Vernon Coachworks Introduce

Located at 649 W Vernon Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90037, USA, Vernon Coachworks operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, specifically focusing on collision repair and auto body work. They can be contacted at (323) 405-3764 or via mobile at +1 323-405-3764. The customer reviews for Vernon Coachworks present a stark contrast in experiences, highlighting both exceptionally high-quality repair work and significant issues with communication and billing practices.

Environment and Specialization

As a coachworks and auto body shop, Vernon Coachworks' environment would differ significantly from a general mechanical repair shop. It would be equipped with specialized areas for:

  • Collision Repair Bays: Dedicated spaces for dismantling damaged vehicles, assessing structural integrity, and performing frame straightening using advanced equipment.

  • Paint Booths: Controlled environments designed for dust-free painting, ensuring a flawless finish and perfect color matching, as praised in a customer review.

  • Bodywork Stations: Areas where dents are pulled, panels are replaced or repaired, and vehicles are prepped for painting.

  • Detailing Areas: For the final touches that make a repaired car look "as good as new."

The shop would likely maintain a clean and organized appearance to ensure high-quality finishes. Given their specialization in accident repair, they would also have an office area for handling insurance claims, estimates, and customer consultations. The location on W Vernon Ave in Los Angeles makes it accessible for individuals in need of post-accident vehicle services in the central Los Angeles area.

Services Offered

Vernon Coachworks primarily offers services related to collision repair and auto body restoration. Based on customer experiences, their expertise includes:

  • Accident Repair: This is their core service, handling vehicles involved in various types of accidents. Their ability to fix a "twisted rear wheel" on a car initially thought to be totaled demonstrates high-level structural and mechanical repair capabilities related to collision damage.

  • Vandalism Repair: As evidenced by the repair of a vandalized car with "pretty extensive" damage, they handle cosmetic and structural repairs resulting from vandalism.

  • Paint Matching and Finishing: The review praising "The paint matched perfectly" indicates their proficiency in achieving seamless paint repairs that blend flawlessly with the existing vehicle finish.

  • Body Panel Repair and Replacement: Mending or replacing damaged body panels to restore the vehicle's original shape and appearance.

  • Structural Repair: Addressing damage to the vehicle's frame and chassis, crucial for safety and proper alignment after an accident.

  • Working with Insurance Companies: Henry and Martin's ability to "worked with the insurance company seamlessly" highlights their experience and capability in handling the complexities of insurance claims, easing the burden on customers.

While the business falls under "Auto Repair Stations," their specific focus appears to be on post-collision and bodywork services, rather than general mechanical repairs like oil changes or engine diagnostics.

Features and Customer Experience

The reviews for Vernon Coachworks present a complex picture of their service delivery:

  • Exceptional Repair Quality (Positive): This is the most consistently praised aspect. Customers are "beyond ecstatic" with the results, noting that fixed cars look "as good as new" and "You can't even tell anything ever happened to the car!" Their ability to repair severe damage, like a twisted rear wheel, and achieve perfect paint matches, indicates high-level craftsmanship and attention to detail. This is a significant strength and sets them apart in terms of technical skill.

  • Reasonable Pricing for Quality (Positive): For the complex repairs, customers found the price "very reasonable," especially considering the extent of the damage and the quality of the outcome. This suggests good value for specialized collision services.

  • Effective Insurance Coordination (Positive): The ability of Henry and Martin to work "seamlessly" with insurance companies is a major benefit for customers, simplifying a often stressful process.

  • Problematic Communication and Transparency (Negative): The negative review highlights severe issues: "no call and they're not picking up the phone either," and a lack of timely communication regarding the quote. This demonstrates a significant breakdown in customer service communication.

  • Controversial Storage Fees (Negative): The most contentious point is the "storage fee of $600" charged on a vehicle for which a quote hadn't been provided. The customer views this as "morally speaking it's absolutely wrong to charge a storage fee on a vehicle you haven't even given a quote on," suspecting it might have been an intentional way to "run up the storage fee." This practice, if accurate, raises serious concerns about ethical billing and transparency.

  • Aggressive or Unaccommodating Stance (Negative): The demand to "pay or leave my car and the pink slip" indicates a potentially aggressive or unyielding approach when disputes arise, which can be very distressing for customers.

This dichotomy means that while the quality of the physical repair might be outstanding, the customer journey can be fraught with significant challenges regarding communication, transparency, and billing practices.

Promotional Information and Business Philosophy

Vernon Coachworks' promotional efforts are likely bolstered by strong recommendations from satisfied customers regarding their repair quality, and potentially by affiliations like the "recommendation by AAA" mentioned in one review. Their business philosophy appears to be deeply rooted in delivering high-quality, technically proficient collision repair, capable of restoring severely damaged vehicles to an exceptional standard. The consistent praise for Henry and Martin suggests that their individual expertise and dedication are central to the shop's success in terms of craftsmanship.

However, the negative review points to a potential disconnect between their technical proficiency and their customer service and billing transparency. While they excel in the physical restoration of vehicles, improvements may be needed in managing customer expectations, providing timely updates, and ensuring transparent communication regarding all charges, particularly storage fees. For potential customers, Vernon Coachworks offers the promise of "AWESOME" and "beautiful work" for collision repairs, especially for complex cases and paint matching. However, individuals should be proactive in discussing and confirming all potential fees, including storage, and establishing clear communication channels from the outset to avoid the issues encountered by the dissatisfied customer.

Vernon Coachworks Customer Reviews

If I can give this 0 stars I would. This was a recommendation by AAA. I had my car dropped off there. I wanted to know how much it would cost to get the damage on my car fixed. They said it would take some time to find out and they will let me know. Fast forward a few days, no call and they're not picking up the phone either, until one day they finally do. They tell me how much it's going to cost and that I would have to pay a storage fee to get my car out of the mechanic of $600. I understand storage fees in the shop business but morally speaking it's absolutely wrong to charge a storage fee on a vehicle you haven't even given a quote on. For all I knew you could have been running up the storage fee intentionally. Said I'd have to pay or leave my car and the pink slip. Bad business, I wouldn't let them touch my car for an oil change.

My son's car was involved in an accident and we were told on the scene that most likely his car was totaled because of a twisted rear wheel. Based on a referral, I took his car to Vernon Coachworks to see if it could be repaired. Henry and Martin said that it is possible that it was totaled, but that they would do everything possible to fix it...and they DID!! Not only did they fix it, they did it for a very reasonable price and made the car look as good as new! Thinking...definitely my go-to for future repairs. Then a short time later, my daughter's car was vandalized. Of course I immediately thought of Vernon Coachworks. The damage was pretty extensive, so I had to involve insurance. I told them that I wanted the car to go to Vernon Coachworks to be repaired. Henry and Martin worked with the insurance company seamlessly and once again, they did amazing, beautiful work. You can't even tell anything ever happened to the car! The paint matched perfectly and I am beyond ecstatic. Vernon Coachworks is AWESOME! I can't thank them enough!

I came here trying to get some work done on my front bumper/side of my car. I was so worried at the cost and even being able to get taken out. The guys were extremely nice, professional, and affordable. I don't think I have ever seen such nice guys help me out anywhere. I am so happy I found them and I could not be happier. Go to them for your work! You won't regret it.

Took 4 weeks to get my car back repaired. Other shops would have only took half that time. This shop didn't bother to pick up the phone the first 3 weeks to keep me informed why it was taking so long. I had to keep calling them for a status. When I got my car back repaired, my brake lights weren't lighting up (was never like this prior to my accident). One of the guys from the shop saw me backing out and didn't even catch this. I ended up paying out of pocket to another shop for labor time for them to fix the bad connection to my brake lights. My Android phone charger also went missing (you can buy it for cheap on Amazon why steal from me). This shop took one of my wheel locks and left it on the side of my front passenger seat. The decent thing to do is put it back with my wheel lock set I keep in my trunk. Not only is this shop not trustworthy, way too far from where I live and work - but because of these issues I have no intention of ever using them again. This shop was given to me as a random recommendation from a AAA tow truck driver. I find it very suspicious that he recommended this shop so far away from the scene of the accident. From what I've been told, shops pay something to tow truck drivers for new business. Unfortunately I didn't have money to move it to a different shop and Geico wouldn't pay up either, I had to suffer the consequences of my rookie mistake with this fiasco of an insurance claim. DO NOT trust random tow truck drivers and random shops.

This body shop is a rip off the owner Jimmy is a phony. Insurance denied coverage for my vehicle I asked him to fix it and I would cover the cost. He kept lying and bullshittin about fixing my car. I then told him I wanted my CRASHED car back from a lot called Clark's where he sends the cars. Jimmy ended up Charging me $700 for "STORAGE FEES" because he was too damn unprofessional about fixing my car after I told him multiple times to fix it. Took my car to EZ Auto body in bell dude was great recommend that place 1000 times more that this roachworks so called body shop!
