Walmart Auto Care Centers Introduce

Walmart Auto Care Centers, located at 5650 Bay Rd, Saginaw, MI 48604, USA, operate as a dual-purpose facility within the larger Walmart Supercenter. They serve as both an "Auto Repair Station" offering basic vehicle maintenance and repair services, and an "auto parts store" providing a range of automotive products for sale. This integration offers convenience for customers looking to combine their shopping trips with routine vehicle care. You can reach them by phone at (989) 790-8936 or mobile at +1 989-790-8936.

The environment of a Walmart Auto Care Center is typically characterized by its integration within the broader retail store. This means customers often have access to the main Walmart store while their vehicle is being serviced, allowing them to shop or wait comfortably in the store's amenities. The service bays themselves are generally functional and equipped for routine automotive tasks. While not a standalone, specialized auto repair shop, the environment aims to be efficient for quick services. Customer reviews, however, suggest that the actual experience within this environment can sometimes be inconsistent, with instances of perceived rudeness or unhelpfulness from staff, as noted in the provided feedback. The shop typically has visible hours of operation, with closures usually by 7 PM, but customer experiences suggest that services might cease earlier than the advertised closing time, which can lead to frustration.

The services provided by Walmart Auto Care Centers are generally focused on basic and routine automotive maintenance, rather than complex mechanical repairs or collision work. Their core offerings, based on general Walmart Auto Care Center services, typically include:

  • Oil Changes: A fundamental service, often offered with various oil types (conventional, synthetic blend, full synthetic) and at competitive prices. This is a common reason customers visit.
  • Tire Services: This is a significant part of their business. They sell a variety of tire brands and offer mounting, balancing, rotation, and flat tire repair. Tire installation packages often include lifetime balance and rotation.
  • Battery Services: Selling and installing automotive batteries, including their own EverStart brand, and often providing warranty services for batteries purchased through Walmart.
  • Fluid Checks and Replacements: Checking and topping off essential fluids like coolant, brake fluid, and power steering fluid.
  • Wiper Blade and Air Filter Installation: Often offered as a free service with the purchase of new blades or filters.
  • Headlight and Taillight Bulb Replacement: Basic bulb replacement services.

In addition to these services, the "auto parts store" aspect means they also offer a wide selection of automotive products for sale, allowing customers to purchase items for DIY repairs or routine maintenance. This includes motor oils, car fluids, automotive replacement parts (filters, ignition components, engine cooling parts), car electronics (stereos, dash cams), and car care products (washes, waxes, interior cleaners).

Key features of Walmart Auto Care Centers primarily revolve around convenience and affordability, leveraging the broader Walmart retail presence. The ability to shop while waiting for vehicle service is a significant convenience feature for many customers. Their competitive pricing for routine services like oil changes and tire installation is often a major draw. The availability of a wide range of auto parts and accessories directly on site means customers can often find what they need immediately. However, as indicated by the customer reviews, consistency in service quality and customer interaction can be a varying feature. The "rude" attendant and the "fight" to get a battery warranty honored highlight challenges in customer service that can impact the overall experience. The policy of closing early for services, even if the store is open, is also a feature that can lead to customer dissatisfaction. They typically offer services on a first-come, first-served basis, although some locations may allow online scheduling for tire installation.

Regarding promotional information, Walmart Auto Care Centers frequently leverage their retail power to offer competitive pricing and ongoing deals. These can include:

  • "Rollback" Prices: Discounted prices on various automotive products like motor oil, wiper blades, and car care items, consistent with Walmart's general pricing strategy.
  • Competitive Service Pricing: Generally lower prices for oil changes, tire installation, and other basic services compared to dedicated repair shops. For instance, basic oil changes start from around $24.88, and tire installation packages around $19.00 per tire for tires purchased at Walmart.
  • Tire Promotions: Special offers or rebates on specific tire brands, or bundles that include free installation or road hazard warranties with tire purchases. Some tire services, like flat tire repair, are free for Walmart+ members.
  • Warranty Services: Batteries purchased from Walmart typically come with a warranty, though customer experiences suggest that honoring these warranties might sometimes require persistence.
  • Online Scheduling: While not universally available for all services, some locations offer online appointment booking for tire installation, which is a convenience feature that can be promoted.

The customer reviews highlight areas of both strength and weakness. The instances of a rude attendant and refusal to honor a battery warranty despite it being "under warranty" point to potential inconsistencies in staff training and customer service delivery. This can be a significant concern for customers who expect a smooth and hassle-free experience, particularly when dealing with warranty claims. Conversely, the general appeal of Walmart Auto Care Centers often lies in their accessibility, competitive pricing for basic services, and the convenience of being located within a large retail store. For local users in Saginaw, MI, seeking quick and affordable routine maintenance or readily available auto parts, Walmart Auto Care Centers at 5650 Bay Rd could be an option, but it is advisable to manage expectations regarding customer service based on varied experiences reported by others. It is always recommended to confirm service availability and pricing directly with the center at (989) 790-8936, especially for services with specific time constraints like oil changes near closing hours.

Walmart Auto Care Centers Customer Reviews

I usually don’t leave reviews. I was rudely turned away at 6:22 for an oil change. Although the time says they close at 7pm. The attendant even had the audacity to lean on my car. Just disgusted and appalled at this kind of service.

Worst service ever! I bought my battery from the Walmart in Bay City and installed it with the help of my dad. Less than a year since it was installed it began to corrode very badly and was advised to take it to the walmart auto center to get it replaced since it was under warranty. Not only was the employee rude but I had to fight to even get them to take a look at my car. After an hour of waiting around he said that nothing was wrong with the battery and refused to replace it for me despite it being under warranty.

I took my car here to get my winter tires put on they didn't clean up the edges of my rims at all so all 4 tires had rim leaks after. They put clip-on weights on the outside of aluminum rims which you're supposed to use adhesive on the inside of the rim so 1 of them fell off right after. I came back when I had time and they said they wouldn't do anything for me because I didn't get the "Road hazard warranty". So I had to go somewhere else and pay more money on my tires. Do not let Walmart workers touch your vehicle.

They didn't honor my appt time. Additionally, previous visits, they significantly overfilled my oil. They are the cheapest deal in town for an oil change, but not worth the $20 cost savings.
