This place is slow and horrible. They took weeks misdiagnosing steering column squeaking in my nearly new 2025 Gen2 R1S with 500 miles on it, replacing the column and module in the process that never resolved the squeaking, but they insisted it was fixed. I said it was not and I refused to take it back. They also tried to return the car to me dirty and with only about 50 miles (20%) of charge remaining. I said I’ll pick it up when it’s fixed. Finally they figured out an improperly seated boot from the factory, and fixed it overnight. I originally had it towed there because software bricked it leaving it an undrivable state throwing about 7 errors. This was the tipping point for me as I lost faith in the company and have since sold my nearly new car. It was a love hate relationship, but in the end for the better as this service center and company as a whole have a lot of maturing left to do. If the company still exists in 6-8 years, maybe they’ll get their act together, but until then moving on to more trustworthy and reliable waters. Goodbye Rivian!

I feel like the only good reviews are people who have actually not had the car for very long at all. Granted, it’s a very pretty vehicle to look at but other than the surface that’s all it has. Within two weeks of having my Rivian R1 S, we experienced issues with the sensors which deactivated many features of the car including auto pilot. When I tried to make an appointment, I was told that the nearest appointment would be three months later. After about two weeks of driving the car, I told them that I did not feel safe and that I would be happy to drop off the car for a loaner and they could keep my car until they could fix the issue. Miraculously, they found me an appointment the following week. I live in Ventura county and so the nearest service center is in El Segundo, which is still not very close, especially when battling traffic. When dropping the car off very close to closing, the service advisors were extremely rude and refused to do a test drive with me because they said that it was time for them to go home. After a week in the shop, they returned the car to me after which immediately the next morning, the same sensor issue went off again. When contacting customer service yet again for the same exact issue in addition to another issue where the car loses traction during acceleration, I was again told that the next appointment would now be all the way down in Costa Mesa, which is over 90 miles from my house (and that the appointment would be in three months). I had to take a day off of work and drive the car all the way down there. I must admit, while I was at the service center, the Costa Mesa service advisors were much more friendly and open to listening to my issues as compared to the El Segundo service center. It has been two weeks since they’ve had the car and in the meantime, they apparently have had to replace the entire rear drive train of the car. Mind you, I have had this car for barely 3 months during which time the car has now been in service at least three weeks out of that time. When I asked them to return the car to me because it is too much of a drive, they were extremely rude and acted as if it was my fault that I chose such a far service center. Please avoid this car company at all costs. They are not at all prepared for mass production. They have no idea how to treat customers. It’s been headache after headache dealing with them. I don’t even feel safe driving the car. Hopefully this review will help someone avoid this disaster of a company/car.

I had three experiences with the Rivian Costa Mesa service center. Once for a test drive, which went very well, once when I dropped in at near closing time to ask some question, and once to pick up my new R1S. Matt was very helpful when I dropped in. I even had a question he couldn’t answer, but I had an email with the answer from him by the time I got home. Today at delivery, Gabe and I took it for a spin, he walked me through everything, and we did the paperwork right on the tailgate. Very smooth and easy. Great experience, and loving the car.

Start with it’s a great vehicle. Stops there. As other reviews mention just lip service! The left hand doesn’t talk to the right hand. You’re told one thing the next day told another! Frustrating! Took months longer to get the vehicle the projected, the order summary was wrong, the lease agreement numbers were incorrect, the tailgate has a dent in it upon delivery, were fighting for a $750 credit which we've been told over and over was coming. Who has time to correct everyone else’s issues that work there. Go elsewhere like TESLA!
