Vector Fleet Management Introduce

Vector Fleet Management (VFM) stands as a prominent provider of comprehensive fleet maintenance and parts management services, catering to a diverse clientele that includes government agencies, private enterprises, utility services, and heavy industrial operations. With a history spanning over 35 years, VFM has established itself as a trusted partner for organizations seeking to optimize their fleet operations, reduce costs, and ensure the safety and longevity of their vehicles and equipment. Recently acquired by Amerit Fleet Solutions, Vector Fleet Management continues to operate under its trusted brand name, further enhancing its capabilities and reach.

Operating within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, VFM provides a wide array of services and goods tailored specifically for fleet needs, distinguishing itself from typical consumer-focused auto repair shops. Their focus is on delivering end-to-end fleet solutions that span the total fleet lifecycle, from acquisition and management to optimization and eventual disposal. This specialized approach ensures that commercial, government, and heavy industrial fleets receive the dedicated and expert care required for their complex operations.

Environment and Facilities

Vector Fleet Management's facilities are designed to support a high volume of diverse vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair. While specific details may vary by location, a typical VFM workshop emphasizes efficiency and safety. Many facilities are equipped with ample space, often featuring multiple bays—for example, a typical shop might have 15 bays with the majority of work concentrated in six primary bays. The work environment is typically temperature-controlled, with heating and cooling provided by large fans and cross breezes, ensuring a comfortable and productive space for technicians. These shops are well-equipped with essential tools, including a range of wrenches, impact air ratchets, and advanced diagnostic computers, allowing for precise and efficient problem-solving. Vehicle lifts and jacks are readily available to facilitate comprehensive undercarriage inspections and repairs. For technicians, a break room with amenities like a table, chairs, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker is usually provided, fostering a supportive work environment. The commitment to safety is paramount, with regular safety meetings, including monthly OSHA training sessions, and a written safety program that includes "lock out/tag out" procedures. This focus on safety extends to proper disposal and recovery of shop fluids and responsible management of toxic chemicals and waste in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and EPA rules.

Services Offered

Vector Fleet Management offers a holistic suite of services designed to address every aspect of fleet maintenance and management. These services are not merely about fixing vehicles but about providing strategic solutions to optimize fleet performance and minimize operational costs. Key service offerings include:

  • Preventative Maintenance (PM) Programs: VFM emphasizes proactive maintenance with customized and OEM PM procedures. Their comprehensive PM plans include regular inspections, scheduled maintenance tasks, and detailed reporting to ensure vehicles are consistently inspected and serviced, reducing costly downtime and extending vehicle lifespan. Notifications for PM intervals are often sent via email, and the system supports paperless shop floors with technician-managed repair orders.

  • Maintenance and Repairs: From routine repairs to heavy, in-depth overhauls, Vector Fleet Management handles a full spectrum of mechanical issues. This includes engine diagnostics, brake repairs, transmission services, electrical system troubleshooting, and more. Their team of highly skilled and certified technicians possesses expertise across all vehicle systems and receives ongoing training to stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques, including specialized knowledge for electric vehicle (EV) fleet maintenance.

  • Parts and Supplies Management: VFM provides all necessary parts to keep vehicles in optimal condition, ensuring they meet OEM specifications. They offer onsite parts management programs and efficient parts procurement, with technicians able to check current stock or order parts as needed. The system also integrates warranty tracking for parts.

  • Fuel Management: Services include comprehensive fuel management solutions and accurate, automated mileage updates via fuel report imports, which ensures the currency of PM intervals.

  • Asset Management: This encompasses the full lifecycle of fleet assets, including vehicle acquisition and disposal, upfitting, and decommissioning. VFM provides expert guidance on optimizing the utilization and longevity of fleet vehicles.

  • Fleet Management Information System (FMIS): A core component of VFM's offering is its robust FMIS, often based on TMW System's TMT software. This platform provides detailed unit masters, 24/7 online client access, department-level fleet cost centers, real-time information across all client operations, and extensive reporting functionality. It streamlines maintenance and repair processes, tracks all activities, and provides alerts when service is due, allowing fleet managers to make data-driven decisions.

  • Accident Coordination: VFM assists with accident management, coordinating repairs and ensuring vehicles are returned to service promptly.

  • OEM Warranty Administration: They handle the complexities of OEM warranty claims, helping clients recapture warranty funds and maximize cost savings.

  • Roadside Assistance: Beyond in-shop services, VFM supports roadside assistance to minimize vehicle downtime.

  • Technician Training and Development: VFM is committed to the professional growth of its technicians, offering continuous training and recertification opportunities. They employ seasoned professionals who mentor new technicians and have an apprentice program. Performance reviews are conducted annually, based on productivity, performance, and certifications received, with promotions often from within.

  • Outsourced Repairs: For specialized services like glass and body repair that cannot be performed in-house, VFM manages outside repair services and continuously reviews the necessity of such work.

Pick up and deliver trucks here regularly. No problems. Sometimes they get backed up with the truck list, but they are apologetic and try to get your truck as fast as they can.
