Features / Highlights

The Byrne Dairy and Deli on State Fair Blvd has several key features that contribute to its role in the Syracuse community, alongside areas where customer feedback indicates opportunities for improvement:

  • Extensive Fresh Food Menu: A major highlight is the impressive breadth of freshly prepared food options available from the deli. This goes far beyond typical gas station fare, offering full meals including sandwiches, hot foods, pizza, and breakfast items, making it a true quick-service restaurant.
  • Byrne Dairy Quality: As part of the Byrne Dairy family, the location provides access to fresh, high-quality dairy products directly from the local dairy, a trusted name in Central New York.
  • Convenience and Accessibility: Its strategic location on State Fair Boulevard ensures easy access for locals and visitors alike, facilitating quick stops for fuel and food. The ability to order online for pickup or delivery (via DoorDash) further enhances convenience.
  • Value for Diverse Needs: The combination of a gas station, a full-service deli, and a convenience market means customers can fulfill multiple needs in one stop, from refueling their car to grabbing a meal or a snack.
  • Opportunities for Improved Efficiency in Order Fulfillment: Customer reviews specifically highlight issues with online order readiness. Phrases like "immediately followed by it's ready now" when the food isn't, and consistently waiting "another 20" minutes after being told "15 minutes," point to significant inconsistencies in kitchen or counter management, particularly during evening hours.
  • Concerns about Food Quality/Preparation Consistency: One reviewer noted receiving a breakfast pizza with "random slices of onion from the deli" that seemed hastily added to an already made pizza, leading to a feeling of being "ripoff." This suggests that while the menu is extensive, the execution of custom orders or freshness of ingredients can sometimes be lacking.
  • Impact on Customer Loyalty from Inconsistent Service: The strong statement, "Three strikes and that's it. Never again. They've lost my gas business, and anything else I could need them for. Bye bye Byrne Dairy Lakeland," from a "faithful customer since they opened," indicates that these service inconsistencies can severely impact long-term customer relationships.

These features illustrate a place with a strong concept and valuable offerings, but also significant challenges in consistent operational execution and customer service that directly impact customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Daily Deli/Food Specials: Given their extensive deli, it's common for Byrne Dairy and Deli to offer daily specials on sandwiches, pizzas, coffee, and other prepared food items. These can include combo deals (e.g., coffee and donut pairings, or breakfast sandwich combos) or discounts on specific menu items on certain days.

Byrne Dairy and Deli Customer Reviews

Ordered a breakfast pizza online, with bacon and onions. Received a text saying it would be ready in 15 minutes, immediately followed by it's ready now. When we received the pizza you could immediately tell they had an already made one and just dumped some random slices of onion from the deli on it. They charge an extra $2.69 for that crap. Ripoff.

The crew in this store after 5 on weeknights is awful. 3 times I've called and ordered food and they've told me 15 minutes. I get there and end up waiting another 20. Three strikes and thats it. Never again. They've lost my gas business, and anything else I could need them for. Bye bye Byrne Dairy Lakeland. I've been a faithful customer since they opened but this place sucks now.

Out of all the Byrne Dairies I’ve been to, this location is the BEST! By far. Dave and the crew treat people like customers. Like they really value your business. I order large quantities of cheeseburgers and breakfast sandwiches and they’re always ready on time and excellent quality. If Byrne Dairy management was smart, and they aren’t, they would duplicate the way these employees run this store. Hats off to Dave and the crew at Byrne Dairy Lakeland for doing an excellent job every day.

Love coming here on break or after work. All of the prepared food is of top quality. There is a killer $1.00 cheeseburger deal on Wednesdays that are delicious. The ice-cream is never freezer-burned and always tastes fresh and delicious. Byrne Dairy, in my opinion has the best ice cream and milk I've ever had. Shelby's Donuts gets delivered every morning fresh.on Tuesdays, if you own a Byrne Dairy travel mug, you get free refills on coffee and cappuccinos and the best part is that their mugs run for only $2.00. There's also a Subway inside which is very convenient. All of the workers here are very friendly and get you through the checkout line quickly. Byrne Dairy is an all around good place to stop for many things from gas to common groceries and even a donut or two.

WORST DOUGHNUTS EVER PURCHASED. I bought a box of 12 for the office. They sat there most of the day. I could not figure out why since usually when someone brings in doughnuts from other companies they gobble them right up, so I tasted one and spit it out. They taste awful
