Rolison's Service Introduce

Rolison's Service, located at 10208 N Saginaw Rd, Clio, MI 48420, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, offering mechanical repair services to local vehicle owners. As a key service provider in Clio, they can be reached for appointments and inquiries at (810) 686-6430.

The environment at Rolison's Service can be inferred through the experiences of their customers. While specific details about their physical facility (e.g., waiting room amenities, number of service bays) are not provided, the nature of auto repair work suggests a functional workshop setting. The interactions described in customer reviews indicate a team that, at times, aims to be accommodating and helpful, especially when faced with urgent repair needs. However, the environment also appears to be one where diagnostic processes can be prolonged and, in some cases, lead to frustration for the customer. The transition of ownership to the "son" suggests a long-standing presence in the community, typical of family-owned automotive businesses.

As an "Auto Repair Station," Rolison's Service provides a range of mechanical repair services. Based on the customer reviews, their primary services revolve around diagnosing and repairing vehicle performance issues. This includes:

  • **Diagnostic Services:** Customers bring vehicles to Rolison's for issues like "wobble" and noise, indicating their role in identifying the root cause of mechanical problems. However, the effectiveness and speed of these diagnostics can vary.
  • **Axle and Half Shaft Bearing Replacement:** One detailed review explicitly mentions the replacement of an axle part and a half shaft bearing, demonstrating their capability to perform these types of drivetrain repairs.
  • **General Mechanical Repairs:** The nature of their business suggests they handle a variety of common automotive issues, although specific examples beyond those mentioned are not provided. The fact that they accept appointments during challenging times like the week between Christmas and New Year's indicates a willingness to accommodate urgent or general mechanical repairs when other shops might be closed or fully booked.
Their primary "goods for sale" are the replacement parts necessary to perform these repairs, which would typically include axles, bearings, and other relevant automotive components. These parts are integrated into their repair services.

The features of Rolison's Service present a mixed picture based on the available customer feedback. On one hand, there's evidence of **willingness to accommodate urgent repairs** and being "fast" when needed. One customer specifically praised them for taking an appointment during the difficult week between Christmas and New Year's when other places were closed or booked, and for turning around the repair by the following Tuesday morning. This flexibility and responsiveness in a bind are significant positive features. The staff are also described as "nice enough people" and "good guys," suggesting a generally friendly demeanor.

However, a major feature that emerges, particularly from a detailed negative review, is **inconsistent diagnostic accuracy and potentially prolonged repair times**. This customer's experience highlights a significant challenge in identifying a "very noticeable wobble" and noise, requiring multiple visits and extensive time (nearly three weeks) for a resolution that ultimately proved incorrect. The accusation of "throwing parts at it" without truly resolving the issue, leading to significant financial outlay ($1300+) for a problem that was later diagnosed elsewhere as a much simpler and cheaper fix ($200 wheel bearing), is a critical point of concern. This suggests that while they are capable of performing repairs, their diagnostic process can sometimes be inefficient, leading to misdiagnoses and unnecessary expenses for the customer. The communication regarding the state of the repair ("it was much better" when it was "EXACTLY the same") also points to a potential issue with transparency and managing customer expectations, which is a key feature of any reliable auto repair station.

Given the mixed customer feedback, specific "promotional information" for Rolison's Service is not explicitly available in the form of traditional advertisements or discount offers. Their primary draw appears to be their capacity to accept appointments during times when other shops might be unavailable, as evidenced by the positive review. This flexibility can be a strong "promotion" for customers in urgent need. However, the detailed negative review significantly impacts any general positive promotion. In the absence of structured promotional campaigns, word-of-mouth would be influenced by both highly satisfied customers who received quick service during a bind and those who experienced frustration due to misdiagnosis and prolonged, ineffective repairs. For an "Auto Repair Station," trust and consistent diagnostic accuracy are paramount promotional assets. The discrepancy between finding a "hero" in an emergency versus a costly, uncorrected repair for a different customer suggests that the business's reputation might be subject to individual experience, making consistent positive promotion challenging without addressing the diagnostic and repair consistency issues.

In conclusion, Rolison's Service in Clio, MI, operates as an "Auto Repair Station" providing general mechanical repairs, with a notable capacity for accommodating urgent service needs. While they demonstrate a willingness to assist customers in a bind and are described as having "good guys," their diagnostic accuracy and consistency in problem resolution appear to be areas of mixed customer experience. For local users, Rolison's Service may be a viable option for quick turnarounds when other shops are unavailable, but potential customers should be aware of the varied experiences regarding their diagnostic processes and the potential for prolonged repair timelines.

Rolison's Service Customer Reviews

I HIGHLY recommend you don’t use this place. They are nice enough people however, I took my vehicle in for a very noticeable wobble, that you couldn’t not only feel but hear. After a week I called and they said they couldn’t hear or feel anything. I was baffled by this and said there is no way you can’t hear it or feel it. I was then told “I didn’t drive it too far, I can have them do it again”. I called back later that day and they said they heard it and were looking into it. Another couple days goes by and they claim the axle had some damage where the inner and outer part of the splines come together and this could be causing the wobble. They change it and it didn’t do anything. So I ask if they can try looking into it more and the guys said his son (who now owns the shop) was great at this type of thing and he would be back the following week and he would have him look at it. I get a call the following week and was relieved to hear they found the issue and they could get it taken care of but it was roughly $900 for the part. At this point I didn’t care because I needed it fixed and was happy they found the issue (half shaft bearing) they call me once the part is in and say “it was all set, we got it taken care of for you and I could come get it.” To my surprise when I got there they said they changed the part “and it was much better” blah blah blah they had so many guys look at it and this and that. At this point I’m beyond furious, but hoped it was truly better than when I brought it there. Mind you this is almost 3 weeks later, which I understand parts take time and they have other customers. I get in my car and pull out it was EXACTLY the same. I immediately call and the guy says “the noise is still there but you can’t feel the wobble”. Which is completely untrue. He then says I can show you the parts were a little wobbly and needed to be changed, (which I’m sure it could have had a little play the car is and older car and our roads suck) and asks if I wanted to bring it back the following Monday? Nice try buddy, you already fooled me once! At the end of the day I was out $1300 plus dollars and 3 weeks without a vehicle for it to be the same thing and then to throw parts at it. I get you have to narrow things down but to throw parts at something when you say “we found the issue” and it’s not then not even mention that it’s not fixed after throwing $900 part on it, is completely unacceptable. You want to hear the best part of it all? I took it to another mechanic who immediately found the issue and it was a $200 wheel bearing! Everyone makes mistake and you can’t please everyone but I am pretty objective and I feel like I was taken advantage of.

Was in a bind and needed some repairs quickly in the limbo that is the week between Christmas and new years. Where everything is closed or booked and impossible to get an appointment for. I called about 10 different places the day after Christmas before a nice lady at Absolute Auto in Clio referred me here. Saying they're some good guys and they're fast. I called and got an appointment for the following Monday. I got calls during the whole process make sure I was okay with the work being done. They fixed it up, turned it around Tuesday morning. It's running great thank you!

My car needed a tire rotation and alignment. I first went to Tuffy’s they said my car needed new tie rod ends and 20 new lug nuts (quoted me over $500) just to be able to do the rotation and alignments. I decided to take my car to Rolison’s and they said my car didn’t need any new parts and were able to do alignment and rotations at a fair price.

Recommended by neighbor who has been using Rolisons for several years. Took my Mom's 2006 Chev Aveo in for what I had been told ( by another mechanic) was a front end alignment issue. Paid this other mechanic to fix problem and it was definitely not fixed! Rolisons diagnosed real problem was a bent tie rod and fixed it at a great price right then. Car scooting along like brand new. 🚗 Highly recommend!
