Whether you're heading to work, picking up groceries, or just need to fill up, a well-located and equipped gas station can make all the difference. Pit Stop, a Sunoco branded station, aims to be that dependable spot for residents and travelers passing through Troy, NY.

A gas station is more than just a place to refuel; it's often a hub for quick necessities, a brief respite from the road, and a crucial part of the urban and suburban landscape. In New York, where traffic can be dense and time is precious, efficiency and a good range of services are highly valued. Pit Stop strives to meet these expectations, offering a range of amenities designed to make your stop as smooth as possible.

Location and Accessibility

Pit Stop is conveniently located at 1163 Hoosick Rd, Troy, NY 12180, USA. This address places it strategically within the Troy area, making it easily accessible for local residents and those navigating the broader New York region. Hoosick Road is a key thoroughfare, ensuring that drivers can find Pit Stop without significant detours from their routes.

The station's location on a main road means it's straightforward to get in and out, which is a major plus for anyone on a tight schedule. Its presence in Troy, NY, also makes it a practical stop for those traveling to or from Albany, Schenectady, and other nearby Capital Region destinations. For many New Yorkers, a convenient location is paramount, and Pit Stop's position on Hoosick Road certainly delivers on that front.

Services Offered

Pit Stop, as a Sunoco branded station, provides a variety of services typical of a modern gas station, catering to the diverse needs of drivers. While specific offerings can vary, based on public information for Sunoco stations and general gas station amenities in New York, you can expect the following:

  • Fuel Services: Pit Stop offers a range of fuel options to meet different vehicle requirements. This typically includes various grades of gasoline such as regular, midgrade, and premium unleaded fuel. For vehicles that require it, diesel fuel is also available. As a Sunoco station, they offer Sunoco Top Tier fuel, known for its detergent additives that help keep engines clean and running efficiently.
  • Convenience Store: Most gas stations today feature a convenience store, and Pit Stop is no exception. These stores are vital for quick purchases and often carry a selection of snacks, beverages, tobacco products, and other essential items. For those on the go, this means you can grab a quick bite or a drink without making an extra stop.
  • Loyalty Programs: Pit Stop participates in Sunoco's loyalty programs, such as Sunoco GoRewards and Price Chopper AdvantEdge Rewards. These programs allow customers to save on fuel purchases, often by earning points through in-store purchases or linking to grocery loyalty cards. This can translate into significant savings for frequent visitors.
  • Restrooms: Clean and accessible restrooms are a fundamental expectation at any gas station, especially for those on longer journeys. While not explicitly stated for this specific location, most well-maintained gas stations prioritize providing this amenity for customer comfort.
Features / Highlights

Beyond the basic services, certain features can enhance a gas station's appeal. Pit Stop offers elements that make it a practical choice for drivers:

  • Sunoco Top Tier Fuel: This is a significant highlight, as Top Tier certification means the fuel meets a higher standard for engine cleanliness and performance than what is required by federal law. For vehicle owners, this can contribute to better engine health and fuel efficiency over time.
  • Price Chopper AdvantEdge Rewards: The integration with Price Chopper's loyalty program is a notable benefit for those who shop at Price Chopper supermarkets. Earning discounts on gas through grocery purchases is a practical way to save money on everyday expenses.
  • Diesel Fuel Availability: The presence of diesel fuel caters to a wider range of vehicles, including many trucks and certain passenger cars, making Pit Stop a versatile fueling stop.

However, it's also worth noting some areas that, based on customer feedback, may require attention to further enhance the customer experience. Some past customers have reported issues with non-functioning receipt printers at the pumps, which can be an inconvenience for those in a hurry or who need a record of their transaction. Additionally, there have been mentions of window wash and paper towel dispensers at the pumps not being filled, which can impact the overall convenience for drivers. Issues with card chip readers at certain pumps have also been reported, suggesting potential for improvements in payment processing efficiency and reliability at the pump.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a Sunoco station, Pit Stop is part of the Sunoco GoRewards program. This program typically offers instant savings on fuel when you sign up and use your Sunoco Rewards Credit Card. Furthermore, the partnership with Price Chopper AdvantEdge Rewards allows customers to earn discounts on gas by accumulating points through their grocery purchases at Price Chopper. For example, earning 100 points at Price Chopper can translate to 5¢ off per gallon of gas at participating Sunoco stations like Pit Stop. These programs are designed to provide ongoing value to loyal customers.

While specific in-store promotions for the convenience store may vary and are best checked upon arrival, gas stations often run deals on snacks, beverages, and other common items. It's also been noted that Pit Stop has had "buy a breakfast sandwich get a coffee free" promotions, which can be a great value for morning commuters. However, it's important to be aware that the availability of these breakfast sandwiches might be inconsistent, as some customer feedback indicates they are not always readily available.

Pit Stop Customer Reviews

I don't know if they are lazy or they think they are being clever and trying to increase the foot traffic in their store, but none of the receipt printers in the pumps work! Also the window wash and paper towels at the pumps are not filled. And I've had problems at two or three pumps now having a chip read error. I don't gave any problems elsewhere with my card, so I know it's here that has the problem. So to the owners/management...there is nothing that peeves off your customers more than having to walk into the store for a receipt when they are in a hurry or hurting from physical problems. If you can't provide the essential services customers expect we will go elsewhere even if we have to pay more somewhere else. It just isn't worth stopping here if your card readers are broken or have the impression that they are insecure and you are playing games to get people to come into your store for over priced goods.

This location really doesn’t like making the breakfast sandwiches. Every couple days there may be 1 or 2 in there and you’d think they’d have more since they have “buy a breakfast sandwich get a coffee free” posted up all over the place. My only suggested is if it’s to order then just don’t do it no one is just coming to this location out of the blue on this road everyone is passing through to get to work nobody has time to wait guarantee you sell more if you have them ready

The deli made my sub. It was pretty good. The cold cuts were sliced fresh. The bread was fresh. The outside was crispy with a soft inside. The only thing I would change is the pickles. They really didn't have any flavor. The fries were made to order and you get a ton of them. The convenient store sides food needs work. The chicken nugget States like two day old McDonald's nuggets. They tasted just like McDonald's nuggets. The chicken tenders were old and stale as well. If you want food stick to the deli.

They intentionally mislabel prices so the cost at the register is always more than what is labeled at the rack. I have brought this up to management 4 or 5 times and they always had to correct the price at the register to reflect the lower amount at the rack. They no longer honor the actual prices at the rack and refuse to correct them. Their new brunswick deli that shares the same space has recently gotten in trouble for serving meat that had expired over a year ago. Go to Stewart's down the road

Expired food. We stopped and got some jerky and a lunchable today on our way through town and both were a month expired. Cashier was very friendly though. Think it is time check the dates! Tried to call, but number is incorrect on Google.
