White & Bradstreet Introduce

For over 70 years, since 1952, White & Bradstreet has been a prominent and specialized "Auto Repair Station" within the heavy-duty trucking industry, proudly serving Augusta, ME, and the wider region. Located at 1020 Weeks Mills Rd, Augusta, ME 04330, USA, this family-owned and operated business is a unique resource, distinguished as Maine's only heavy-duty salvage yard. While they operate within the broader category of "Auto Repair Stations," their focus is distinctly on large commercial vehicles, offering both parts sales and specialized repair services, particularly for transmissions and differentials.

The environment at White & Bradstreet is characteristic of a large-scale heavy-duty truck salvage and service facility. Their 20+ acre salvage yard houses a vast array of heavy-duty trucks of all makes and models, indicating a sprawling outdoor area dedicated to vehicle storage and dismantling. This vast inventory is a significant aspect of their operational environment, providing a unique resource for finding specific used parts. Beyond the salvage yard, there would be a dedicated shop area equipped with the necessary heavy-duty tools and lifts to handle truck transmissions, differentials, and potentially engine components. A reception area would be available for customer interactions, part inquiries, and service scheduling. The overall environment is geared towards robust industrial operations, catering to the specific needs of the commercial trucking sector rather than standard passenger vehicles.

White & Bradstreet offers a comprehensive suite of services and goods for sale, catering specifically to the heavy-duty trucking industry. Their offerings include:

  • Heavy Duty Truck Parts Sales: This is a cornerstone of their business. They maintain a large inventory of both new and used parts for various heavy-duty truck components, including:
    • Engines and engine parts (e.g., used Caterpillar 3406B engine assemblies).
    • Transmissions and transmission parts.
    • Differentials and differential parts (e.g., used Eaton rear rears).
    • Steering boxes.
    • Instrument clusters (e.g., used 2005 Sterling A9500).
    • And many more heavy truck components.
If a specific part is not in stock, they often have the capability to order it.
  • Transmission Services: They operate as a full-service transmission shop. This includes:
    • Rebuilding existing truck transmissions.
    • Selling new or used transmissions.
    • Providing a large inventory of transmission parts for repair.
These services are performed by factory-trained technicians.
  • Differential Services: Similar to transmissions, they are a full-service differential shop offering:
    • Rebuilding existing truck differentials.
    • Selling new or used differentials.
    • Maintaining a large inventory of differential parts.
These services are also handled by factory-trained technicians.

Their dual focus on providing a vast inventory of parts, especially used parts from their salvage operations, alongside specialized repair services, makes them a critical one-stop-shop for heavy-duty truck operators and repair facilities in the region.

The features that define White & Bradstreet are deeply rooted in their long history and specialized niche. A primary feature is their status as Maine's only Heavy Duty Salvage yard. This unique position allows them to house an extensive inventory of used heavy truck parts, which can be invaluable for finding obscure or cost-effective solutions for repairs. Their family-owned and operated nature, spanning three generations since 1952, suggests a deep-rooted commitment to the industry and local community, although this is contrasted by some recent customer feedback. The presence of factory-trained technicians for their transmission and differential services indicates a commitment to professional and knowledgeable repairs, ensuring that complex driveline components are handled by experts.

However, it is crucial to present a balanced perspective based on available customer reviews, which present a concerning pattern. Two specific customer reviews highlight serious issues regarding the reliability of their rebuilt engines and their approach to warranty or post-sale support. One customer states, "We bought a used motor from them, they put new rods and mains in it. 18,000 miles, rod comes out the side of the block with no rod bolt in it and they won't fix it." Another impactful review recounts purchasing a "$15 thousand dollar 'rebuilt' engine" that "had problems from day one," lasted only "10k miles," and for which White & Bradstreet "won't do anything about it." These accounts, detailing significant engine failures and a perceived lack of accountability, represent a critical area of concern for potential customers and significantly impact the perceived reliability and trustworthiness of their rebuilt products. While their inventory is vast, the quality and warranty support for their rebuilt components, particularly engines, appear to be a major drawback based on these experiences. This suggests that while their specialized services and parts availability are unique, customers should exercise extreme caution and seek explicit warranty terms and guarantees, perhaps even independent inspections, before committing to major purchases like rebuilt engines.

Regarding promotional information, White & Bradstreet's long-standing presence and unique position as Maine's only heavy-duty salvage yard inherently serve as a form of promotion within the trucking industry. Their website highlights their extensive inventory and specialized service capabilities. They also maintain a presence on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, which are common channels for businesses to engage with customers and showcase their offerings. Contact information is readily available: phone at (207) 622-2622 and mobile at +1 207-622-2622, with the physical address being 1020 Weeks Mills Rd, Augusta, ME 04330, USA. While the provided reviews indicate significant challenges with product reliability and customer support, it's important for potential customers to be aware of their specific niche and the range of services they offer. For those in the heavy-duty trucking sector in Augusta and beyond, White & Bradstreet represents a significant regional resource for both new and used parts, as well as specialized transmission and differential repair capabilities.

Bought a 15 thousand dollar “rebuilt” engine from these guys had problems from day one of getting it installed made multiple trips down to get it fixed nothing they done worked engine lasted 10k miles and won’t do anything about it. As a owner operator that is a big hit been down for months and lost my hauling job because of it. Do not recommend I’m stuck paying a 15k loan for a boat anchor thanks a lot
