Ron's Auto Restoration

After having Ron doing some engine work which went fine. He suggested a recore for my radiator. When it started to leak he offered to have it redone at no cost. He had my car from July 2024 until October 2024. He does not return phone calls and has an excuse for everything. After not finding a core to replace he said he found a new old stock radiator. It looks freshly painted and leaks in the same place as the original. When I went to pickup the car there was 2 inches of water in the trunk which he claimed was from washing it. Ron must have used a power washer on the entire car, carpeting was wet in places , paint is peeled off of the SS badges, front grill, and blistered above the front bumper. Something happened to the radio antenna, as it used to have a removable mast and now it is a one piece. He will not answer calls or respond to messages. Do not trust him!

Just now deciding to write this review but the experience with Ron was extremely bad. Took my wifes 1968 C10 truck to Ron for a handful of repairs/changes in Feb of 24. Disc brakes, power brakes, power steering, updated retro guages, repair oil leak, repair noisy carrier bearing. Got a quote from Ron and gave him more than he requested as a down payment. Ron said he would have it done within a few weeks so I left the truck with him. After a month, Ron said he was still waiting on some of the parts to come in. After 2 months, he stated that the truck was pretty much done and needed an alignment and i would have it by the end of the week. From that point until mid July i was told nearly once a week that the truck would be done "tomorrow". Meanwhile the truck wasnt even at his garage during most of that time period. He kept saying that it was "getting aligned" at his buddies shop "in Zanesville". He would be ridiculously nice every time i stopped in to check on the truck, saying he was going to do all this extra work to the truck that i didnt ask for free of charge. Also dangled un unbelievable deal on a C30 Squarebody Chevy out there to assumingly get me to back off. This went on for months. Finally in July he said again he would be finished with it "tomorrow". I went to pick up the truck and every single thing i asked him to do was done poorly and needed more work to be done correctly. The power steering pump he added was leaking. The engine was leaking even more oil. The carrier bearing was louder than ever, the new disc brakes were rubbing on the inside of the rims, the windshield wipers didnt work, the headlights didnt work, the dimmer switch for the gauges didnt work. The rear end wheel seals were leaking and the truck never needed or got aligned. I spent weeks fixing all this stuff myself. A few days after i picked the truck up, he was calling about the balance, which had now grown by a significant amount. I told him he could pick up the balance when he dropped the C30 off at my house like he promised 20 times. That never happened... I have no idea where my truck was for 4 months but it was in worse shape when i got it back than it was when i dropped it off. I have never seen a business blatantly lie more often in my life about their services than Rons Restorations. I was extremely close to reporting the truck stolen. DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP.

Ron is awesome! He is knowledgeable and honest and will get the job done right. And all of the nice classic cars on the lot that he’s working on are a perk. I really like checking out what he‘s working on when I stop in. He definitely got my business when something goes wrong on one of my cars, and I hope one day to be able to take a classic car by there or stop in and buy one from him

Ron Woods is the owner of Ron's Restorations and Repairs who I use to consider a friend. I took my 1999 S10 Blazer to him in 2018 to rebuild the engine which he did. I paid him for for labor and parts. Then was interested in having some body work done. He gave me a price of $1500. I agreed to this and paid him $750 down as required. He said he would have it done in 2 weeks. This is 2024 and I am still waiting for my Blazer to be finished and returned. Everytime I ask about it he tells me another story. This is when he promises me extras. For example, he has promised paint, lift kit, new tires, rims to just name a few. This has been going on for almost 6 years and I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I considered him a friend. But enough is enough, I just want my Blazer back completed. I've filed a complaint with the BBB as well. Definitely beware of this business!!

Ron and his shop are fantastic! My 71 Benz was done right by that shop! And I will bring her back when I need to do things better! Ron does it right!
