That's Minor Customs Introduce
That's Minor Customs, located at 6430 19 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314, USA, operates within the broad category of "Auto Repair Stations," but with a distinct and specialized focus that sets it apart. Rather than general mechanical repairs for everyday vehicles, That's Minor Customs positions itself as a premier destination for custom car needs, particularly excelling in classic car restoration, hot rod customization, and muscle car builds. This specialization means they provide services and goods tailored to enthusiasts and owners of unique or vintage vehicles, rather than routine maintenance for modern cars.
The environment at That's Minor Customs, while not explicitly detailed in terms of aesthetics from the provided snippets, can be inferred to be one of meticulous craftsmanship and dedicated workspace. For a shop that handles intricate custom builds and restorations, a clean, organized, and well-equipped facility is essential. The nature of their work—dealing with high-value classic and custom vehicles—suggests an environment that prioritizes precision, attention to detail, and the careful handling of automobiles. Customer reviews, particularly the positive ones, hint at a professional atmosphere where clients feel that their cherished vehicles are in capable hands. The fact that a detailed discussion and written documentation of work were provided for a 1950 Packard indicates a structured and transparent approach to their projects, contributing to a sense of trust and professionalism in their environment.
The services offered by That's Minor Customs are comprehensive within their niche. Their core expertise lies in custom car builds and full restorations. This includes:
- Classic Car Restoration: Bringing vintage vehicles back to their original or even improved condition. This often involves extensive work on the body, chassis, engine, and interior to achieve historical accuracy or a desired custom aesthetic.
- Hot Rod and Muscle Car Customization: Modifying vehicles for enhanced performance, unique styling, or specific racing applications. This can range from engine upgrades and suspension modifications to bespoke bodywork and paint jobs.
- Auto Body Repair: While specializing in custom work, they also perform auto body repairs, particularly those requiring a higher level of skill and attention to detail, often for classic or custom vehicles involved in accidents.
- Custom Painting and Finishing: High-quality paint jobs are a hallmark of custom shops. This includes specialized finishes, airbrushing, and color matching to achieve a show-quality appearance.
- Mechanical Upgrades: Enhancing or restoring mechanical components, often involving modernizing older vehicles with contemporary drivetrain, braking, or suspension systems while maintaining a classic aesthetic.
- Metal Fabrication and Custom Work: The ability to fabricate custom parts in-house is crucial for unique builds and restorations, ensuring a perfect fit and personalized design.
The key features of That's Minor Customs, derived from the available information, highlight their approach and the value they aim to provide:
- Specialization in Custom and Classic Vehicles: This is their most defining feature. Unlike a general repair shop, their expertise is deeply rooted in the complexities of vintage and modified automobiles, requiring specialized knowledge, tools, and techniques.
- Attention to Detail and Professionalism: Bryan V.'s review emphasizes "unmatched" attention and professionalism, noting the detailed documentation of work. This suggests a methodical and transparent process designed to build customer confidence.
- Commitment to Customer Satisfaction (as per positive reviews): The positive review highlights a pleasing experience from "day one," indicating strong communication and a focus on meeting customer expectations.
In terms of promotional information, the prompt does not provide specific ongoing deals, discounts, or seasonal offers directly from That's Minor Customs. However, their primary "promotional" tool, evident from the reviews, appears to be the word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied clients like Bryan V., who explicitly states, "I recommend this shop for all your custom car needs." Conversely, the negative review from Mr. Clark serves as a significant deterrent, also influencing potential customers' perceptions. The shop's name itself, "That's Minor Customs," inherently promotes their specialization in custom work, implying a focus on bespoke solutions rather than routine, minor repairs. For a business of this nature, showcasing their completed projects through a portfolio (likely on a website or social media) would be a critical promotional strategy, demonstrating their capabilities and craftsmanship. The quality of work on unique vehicles often speaks for itself and attracts a clientele seeking specialized expertise.
Given the conflicting nature of the customer reviews, potential clients of That's Minor Customs should approach with careful consideration. On one hand, the positive experience described by Bryan V. highlights a professional establishment capable of handling complex projects like a 1950 Packard restoration with clear communication and excellent results. This suggests that for certain types of projects and clients, the shop can deliver high-quality custom work. On the other hand, the severe allegations of a "total scam" and unfulfilled work from Mr. Clark cannot be ignored. This discrepancy is significant and underscores the importance of a thorough vetting process. This might involve visiting the shop, discussing project specifics in detail, requesting references from past clients, and perhaps even checking with local business bureaus for any reported issues or complaints. For a business operating in the specialized and often high-cost realm of custom automotive work, transparency and consistent delivery are paramount to maintaining a positive reputation.
In conclusion, That's Minor Customs in Sterling Heights, MI, is an auto repair station highly specialized in custom car work, including classic car restoration, hot rod builds, and custom painting. They offer a range of services designed for automotive enthusiasts seeking unique vehicle transformations or precise restoration. While some customers praise their professionalism, attention to detail, and quality of work, another customer has reported a severely negative experience involving uncompleted work and significant financial loss. This mixed feedback indicates that while they possess the capability for intricate custom work, potential customers should proceed with caution and ensure clear agreements and consistent communication throughout any project undertaken with That's Minor Customs.

That's Minor Customs Customer Reviews
I would like to share that my experience with "That's Minor Customs" was a pleasure. From day one the attention I received and the professionalism was unmatched. Everything that was discussed about what was to be done on my 1950 Packard was written down with such detail, it left me with no questions if things were done or not. I recommend this shop for all your custom car needs. Bryan V.

I’m with Mr Clark. This shop is a total scam. Never usually say nothing bad about people or businesses. But into them for thousands and nothing done! Nothing but excuses. Had to pull the car. Save yourself the nightmare. Go somewhere else.

Great experience. When you pay $97k for your vehicle, I gotta say I was nervous about the repair process. Made it super easy. Had work done at dealerships before and so glad I went off the beaten path and took it to somebody that knows what they’re doing. They genuine care and passion for detail. Exceeded my expectations.

Do not use Minor Customs for anything!! RESPONSE TO OWNER- You are charging a customer twice for the same thing because you lost a technician is robbery. Yes, you are correct there were boxes of parts YOU said were no problem to have there in the event any of them could be used. I did not ask for you to have a well-paid technician to dedicate an unnecessary amount of time looking through junk if he clearly deemed them unusable. You guys are the pros that could easily make this choice. And the first well-paid technician was paid to do so and so was the second one because the first one left. Then was charged hours for the second technician to review what the first one did on the project and where they left off. Why a customer suffers and is charged for a shop losing a tech is a whole other topic.
