The Transmission Shop Introduce
For individuals seeking automotive repair services in Tampa, Florida, particularly for transmission and clutch-related issues, The Transmission Shop is an establishment located at 7273 Causeway Blvd, Tampa, FL 33619, USA. Operating within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, this business offers services for vehicles experiencing mechanical difficulties.
The Transmission Shop can be reached at (813) 613-3031 or via mobile at +1 813-613-3031.
Based on available customer feedback, the reported environment and customer experience at The Transmission Shop present significant concerns. One detailed review describes a highly negative experience characterized by a lack of communication and significant delays. The customer noted that promises regarding completion times were not met, and attempts to contact the shop via phone and text went unanswered for extended periods. This suggests an environment where customer inquiries are not consistently prioritized or addressed in a timely manner.
Upon physically visiting the shop after a week of no communication, the customer found their car still partially disassembled, indicating that the work was far from complete despite prior assurances. The review also mentions finding the car not properly reassembled even after leaving the shop, requiring further repair at another location. These details suggest a chaotic or unorganized work environment, which could impact the quality and thoroughness of repairs.
Furthermore, a serious issue was reported regarding the alleged misuse of the customer's vehicle. The customer claimed that their car was driven over 100 miles for "errands and enjoyment," evidenced by a significant drop in fuel level and the discovery of personal items belonging to others (sand, a Shoe Carnival receipt, shorts, white stains, and condoms) inside their vehicle. If accurate, this indicates a severe breach of trust and professionalism within the shop's operational environment. The owner's alleged response, disclaiming knowledge of the incident because he was "gone on Monday," further contributes to a perception of unaccountability. Another review mentions a vehicle being towed while under the shop's control and the owner refusing to cover towing or impound fees, suggesting a lack of responsibility for vehicles in their care.
The cumulative picture from these reviews describes an environment that, for these customers, was marked by severe communication breakdowns, project delays, alleged misuse of property, and a perceived lack of accountability, leading to a highly unsatisfactory customer experience.
As an "Auto Repair Station" with a name like The Transmission Shop, their primary specialization is expected to be in transmission and clutch-related repairs. The customer reviews confirm that they do indeed undertake such services:
- Clutch Repair: One extensive review details a car being brought in specifically for clutch repair.
- Transmission Repair: Another review mentions the shop attempting to repair a transmission.
While these are the specific services highlighted in the customer feedback, a typical "Auto Repair Station" might also offer other related diagnostic and repair services. However, the available information from reviews focuses exclusively on these core areas, specifically within the context of highly problematic service delivery. The reviews suggest that while they advertise these services, the execution and professionalism of these repairs have been severely criticized.
Based on the provided customer feedback, the features of The Transmission Shop, as perceived by these individuals, are predominantly negative.
- Lack of Communication: A dominant feature reported is the severe and consistent lack of communication from the shop regarding repair status, delays, and unexpected charges. Texts and calls reportedly went unanswered for days.
- Missed Deadlines and Delays: Promises for completion by specific dates (e.g., "done by Monday") were reportedly not met, leading to significant and unexplained delays.
- Unapproved Charges: A customer reported being charged $300 over the initial quote without any prior communication or approval, indicating a lack of transparency in pricing.
- Alleged Vehicle Misuse: A highly concerning feature, as reported, is the alleged unauthorized use of a customer's vehicle for personal errands, leading to substantial mileage accumulation and foreign objects (sand, personal items, white stains, condoms) found within the car.
- Substandard Workmanship (Reported): The need to take the car to another shop to "get the under panels put back on properly" and to a "body shop to get the scratches all over the trunk repaired" suggests that the initial repair work was either incomplete or caused additional damage.
- Lack of Accountability: The owner's alleged response to serious accusations of vehicle misuse ("he was gone on Monday when this all must have happened") suggests a disavowal of responsibility. Similarly, the refusal to pay for towing and impound fees when a vehicle was under their control indicates a lack of accountability for issues occurring during the repair process.
The phrase "Absolute WORST decision to take my car here" and "Worst transmission shop in Tampa" emphatically summarizes the negative customer perception of the shop's features. These features directly contrast with the expectations of professionalism, honesty, and quality that customers seek in an auto repair station.
For The Transmission Shop, the available customer reviews function as critical, albeit overwhelmingly negative, promotional information. Instead of attracting new customers, these detailed accounts serve as stark warnings to potential patrons.
The implicit "promotional" messages conveyed by these experiences are:
- Avoidance is Recommended: The repeated strong advice to "Please avoid this place at all costs!" and "Worst transmission shop in Tampa" is the most prominent "promotional" message from these customers.
- High Financial Risk: Customers are warned about potential overcharging, unexpected costs, and the need for further repairs at other shops, leading to significant financial burden.
- Risk to Vehicle and Personal Property: The allegations of vehicle misuse, damage, and personal items being left in the car highlight risks to both the vehicle's integrity and the customer's personal space and safety.
- Poor Communication and Unreliable Service: The struggle to get updates and adherence to promised timelines suggests that customers should expect frustrating communication and significant delays.
In an objective introduction, it is crucial to present this unfiltered customer feedback, as it directly impacts the public's perception of the business. While every business strives for positive reviews, an objective overview must reflect the full spectrum of reported customer experiences. The overwhelming negative sentiment in the provided reviews serves as a powerful cautionary tale for local users considering The Transmission Shop for their automotive repair needs in Tampa, FL.

The Transmission Shop Customer Reviews
Absolute WORST decision to take my car here. We were in need of immediate help fixing our clutch so we googled places near us and The Transmission Shop was the only place available to help immediately. We took our car here and the owner told us that we would not be able to drive it to any other shop without risking further damage. With this in my we agreed to allow for them to do the service, but requested constant communication. The owner promised the car would be done by Monday - two days after he received the car. By Monday at 6PM, we heard nothing about our car. I texted and called with no response, but let it go assuming it was just going to take a little longer and they would get back to me tomorrow. By Wednesday, I had texted and called multiple times with no response. Thursday, I called off a *67 number to get them to answer and they said the car would be done that night. We heard nothing that night. Friday he texted us informing us he got the wrong part but would fix things by Saturday. We told him the car HAD to be done Saturday, he said it would be done by noon. SURPRISE, it still wasn't done at noon and by 6PM we decided to show up at the shop and require the car to be done. When we arrived, the car was still up on the hydraulics and not put back together. We did not leave the shop until midnight that night. On top of that they charged us $300 over the quote and never communicated with us about the extra charges as requested in the beginning. But that's not even the worst part! We got our car back and noticed we only had 20 miles until empty even though we dropped the car off with half a tank. After they specifically told me I couldn't make it to another shop they took the car over 100 miles for their own errands and enjoyment. After searching my car, I found sand all over the back seat, a receipt from shopping at Shoe Carnival, a pair of shorts, white stains on my interior, scratches on my trunk, and worst of all CONDOMS in the back seat. When confronted, the owner simply said he was gone on Monday when this all must have happened. Taking our car here has costed us a fortune, on top of what they charged us for "clutch repair", we had to take it to another shop to get the under panels put back on properly, we took it to a body shop to get the scratches all over the trunk repaired, and we had to get it detailed to remove the sand and disgusting white stains from the interior. Please avoid this place at all costs!

Worst transmission shop in Tampa. Carl Owens got my vehicle towed while he was trying to repair transmission. He refused to pay the towing company to retrieve the vehicle or reimburse for impound fees while vehicle was under his control
