Slicks Motor Sports Introduce
Located at 1627 S Williamston Rd, Dansville, MI 48819, USA, Slicks Motor Sports operates as an auto parts store that also provides repair station services, with a notable specialization in motorcycle parts and related repairs. While categorized as an "Auto Repair Station," their primary focus, particularly in terms of parts, leans heavily towards the powersports segment, specifically motorcycles, including older and vintage models. This dual offering of parts sales and repair services positions them as a valuable resource for local enthusiasts and mechanics in the Dansville area.
The environment at Slicks Motor Sports, based on customer feedback, appears to be undergoing a transition. Historically, it was known as a place where customers could "go and pull own parts," suggesting a more traditional salvage yard or used parts retail setup, likely with a hands-on, perhaps rustic, feel. This kind of environment appeals to those who enjoy the hunt for specific components and the satisfaction of finding exactly what they need for older or specialty vehicles. However, recent reviews indicate a shift in their operational model. Customers have noted that the store is now "only open a couple days a week" and that the business seems "so focused on eBay that a customer can't go and find parts." This suggests a move towards a more online-centric inventory management and sales approach, which, while efficient for the business, has impacted the walk-in customer experience. The physical store's displays for "consumables" are described as "pretty sad," further reinforcing the idea that the direct-to-customer retail experience might be less emphasized than in the past. Despite these changes, the fundamental nature of the business as a source for motorcycle parts, especially used ones, likely remains, albeit with a different access method for customers.
The services offered by Slicks Motor Sports encompass both the sale of auto and motorcycle parts and repair work. Their core strength lies in providing **motorcycle parts**, with a strong emphasis on "stuff for my old bike" and "used older model/vintage dirt bike parts." This indicates a valuable inventory for classic and older motorcycle owners who often struggle to find new parts. While the physical Browse experience for parts might be diminished due to their increased focus on online sales platforms like eBay, customers can still likely inquire about specific parts via phone or online channels. Beyond parts, Slicks Motor Sports also offers **repair work** and **machine work**. This is a significant aspect of their service offering, as it suggests they have the capabilities to not only supply components but also to install them or perform specialized repairs, such as engine work or other mechanical services. The reviews specifically mention customers considering them for "machine work or repairs," implying that this segment of their business maintains a level of quality and reliability that is still valued by the community, even as their retail parts operation evolves.
Key features of Slicks Motor Sports include their **specialization in older and vintage motorcycle parts**. This niche market is underserved by many modern auto parts stores, making Slicks a crucial resource for restoration projects or maintaining classic bikes. The fact that they have been "in the used motorcycle parts business for 45 years" (according to their eBay profile) speaks to a deep well of knowledge and inventory accumulated over decades. Another feature, albeit one that is currently causing some customer friction, is their **strong online presence, particularly on eBay**. While this might detract from the in-person Browse experience, it theoretically expands their reach, allowing customers from a wider geographic area to access their inventory. The personalized and friendly nature of the staff, as noted by one customer ("Good people, friendly"), suggests that despite operational shifts, the human element of customer service remains positive. Their ability to handle "machine work" indicates a higher level of technical expertise beyond simple part sales, offering value-added services to their clientele.
Regarding promotional information, direct details on ongoing promotions or discounts for local users are not available. However, their primary promotional strategy appears to be their **extensive inventory of used motorcycle parts**, particularly those for older models, and their long-standing reputation in this specialized field. For customers who have struggled to find parts elsewhere, Slicks Motor Sports serves as a potential solution. The business's historical reputation as a place where you could "pull your own parts" also functions as a form of promotion, attracting a specific type of customer who appreciates this hands-on approach, even if it's less accessible now. While some customers express disappointment about the limited store hours and the shift towards online sales (which effectively makes Amazon a competitor in their eyes), the continued availability of their repair and machine work services remains a valuable offering. Local users interested in their parts inventory are advised to contact them via phone at (517) 676-0583 or +1 517-676-0583, or to explore their online listings, likely on eBay, to inquire about specific items rather than relying solely on walk-in availability. The value proposition of Slicks Motor Sports for local users lies in its specialized knowledge of motorcycle parts and its repair capabilities, making it a potentially indispensable resource for specific automotive and powersports needs in Dansville, MI.

What the he'll happened, I used to go here all the time, they always had stuff for my old bike. Now they are only open a couple days a week. They are so focused on eBay that a customer can't go and find parts, guess I will just stick to Amazon. Really sucks it was nice to go and pull my own parts and places like that are needed.

Good people, friendly. They aren't putting much effort into staying in business. Not even sure how they stay afloat. Maybe the repair work is good. It used to be. But even the consumable displays are pretty sad. Not sure I'll ever stop again, unless it's for machine work or repairs.

DONT WAIST YOUR TIME! LESS THAN GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. ARE THEY EVEN IN BUSSINES? Never seems open. Poor customer service. Leave an email or message....maybe they contact you back if they think about it. No walk-ins. If you leave a request for parts, they only contact you if they have it. You never know if they even looked. They dont contact you to inform you they looked. Contact Motorcycle and Snowmobile Salvage in Mt. Pleasant Mi. Good knowledgeable and friendly folks there.

I am in the process of Bobber project on a Honda Rebel that was given to me. I contacted Slicks and they responded the next day. Just TEXT them and they will reply. They DO NOT look for your parts request but you can go there on Saturday and look for the parts from 9:00AM - 12:00PM.
