Services Offered

As a standard Exxon gas station, the location at 1804 Edgewood Rd typically offers a range of services designed to cater to the immediate needs of motorists and local consumers. These services are generally consistent across Exxon branded stations, providing a familiar experience for customers.

The primary services available at this Exxon station generally include:

  • Fuel Sales: Offering various grades of gasoline for passenger vehicles. As an Exxon station, it provides branded fuel for cars and light trucks.

  • Convenience Store: A typical convenience store is on-site, providing a selection of everyday items. This usually includes:

    • Beverages (sodas, coffee, energy drinks, water)
    • Snacks (chips, candy, packaged goods)
    • Basic groceries
    • Tobacco products
    • Automotive essentials (wiper fluid, oil, air fresheners)

  • ATM Access: Providing cash access for customers, which is a common feature at many gas station convenience stores.

Features and Highlights

Exxon on Edgewood Road, like many branded gas stations, offers specific features intended to provide convenience for its customers. However, recent customer feedback suggests that while some features are present, their execution or maintenance might not always meet expectations.

Key features and highlights generally expected and observed include:

  • 24/7 Operation: This Exxon station is listed as being open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a significant convenience for drivers needing fuel or supplies at any time, especially during off-peak hours or emergencies.

  • Branded Fuel: As an Exxon station, it provides Exxon-branded gasoline, which often comes with a perception of quality and reliability for many motorists.

  • Convenience Store: The presence of an attached convenience store allows customers to purchase a wide array of items beyond just fuel, catering to immediate needs such as snacks, drinks, or basic car supplies.

  • Accepts Credit Cards: This standard feature ensures ease of payment at the pump or inside the store.

  • Restrooms and Parking: Basic amenities like restrooms and customer parking are available, contributing to a more comfortable stop.

However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised by recent customer reviews, as these highlight areas that can detract from the intended features:

  • Cleanliness Issues: Multiple reviews prominently describe the station as "dirty, dirty, dirty." This is a major concern for any public facility and can significantly impact a customer's comfort and willingness to use the convenience store or restrooms.

  • Higher Fuel Prices: A customer explicitly noted that the "gas was more expensive too! 5 cents more a gallon than the station across the street." Price competitiveness is a key factor for consumers, and this feedback suggests a potential disadvantage compared to local alternatives.

  • Customer Service Concerns (Lockout Incident): A specific incident highlighted a serious customer service lapse. A customer with a puppy locked in their car was reportedly told by staff to call the police and that assistance would cost "$50" for "less than 10 seconds" of help. This response, described as unhelpful and lacking empathy, severely impacts the perception of staff support and willingness to assist customers in distress.

  • Impact on Repeat Business: The negative experiences, particularly the lockout incident, have led customers to state they will "no longer bring my fleet vehicles here daily" or "will no longer use this station," indicating a loss of consistent patronage due to dissatisfaction.

These points suggest that while the physical infrastructure of an Exxon is present, the operational aspects and customer experience at this specific location may fall short of expectations.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

For residents of Edgewood, Maryland, the Exxon at 1804 Edgewood Rd offers the fundamental convenience of a local, 24/7 gas station and convenience store. Its strategic location on Edgewood Road makes it easily accessible for daily commuters and those in the immediate vicinity, providing a readily available option for fuel and quick purchases without needing to travel extensively.

The primary suitability lies in its around-the-clock availability and the brand recognition of Exxon, which for many implies a certain standard of fuel quality. For quick stops to refuel or grab a snack at any hour, the station serves a basic, essential purpose in the community. The presence of a convenience store also allows locals to pick up last-minute items, potentially saving a trip to a larger grocery store for minor needs.

However, it is crucial for locals to be aware of the significant concerns raised in recent customer feedback. The recurring comments about the station being "dirty, dirty, dirty" are a major deterrent and suggest a need for substantial improvement in cleanliness standards. Furthermore, the reported higher fuel prices compared to competitors across the street, coupled with serious customer service issues—particularly the refusal of assistance during a car lockout situation without a significant fee and the suggestion to "call the cops"—indicate areas that severely detract from the positive aspects of a local business. These factors have led some customers to explicitly state they will no longer frequent the station, including for regular fleet vehicle needs.

In summary, while the Exxon on Edgewood Road fulfills the basic functions of a gas station with convenient hours and location, locals should approach it with awareness of the reported challenges regarding cleanliness, pricing, and, critically, the level of customer support. For quick, transactional needs, it may serve its purpose, but for a consistently positive and reassuring experience, especially in unexpected situations, locals might consider exploring alternative options in the area.

Exxon Customer Reviews

We have been driving north from Tennessee. All the gas stations we have stopped at were immaculately clean and friendly. We are now in Maryland and the situation is completely the opposite. This station is dirty, dirty, dirty. The gas was more expensive too! 5 cents more a gallon than the station across the street. Ugh.

Today. I went in to get gas, I come here on a regularly. My pup decided to lock the door while I pumped gas door was cracked but enough to lock. (Yes my fault) I went inside.asked if they had anything I can use . They said yes but it will be $50. I said it will take less than 10 seconds . A 15 week old puppy is locked in the car. They said call the cops. Thankfully a nice gentleman pulled in and was able to help. I will no longer bring my fleet vehicles here daily.

I find the prices to be a little higher than other nearby Exxons but their advantage is they’re open 24hrs, whereas I’ve noticed the other ones close at night around maybe 10 or 11. Not an option for me as I work overnights sometimes and need gas options around the clock

Don't believe the lies people tell here Their prices are .65 higher than the norm. If yoy get off this exit. Go one more light east and there is a Royal Farm where the gas is .50 cents cheaper.
