T & T Automotive Introduce
For drivers in Richfield, MN, and the surrounding Minneapolis area, T & T Automotive at 601 E 66th St, Richfield, MN 55423, offers a distinctive combination of essential automotive services. Operating as both a gas station and a full-service auto repair shop, T & T Automotive aims to be a convenient and comprehensive stop for vehicle owners. They can be reached at (612) 861-4490 or via mobile at +1 612-861-4490.
T & T Automotive provides a dual environment: a functional gas station area for quick fuel stops and a dedicated service bay area for vehicle repairs. The gas station aspect is designed for convenience, offering self-serve pumps and payment options at the pump, allowing drivers to fill up quickly. Their website confirms they offer Unleaded 87, Unleaded 93, and Bio-Diesel, along with propane and free air for tires, adding to the convenience for local users. Customers often note that their gas prices are competitive, often among the lower in town.
The auto repair portion of T & T Automotive presents a more traditional service environment, featuring a four-bay repair shop. The customer experience in the repair shop, however, appears to be mixed, as indicated by the provided reviews. One customer praises "Jordan" (who is identified on their website as a lead mechanic) and describes him as "very helpful and not pushy/sales-y," highlighting a positive interaction where the staff was able to quickly source and replace tires for an older model minivan. This review suggests an efficient service that prioritizes getting the car back to the customer promptly.
However, another review presents a contrasting experience, detailing a significant dissatisfaction with a horn installation, which resulted in a high bill ($600) for a horn that was not louder than stock and often malfunctioned. This customer felt that their initial request for a "quality, louder horn" and a pre-test was ignored, and that the mechanic proceeded with an expensive installation despite knowing "after-market horns are notoriously unreliable." This feedback points to a potential inconsistency in communication and customer expectation management. It suggests that while some customers experience helpful and non-pushy service, others might encounter situations where their specific requests are not fully met, leading to frustration regarding cost and outcome. This mixed feedback is crucial for local users to consider when choosing T & T Automotive for repair services.
Despite this, the overall impression for the gas station aspect is one of practicality and accessibility, while the repair shop, despite some criticisms, still serves as a full-service facility for the community.
T & T Automotive, positioned under the "Auto Repair Stations" category, offers a comprehensive suite of services that goes beyond just being a gas station. They are equipped as a full-service auto repair shop, specializing in both Asian and American auto repair. Their service capabilities cover a broad range of vehicle needs, aiming to be a one-stop shop for local drivers.
Their services include:
- Full-Service Auto Repair: This encompasses a wide variety of mechanical repairs and diagnostics for various makes and models. Their website states they offer "free diagnosis" for vehicles, which can be a significant benefit for customers seeking to understand their car's issues before committing to repairs.
- Tire Services: As demonstrated by the customer review, they handle tire issues, including sourcing and replacement, even for older or less common models.
- Engine Repair and Diagnostics: Given their full-service nature, they are capable of diagnosing and repairing complex engine problems. Their website mentions "Ask the Mechanic" feature, where customers can ask Jordan, the lead mechanic, questions, indicating expertise in troubleshooting.
- Brake Service: Standard for any auto repair shop, ensuring vehicle safety.
- Oil Changes: Routine maintenance service.
- 24/7 Towing Service: This is a significant added value, providing round-the-clock assistance for vehicle breakdowns throughout the Twin Cities area. This service is available any time, day or night.
- Commercial Vehicle Service: This suggests they have the capability to service not just passenger vehicles but also light commercial fleets.
- Gas Station Services: As mentioned, they provide Unleaded 87, Unleaded 93, and Bio-Diesel fuel, along with propane and free air for tires. This makes them a convenient stop for essential vehicle needs.
- Propane and Free Air: These additional offerings enhance their utility as a comprehensive vehicle service point.
The "Ask the Mechanic" feature, specifically mentioning Jordan's credentials (2-year Dakota County Technical College Degree in Auto Repair & Applied Science, Advanced Electrical / Diagnostic Program at Alexandria Technical College), highlights their commitment to expertise and a direct line of communication with a qualified professional. This suggests a focus on skilled diagnostics and problem-solving, aiming to provide solutions that might be more cost-effective than dealership options for complex issues.
T & T Automotive's distinctive features combine the convenience of a gas station with the functionality of a repair shop:
- Dual Service Model: The combination of self-serve gas pumps and a full-service repair shop under one roof offers unique convenience for drivers.
- 24/7 Towing: This comprehensive towing service is a critical feature, providing emergency assistance at any time, which adds a significant layer of security for their customers.
- Free Diagnosis for Repairs: Offering a free diagnosis before committing to work is a customer-friendly policy that can help build trust and transparency.
- Specialization: Their stated specialization in Asian and American auto repair indicates a focused expertise, appealing to owners of popular vehicle makes.
- Customer-Oriented Approach (Mixed Results): While one review highlights the staff's helpfulness and non-pushy demeanor, the other underscores a critical failure in meeting customer expectations and addressing concerns after service. This suggests that while a commitment to customer satisfaction exists, consistency might vary. The website claims they "strive to know our customers on a first name basis" and "don't take your loyalty lightly," reflecting an intention to build strong customer relationships.
- Convenient Location: Situated close to the Mall of America and the airport, they offer the convenience of keeping a car for service while customers travel or are on vacation, a unique benefit for travelers.
Based on the available information, T & T Automotive promotes its services primarily through its comprehensive offerings and convenience. While explicit, short-term promotional deals are not detailed in the provided reviews, their standard features can be considered promotional:
- Competitive Gas Prices: Customers frequently mention that their gas prices are among the lowest in the area, serving as a constant draw for fuel-ups.
- Free Air for Tires: This simple but valuable amenity is a practical draw for drivers.
- Free Diagnosis: As mentioned, the offer of a free diagnosis for repairs is a significant promotional tool, reducing the initial barrier for customers to bring their vehicles in.
- 24/7 Towing: This constant availability serves as a promotional aspect, assuring customers that help is always at hand.
Their emphasis on knowing customers by name and providing solutions that are often "much cheaper than the dealership options" also acts as an ongoing promotion of their value proposition. For current, specific discounts or offers, it is always recommended for local users to contact T & T Automotive directly via phone or visit their official website.

Jordan screwed me on a horn install. I asked him up front to let me know if it was gonna be a quality, louder horn - to test it first, and let me know. He just installed it and surprised me WITH A $600 BILL. To make matters worse - the horn doesn't even work half the time and when it does, it is weak/no louder than my stock horn. I brought it to his attention and he tried billing me again to remove it, while telling me "yeah, those after-market horns are notoriously unreliable." WHAT A DISSERVICE & he showed his true character: ignore customers' requests; do the wrong thing; and make money off them at all costs! UN-BELIEVE-ABLE!!!

Recently took our van to T&T for a tire issue on the morning it was discovered for an older model minivan. We knew the tires were in need of replacement, but had been dragging our feet since they weren't readily available in retail spots. They were able to get the tires in that day and we got our car back that afternoon. Jordan is always very helpful and not pushy/sales-y.

I got a tow from Mark this morning. I’m not used to good service from a tow truck so we he pulled up to not only tow my car away but he also looked it over and accessed what was wrong for me. No mark didn’t fix it on the spot but he did help me more than most tow drivers would. Good work Mark, it’s appreciated. Once to the tow shop I noticed mark helping some mechanics opening a car that was locked shut. The man steps up when needed.

So they quoted me the exact same rate as the dealer (I checked both), but due to a friend's recommendation I went with them. The work he did turned out to be a quite a bit more than the dealership would've charged me, and I circled back with them and they laughed and said they wouldn't have charged me extra for the same stuff that he did. Lesson learned.

During the pandemic, I had a very memorable AAA tow truck driver (the owner, or someone in the owner’s family?). It was late at night, he was very kind, and it was very admirable that he was working through the night to keep the business alive during a difficult time. Since that night, I made it a point to go to T & T for gas instead of big chains to at least try to contribute to a small business. Last week when I discovered a nail in my tire and a lot of air leaking out, I knew exactly where I wanted to go! I called Monday morning to ask if it was something they could help with, the older gentleman on the phone asked if I’d be willing to leave the car with them for the day. No problem, so I asked if I needed an appointment and he said no. Unfortunately, it was raining and I wasn’t keen on walking home in the rain after dropping it off. My other ride became available after lunch. Since I wasn’t told to make an appointment, I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal. When I arrived at 1:30 I told the older gentleman the issue with my tire again and that I had heard I could drop it off and they’d be able to take a look. I was received with a long stare and, “Oh you heard that, did you? Well I don’t know if we can help you”. That threw me a bit and I wasn’t sure what to say. I thought he was joking so I said, “Ever? Like, you won’t be able to help me at all?” The elderly man began to respond, “Did I say that? Did I say we couldn’t fix it?” The whole interaction became tense and weird. He was really adamant on telling me he couldn’t guarantee it getting done today, which I never assumed, expected, or asked for. I tried to make that clear by saying I would just be happy if they could take a look eventually at some point when they had the time. The man said, “Well we don’t just keep cars here for weeks at a time” and that he had expected me right after we spoke in the morning, that they were waiting for me, and that I should have called to let them know I wasn’t coming in. This confused me quite a bit since he had told me earlier that I didn’t need to make an appointment. I’ve never been asked to cancel for an inquiry. It was clear at that point anything I said was going to upset the older gentleman. It got to the point where I asked him if there was something wrong. He told me I came in with a “snotty attitude,” he didn’t like the way I told him to look at my car, and that if I was worried I should probably just put air in the tire. Towards the end of the interaction he asked me what I was “crying about.” I usually don’t let people get to me. I even feel silly writing a review on this and I don’t have any intention on smearing your business. But it was such a strange and extremely rude encounter. That man came out the gate hot, and I didn’t deserve it. I really wanted to give you my business. I don’t doubt the work you do at T&T is great. But I wouldn’t know.
