factual overview of the Shell station, drawing on publicly available information and community feedback to offer a comprehensive picture for Connecticut drivers.

Location and Accessibility

The Shell gas station is located at 47 Jerome Ave, Bloomfield, CT 06002, USA. This address places it on a busy corner near a signal-controlled intersection, suggesting high visibility and a location that is part of a regular traffic flow in Bloomfield. While it benefits from "two entrances/exits being on a busy corner," its accessibility has also been a point of feedback from local customers.

A customer review indicates that this particular station is an "older one, and is much less accessible than one would hope." Specific concerns include "pumps that don't reach around to both sides of a minivan" and limited "regular parking." With only "4 pump stations," there's a potential for "frequently have to wait for one that can access your tank," or even "get boxed in if someone backs into the pump in front of you and you are at the pump near the back of the building." Furthermore, the tendency for "People to leave their vehicles at the pumps while they go into the store" exacerbates these accessibility issues. This feedback suggests that while the location on a busy corner seems convenient, navigating the station itself might require extra patience and planning for Connecticut drivers.

Services Offered

As a Shell-branded station, this location primarily focuses on providing various grades of gasoline, alongside typical convenience store offerings. According to Shell's official information for this address, customers can expect:

  • Fuel Sales: The station offers Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline, Shell Midgrade Gasoline, and Shell Regular Gasoline. Shell V-Power NiTRO+ is designed to protect against engine wear and corrosion, aiming to help vehicles run efficiently.
  • Convenience Store (Shop): There is an on-site shop, providing a range of convenience items for customers. While specific inventory details for this exact location aren't extensively provided, typical offerings at Shell convenience stores include:
    • Snacks & Beverages: A selection of chips, candy, energy drinks, bottled water, sodas, and coffee options.
    • Basic Automotive Supplies: Such as motor oil and wiper fluid.
    • Tobacco Products: Available for purchase, typically requiring valid age verification.
However, a critical customer review pointed to a significant issue with perishable goods, stating, "Most of the muffins were molded. So we got some Zingers. And they were molded too." This highlights a potential concern regarding the freshness and quality of certain food items in the convenience store.
  • Mobile Payment: The station supports mobile payment options, likely through the Shell App or other compatible platforms, offering a quick and contactless way to pay at the pump or inside.
  • ATM: An ATM is available for cash withdrawals, adding to the convenience for customers needing quick access to funds.
  • Air Pump: The location is listed as having an "Air" service, indicating the availability of an air pump for tire inflation.
  • Loyalty Program Acceptance: The station accepts Shell's loyalty program, which is the Fuel Rewards® program. This allows customers to earn savings on fuel (detailed further in the Promotions section).
  • Grocer Loyalty Accepted: This implies that certain grocery loyalty programs might be linked to offer fuel discounts, which is a common partnership for Shell.
Features / Highlights

While some aspects of this particular Shell station have drawn negative customer feedback, it also offers standard features expected from a major fuel brand:

  • 24/7 Operation: The station is listed as being "Open 24 Hours," providing around-the-clock access to fuel, which is a significant convenience for drivers in Connecticut, especially during off-peak hours or emergencies.
  • Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline: The availability of Shell's premium fuel product is a highlight for those seeking enhanced engine performance and protection.
  • Mobile Payment Options: The support for mobile payments streamlines the transaction process, offering speed and convenience at the pump.
  • Fuel Rewards® Program Integration: As part of the Shell network, this station allows customers to utilize the Fuel Rewards® program, offering opportunities to save on fuel purchases.

However, it's crucial to acknowledge the prominent concerns raised by customers, which can significantly impact the "highlight" perception:

  • Confined Space and Pump Reach: The station's older design leads to "pumps that don't reach around to both sides of a minivan" and limited "regular parking," creating challenges in navigating the forecourt, especially for larger vehicles. This design flaw can cause inconvenience and delays, particularly during busy times, and can lead to customers getting "boxed in."
  • Limited Pump Stations: With "only a total of 4 pump stations," the capacity is low, which contributes to wait times, particularly if vehicles are left at the pumps while customers go into the store.
  • Product Freshness Concerns: The review detailing "molded muffins" and "molded Zingers" points to a serious issue with the quality and freshness of perishable goods sold in the convenience store, which is a significant deterrent for customers seeking snacks or quick meals.
  • Overall Accessibility Issues: Despite having two entrances/exits, the station is described as "much less accessible than one would hope" due to its age and layout, even being on a busy corner.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For residents of Bloomfield, Connecticut, the Shell station at 47 Jerome Avenue serves as an accessible and consistently open option for their fueling needs. Its 24/7 operation is a significant convenience for those with varied schedules, ensuring fuel is always available. The presence of Shell's quality V-Power NiTRO+ gasoline and the integration with the Fuel Rewards® program offer tangible benefits for consistent patrons, allowing them to save on fuel purchases, a key concern for all drivers in Connecticut.

However, it's crucial for locals to be aware of the station's known limitations, particularly regarding its physical layout and pump accessibility. The feedback about limited parking, short hoses, and potential for congestion at the pumps suggests that customers with larger vehicles or those seeking a quick, stress-free experience might need to plan their visit carefully or consider alternative nearby stations for optimal convenience. Furthermore, the reported issues with the freshness of perishable items in the convenience store are a point of concern that customers should keep in mind. While it fills a gap as "one of the only stations in the immediate area," locals prioritizing ease of access and fresh convenience store offerings might find alternatives within a couple of miles more suitable, as suggested by local reviews. For a basic fuel stop with potential loyalty savings, especially at off-peak hours, this Shell remains a functional option for Bloomfield residents.

Shell Customer Reviews

This gas station has pumps that don't reach around to both sides of a minivan. There isn't much regular parking here either. It only has a total of 4 pump stations, so you frequently have to wait for one that can access your tank, or you can get boxed in if someone backs into the pump in front of you and you are at the pump near the back of the building. People tend to leave their vehicles at the pumps while they go into the store also, which exacerbates the problem. It has two entrances/exits being on a busy corner near a signal-controlled intersection, but this station is an older one, and is much less accessible than one would hope. Getting longer hoses would help a lot. There aren't any other stations in the immediate area, but if you can plan for it, the Bloomfield Stop and Shop gas station and Cumberland Farms are within a couple of miles in opposite directions, and are much better bets.

I wanted a muffin. Most of the muffins were molded. So we got some Zingers. And they were molded too. Not a happy camper

This gas station is the worst. They sell so many things that are expired. The cashier NAZ is extremely rude and unprofessional.
