Reed's Automotive Enterprises Introduce

Reed's Automotive Enterprises, located at 926 Main St, Lemont, IL 60439, USA, operates as an auto repair station providing essential services and goods for sale to vehicle owners in the Lemont community. As a local establishment in the "Auto Repair Stations" category, it aims to cater to the diverse needs of motorists, from routine maintenance to addressing specific vehicle issues.

The environment at Reed's Automotive Enterprises, situated on Main Street in Lemont, is characteristic of a local automotive repair shop. Main Street often serves as a central hub in smaller towns, suggesting the shop is easily accessible to residents. While specific details about the interior aesthetics or customer amenities are not widely available, a typical auto repair station would feature a functional and organized workspace. This includes service bays equipped with various tools for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance tasks. A reception area would be present for customer interactions, where vehicle issues can be discussed and estimates provided. The focus of such a local business would primarily be on practical functionality and efficient service delivery. The building's location on a main thoroughfare likely ensures good visibility and convenient access for customers needing to bring their vehicles in for service.

Reed's Automotive Enterprises would generally offer a range of services typical of a comprehensive auto repair station. While a complete, exhaustive list of their specific offerings is not detailed in the provided information, standard services within this category would include:

  • General Vehicle Diagnostics: Utilizing tools to identify problems indicated by dashboard warning lights or unusual vehicle behavior, leading to accurate repair recommendations.

  • Routine Maintenance: Essential services such as oil changes (conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic), tire rotations, fluid checks and top-offs (e.g., coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid), and various filter replacements (air, cabin, fuel) to ensure optimal vehicle performance and longevity.

  • Brake Services: Comprehensive inspections, replacement of brake pads and rotors, brake fluid flushes, and repair of brake lines or calipers, vital for vehicle safety.

  • Engine Repair and Tune-ups: Addressing issues related to engine performance, efficiency, and major repairs when necessary, including spark plug replacement and fuel system services.

  • Transmission Services: Diagnosis and maintenance of transmission systems, including fluid changes and addressing common transmission problems.

  • Steering and Suspension Repair: Services to ensure proper vehicle handling, comfort, and safety, including the repair or replacement of shocks, struts, ball joints, and tie rods.

  • Electrical System Diagnostics and Repair: Troubleshooting and fixing problems with the car's electrical components, such as batteries, alternators, starters, and wiring issues.

  • Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Services: Repair and recharging of vehicle air conditioning systems and addressing issues with the heating system for cabin comfort.

  • Tire Sales and Services: Likely offering new tire sales, mounting, balancing, and flat tire repair.

  • Fluid Services: Beyond oil and brake fluid, this includes power steering fluid, transmission fluid, and coolant flushes and replacements.

The features of Reed's Automotive Enterprises, based on the provided customer reviews, present a mixed picture, highlighting both strengths and areas where customers have experienced challenges.

  • Quality of Work (Collision/Body Repair): One positive review specifically praises "Ed" for doing a "great job on our Caddy," emphasizing that the work was "very well done," especially notable on a black car where imperfections are easily visible. This suggests a capability for high-quality cosmetic or body-related repairs.

  • Convenience: The positive review also highlights the convenience of picking up the vehicle "after hours," which is a valuable feature for customers with busy schedules.

  • Customer-Centric Approach (When Positive): The willingness to accommodate after-hours pickup indicates a focus on customer convenience and service flexibility.

  • Communication and Follow-Through Concerns: A significant point of concern raised in another review is a severe lack of communication and follow-through. This customer reported weeks of waiting for a quote after dropping off their vehicle, with repeated calls yielding no concrete information. This suggests inconsistency in their communication processes and potentially in their ability to provide timely estimates and project management.

  • Potential for Delays: The experience of the frustrated customer points to potential delays in the diagnostic and quoting process, which can be highly inconvenient and frustrating for vehicle owners needing timely repairs.

While one customer had a very positive experience with the quality of the repair and convenience, another faced considerable frustration due to a perceived lack of responsiveness and inability to provide a quote, ultimately leading them to go elsewhere. This indicates that customer experience at Reed's Automotive Enterprises might be inconsistent, with the core repair work potentially being strong, but administrative and communication aspects needing improvement.

For promotional information, Reed's Automotive Enterprises could consider the following strategies, while also aiming to address the feedback received:

  • Highlight Quality Work: Emphasize the positive feedback regarding the quality of their repairs, particularly if they specialize in certain types of work (e.g., bodywork, as indicated by the "Caddy" review). Showcase any before-and-after photos if available.

  • Promote Convenience Features: Clearly advertise conveniences like "after-hours pick-up" to attract customers who value flexibility.

  • Focus on Customer Satisfaction (with a focus on communication): While promoting positive experiences, it would be crucial to implement and publicly emphasize a commitment to clear, timely, and consistent communication with all customers, especially regarding estimates and repair progress. This could involve:

    • Guaranteed Estimate Turnaround Time: Promise an estimate within a specific, short timeframe after vehicle drop-off.

    • Regular Updates: Inform customers of repair progress via their preferred method (phone, text, email).

    • Dedicated Service Advisor: Assign a single point of contact for each customer to streamline communication.

  • Offer Free Estimates: Standard for auto repair, this encourages customers to come in for an initial assessment without obligation.

  • Local Advertising: Utilize local print media, community boards, and online directories to reach the Lemont community. Emphasize their local presence.

  • Online Presence Improvement: Ensure their website (if available) is up-to-date with a comprehensive list of services, hours, and contact information. Online scheduling or inquiry forms could also help manage customer requests more efficiently.

  • Address Feedback: If they have a platform for customer reviews, respond to all feedback, positive and negative, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Reed's Automotive Enterprises in Lemont, IL, offers a range of auto repair services, with evidence of delivering high-quality repair work and convenient options like after-hours pickup. However, to consistently meet customer expectations and build a universally strong reputation, addressing and improving communication and follow-through on estimates will be key to their continued success and customer trust in the local market.

I wish I would’ve had a chance to try them out, but after calling for weeks I give up. I take my car there because it’s having issues, they keep it for a day and then tell me they have to call me with an quote. So I pick up my car and wait a couple of days, then I call and they still can’t get me a quote. This goes on for a few weeks before I just gave up. It took me a minute to find a price online for the part I mainly was just wondering about the labour. I just don’t get it

I broke down . The police called them to help. I was assured they would take credit cards. ( I had no access to cash) The driver came & hooked the car up without seeing me.(I was talking to the police. Then told me it was cash only. And since it was hooked up I must have $200. They took the car to the shop. Next day I asked them to look at it 4 hours later A very rude lady called & said that they don't know what's wrong yet & won't look at it until Monday. (Four days later.) In the meantime it is a $30 a day storage fee. I had to call another tow to get my car back. Even then they tried to make it very hard so my car would be locked up for the weekend (at $30 a day) I got my car back but I am out $355 and had to miss 2 hours of work to get it back & no repairs were done.

Absolutely horrid customer service, old man (I presume the owner) wouldn’t even look me in eyes as he over charged for parts. I pulled it up online when he tried charging me $400 for a $29 dollar part? Are you kidding me? Then you’re too much of a coward to look at me as I call you out. Don’t recommend. Wish I could give 0 stars

I have been using Reeds for over 35 years....he's done body work on my first car which was a 1966 Pontiac Catalina to current day and I've also purchased cars from them. Ed is great and you won't be disappointed!
