Smittys Service Center Introduce

Smittys Service Center, located at 3349 W Russell Rd, Tecumseh, MI 49286, USA, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, offering a range of services for local vehicle owners. As a traditional auto repair shop, Smittys Service Center aims to provide mechanical work necessary to keep vehicles in proper working order. Their services encompass various aspects of automotive maintenance and repair, catering to the general needs of the community's drivers.

The environment at Smittys Service Center, like many established auto repair shops, is primarily a functional space designed for vehicle diagnostics and repair. While specific details about a customer waiting area or amenities are not extensively detailed in public information, the focus would be on the efficiency of the garage and the professionalism of the service staff. The facility is equipped to handle various mechanical tasks, suggesting multiple service bays and the necessary tools for different types of automotive work. The expectation for customers would be a practical and straightforward environment where their vehicle's issues are addressed by the technical team.

Smittys Service Center offers a variety of essential automotive services to address common vehicle issues and maintenance needs. Based on available information and typical offerings for an "Auto Repair Station," their services likely include:

  • **Brake Services:** Comprehensive inspection, diagnosis, and replacement of brake pads, rotors, calipers, and brake fluid flushes, as indicated by a positive customer review where brakes were inspected and replaced.
  • **Suspension & Steering Repair:** Including replacement of components like shocks and struts, which was also noted in a favorable customer experience where rear shocks were replaced.
  • **Engine Diagnostics & Repair:** Addressing issues indicated by warning lights, engine performance problems, and component replacements such as thermostats and valve cover gaskets, as mentioned in customer feedback.
  • **Fluid Checks & Flushes:** Ensuring proper levels and quality of various automotive fluids.
  • **Hose & Belt Replacement:** Repairing or replacing worn or damaged hoses and belts that are critical for engine operation and cooling.
  • **General Maintenance:** Likely includes services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and other routine checks essential for vehicle longevity.

The core business is to diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs to restore vehicle functionality and safety.

The features of Smittys Service Center, as revealed through customer experiences, present a mixed picture. On the positive side, a satisfied customer highly recommends the center for mechanical work, praising their thoroughness: "They looked at the brakes and showed me that they were getting to the point where I should replace them... They also showed me where the rear shocks were leaking. And had them replace them also. They did a great job. I would recommend them highly. Will be back if I need any more mechanical work!" This indicates a staff that can effectively diagnose issues, transparently communicate findings, and perform quality repairs, earning customer trust and repeat business.

However, another review details a highly negative experience, highlighting significant concerns about **pricing, workmanship, and customer service**. The customer's mother reportedly spent "$1200 to replace the thermostat a couple hoses and replace a valve gasket," with specific pricing for tasks like a thermostat change ($250) and valve cover gasket replacement ($500) being deemed "ridiculous" for the scope of work. More critically, a week after the initial service, a new hose blew due to a malfunctioning new thermostat, leading to an inconvenient and potentially damaging situation. The customer's attempt to address this post-service issue allegedly met with extreme rudeness from a staff member named Tim, who reportedly refused to "guarantee another person's work" and made dismissive comments. This review points to serious issues with **post-service support, accountability, and professional conduct**, particularly concerning communication with a female customer. The sentiment "Poor customer service, poor workmanship, and no guarantees" reflects a complete breakdown of trust and satisfaction, leading to a loss of the customer and their network.

The stark contrast between these reviews suggests variability in customer experience, potentially depending on the specific service provided, the technician involved, or the interaction with different staff members. While one customer found the communication and work to be excellent, another encountered significant issues regarding pricing, the quality of a recent repair, and notably, the resolution of a subsequent problem, which was compounded by what was perceived as disrespectful customer service. For an auto repair station, consistency in both technical work and customer interaction is paramount for building a reliable reputation.

As for promotional information, explicit details about ongoing promotions or special offers for Smittys Service Center are not publicly available in the provided information. However, the presence of positive word-of-mouth recommendations, such as the one from the satisfied customer who "would recommend them highly" and "will be back," acts as a form of organic promotion, indicating that the center has successfully delivered good service for some clients. Conversely, the highly negative review, with its strong statements about poor service and workmanship and a vow to "never use Smitty's again," acts as a significant deterrent. In the absence of specific promotional packages, the center's reputation is built primarily on the direct experiences of its customers. For potential customers, it would be advisable to call Smittys Service Center at (517) 423-7672 or +1 517-423-7672 to inquire about their services, pricing, and any current offers, as well as to gauge the initial customer service interaction.

Only putting in 1 star because there was no option for zero stars. I'm writing because my Mother just spent $1200 to replace the thermostat a couple hoses and replace a valve gasket. So on that alone was rather ridiculous $250 to change a thermostat (which takes 5 minutes to anyone with a pulse). And $500 to replace the valve cover gasket. This is a bigger job, but still ridiculous. A week later a hose blew with radiator fluid all over the engine causing it to smoke all over. This was due to the new thermostat not opening properly so it caused pressure to blow the bypass hose. I fixed this for my mother as she was stranded on a Sunday (so the shop was not open), so we had to fix it. Along with that we replaced the new thermostat as it was not functioning and creating a vacuum lock on the return hose after the thermostat. So I replaced the thermostat as well. My mom went to the garage today to show them the blown hose and get feedback. From the moment she walked in, Tim was over the top rude saying he can't guarantee another person's work, and saying the hose we replaced was going to blow up her motor, and generally being extremely rude. If that was true, he could have replaced the hose and thermostat himself. What is his problem, because she is a woman he can be rude to her? She just spent $1200 on a half hour job, and he's the one that is angry? Ridiculous. We and our network, will never use Smitty's again. Poor customer service, poor workmanship, and no guarantees. This is not the only time he's been rude. All they would have needed to do was apologize and cover the parts and we'd have all understood and used them again. For less than $100 he lost a bunch of customers.

I took my vehicle to smitty’s service center to check my brakes. They looked at the brakes and showed me that they were getting to the point where I should replace them before winter, the vehicle has 209.000 thousand miles on it . So i told them to go ahead and replace them . They also should me where the rear shocks were leaking. And had them replace them also. They did a great job. I would recommend them highly. Will be back if I need any more mechanical work!

As a mechanic I’m disappointed with this shop. I took my car in for an alignment and was told they couldn’t do it because the struts were bad and the tires were chopped. I knew that was a lie because I just put new tires on the front and there was nothing wrong with the struts. I do my own work to my vehicles but have no way to do my own alignments. I just had my car up on a lift 2 days prior, so I know for sure it didn’t need these other parts they were claiming it needed. They also claimed to have done an alignment but that was never done. I asked to speak with the mechanic personally but he suddenly wasn’t going to be there when I was coming to get the keys. Overall, between the interactions I had with this place and everything that happened, I would not recommend going here and that’s coming from someone who works as a mechanic. Take your money elsewhere.

Great, thorough service. I was in good hands. As a person that doesn’t know much about cars, they were very honest with me. Highly recommended!

A friend of mine came here to have a rattling checked out. They looked at the car and said they would take a look at it. In the end they claim they fixed multiple other things and charged $1200 without her permission and than after they payed they told her...as she was getting into her van that unfortunately the rattle was still there probably coming from the transmission and the car probably wouldn't last much longer. They may be good mechanics? Just be careful they will take advantage of you
