Tony's Tire & Auto Repair Introduce
Tony's Tire & Auto Repair, located at 9701 Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90044, USA, operates as an Auto Repair Station specializing in both tire services and general auto repair. They can be reached via phone at (323) 753-0511 or mobile at +1 323-753-0511. As a combination tire and auto repair shop, they aim to serve a broad range of vehicle maintenance and repair needs for the local community.
The environment at Tony's Tire & Auto Repair, based on customer accounts, appears to be a functional garage setting, typical of a local auto repair and tire shop. It would likely feature bays for vehicle lifts, tire mounting and balancing equipment, and tools necessary for general automotive repairs. The starkly contrasting reviews suggest that while the physical space might be standard, the operational practices and equipment maintenance could be areas of concern. For instance, a detailed negative review mentions a "jack point is flopped over on its side" due to a "worn" jack with flat grooves, indicating potential issues with the condition of their equipment and its impact on vehicle handling during service. This suggests an environment where equipment upkeep might not meet professional standards in all instances, potentially leading to vehicle damage. Conversely, for customers experiencing positive interactions, the environment would be perceived as simply a working garage where services are performed.
The services offered by Tony's Tire & Auto Repair, as an Auto Repair Station, would broadly include:
- Tire Repair: As explicitly mentioned in the reviews, flat tire repair is a core service.
- Tire Sales and Installation: While not directly stated, a "tire & auto repair" shop would typically sell and install new or used tires.
- Tire Balancing: Essential service to prevent vehicle shaking and ensure even tire wear, although one review suggests an issue with this.
- General Auto Repair: Beyond tires, a "complete auto repair" implies services such as brake repair, oil changes, fluid services, battery replacement, and potentially some diagnostic work. However, specific examples of non-tire auto repairs are not detailed in the provided information.
The features of Tony's Tire & Auto Repair are subject to significantly contrasting customer experiences, presenting a complex picture for prospective users.
Positive Features:
- Women-Friendly Environment: One review explicitly states, "Tony's auto repair is women friendly. They treat you like you are part of the family." This suggests a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for female customers, and particularly "elderly women and women who have no clue about automobile matance," indicating a focus on clear communication and trust for this demographic. This is a significant positive feature, as many women report feeling uncomfortable or taken advantage of in automotive repair settings.
Negative Features / Areas of Concern:
- Quality of Workmanship (Flat Repair): One customer reported that a "simple flat repair" led to significant vehicle shaking at speed, suggesting the tire was "horribly out of balance" or lugs were not tightened correctly. This indicates potential issues with the quality and thoroughness of their tire service.
- Vehicle Damage During Service: A critical concern is the reported damage to the vehicle's "jack point" due to the use of a "worn" and "flat" jack, which the shop owner seemingly acknowledged as a result of wear but refused to properly fix. This highlights a severe issue with equipment maintenance and potentially negligent handling of vehicles.
- Customer Service Inconsistency / Owner's Conduct: While the "gentleman that handles the business side is the lone bright spot," the interaction with "Tony the owner" is described as argumentative and dismissive. He allegedly talked to the customer "like I was an idiot" despite the customer's extensive background in automotive and aviation mechanics. This indicates a significant issue with the owner's customer relations and willingness to take responsibility for alleged damage.
- Refusal to Rectify Damage: The owner's alleged refusal to properly fix the damaged jack point, merely attempting a superficial "fix" with pliers that did not resolve the issue, is a major negative feature and a serious breach of trust.
- Questionable Diagnostic Practices: The owner initially attributed the vehicle shaking to suspension issues, which was contradicted by the customer's test with a spare tire, suggesting a potentially inaccurate or dismissive diagnostic approach.
Regarding promotional information, no specific formal promotions for Tony's Tire & Auto Repair are provided. The positive review highlights their "women friendly" and "family-like" approach as a key attraction, which serves as a powerful form of word-of-mouth promotion, particularly for a demographic often seeking trustworthy mechanics. However, the severe negative review, detailing vehicle damage and poor redress, would likely counteract any such positive promotion among those who encounter similar issues. Businesses in the Auto Repair Stations category typically rely on reputation, trust, and quality of service to attract and retain customers. For Tony's, managing the consistency of their service and addressing reported issues with equipment and accountability would be crucial for their long-term reputation. For local users in Los Angeles seeking auto or tire repair, contacting Tony's Tire & Auto Repair at (323) 753-0511 or +1 323-753-0511 would provide direct information, but potential customers should be aware of the varied experiences reported in online reviews.

Tony's Tire & Auto Repair Customer Reviews
Absolutely do not take your vehicle to this place! I took my vehicle in for a simple flat repair and came away with even more damage than I started with! I take my vehicle in, they do the flat repair for $20. Ok, good to go right? WRONG!!! So I hop on the freeway and start heading home. At about 60mph my vehicle starts shaking noticeably! Any faster and it becomes even worse, even at slower speeds it was shaking but not really noticeable, so it is 55mph or less from here out. I'm thinking to myself, either the mechanic didn't tighten the lugs down correctly or somehow the tire is horribly out of balance. I get home, get ready to lift the vehicle to check the lugs and to my horror, my jack point is flopped over on its side, can't fit the point into the groove on the jack to lift the vehicle. Just great! So this happened on a Saturday, Tony's is closed on Sunday, so I gotta wait til Monday. I work basically 24/7 otherwise I would have gotten a floor jack and hit the axel and been done with it, but I work back to back jobs on weekends. So Monday, I go back to Tony's and explain the situation. I'm told that they couldn't have messed up a simple flat repair and that I would need to speak to the owner. Mind you, the gentleman that handles the business side is the lone bright spot at this location! He was understanding after having pointed out my damaged jack point and explaining about the shaking. He tells me that I would need to speak to the owner. Tony the owner said it must have been my suspension that's messed up and that it was a simple flat repair, they didn't do anything that could have caused the shaking. Mind you, I called AAA and had them put my spare on so that I could drive normal, which was done while I was at work. The spare drove like a normal tire would, absolutely no shaking. So I proceed to tell Tony, the spare is shaking my car, so how can it be the suspension? So after going back and forth with him over the crap labor that was done, I then go into my jack point damage. He said that is where you're supposed to jack the vehicle. I agreed, but it isn't supposed to be folded over. Tony then said, we use floor jacks here and proceeded to point to one. I go over, and look at the jack. The damn grooves where the point is supposed to slide into is flat. The jack is so worn that it is basically flat. No where for the slot to go except bent over with the weight of a vehicle on it. So I pointed it out to Tony and he said what do you expect, with wear the jacks wear down! How cheap do you have to be that you're damaging people's vehicles because you don't want to buy new jacks or at least replace the connect point on the jack so people's vehicles aren't damaged. Mind you, they could have easily jacked it from the axel with that jack and not caused any damage or put a rubber pad so the groove has somewhere to go. Tony proceeded to talk to me like I was an idiot, when I'm an aircraft mechanic who has worked at a tire shop (America's Tire and Sam's Club) and was the assistant plant manager for Goodyear, so I am well aware of the process of doing flat repairs, installing new tires and lifting vehicles. So after finally proving my point, I tell the guy that handles the business I just want my jack point fixed, forget about the crap work your mechanic did. My car doesn't shake anymore with a spare on. So Tony agrees to "fix my jack point." He grabs some pliers and goes under the vehicle and proceed to do SOMETHING!! So after awhile he comes out and I say "Thank you, that's all I wanted is for my jack point to be fixed. Otherwise I won't be able to use the jack that came with the vehicle on it because of the damage your shop caused." So he mumbles and walks away. I go look at my jack point and it is still bent over that I still wouldn't be able to get it into the groove of my vehicle jack! This POS not only damages my vehicle but also refuses to even fix the damage that they caused!!! DO NOT GO HERE!! They don't kno what the hell they're doing! Cheap workmanship! Bad service! Great front desk man! Tony is POS

I had to take my car back for it's initial supspension issue during the 30 day warranty period. After taking it on a drive with the mechanic, Jesus, conveniently can't hear the issue with the suspension. He attributes it to "regular car noises." He lets me know his other mechanic will be back in 5 minutes from lunch and that he'll go on a drive with me to recreate the issue. I wait for thirty minutes to let Tony, the office manager, know I'll have to come back another day since my lunch is over. Tony mentions Jesus was the mechanic who should have identified the issue. I waited for 30 minutes to realize no one there was interested in helping me. Additionally, the mechanic then bad mouths me to his colleague. He thought I was too far to hear him, but that wasn't the case.
