Redford Auto Repair Introduce
Redford Auto Repair is an establishment categorized under "Auto Repair Stations," located at 32121 Ford Rd, Garden City, MI 48135, USA. They can be contacted by phone at (734) 237-4344 or via mobile at +1 734-237-4344. As an auto repair station, their primary function is to provide various services for the maintenance and repair of vehicles, catering to the needs of local residents.
The environment at Redford Auto Repair, based on typical auto repair shops, would include a garage area with multiple bays for vehicle servicing, equipped with lifts and diagnostic tools. There would likely be a front office or reception area for customer interactions, where clients can discuss their car's issues, receive estimates, and make payments. While specific details about the cleanliness or amenities of their waiting area are not provided, the operational environment is expected to facilitate the process of vehicle diagnosis and repair. Customer reviews, however, shed light on the interactive environment within the shop. The mention of staff, such as "Ack" being helpful and "very nice," suggests that at times, the customer service environment can be positive and accommodating, aiming to work with customers on affordability and fitting in urgent repairs. Conversely, other feedback describes a frustrating communication environment characterized by a lack of proactive updates and perceived evasiveness, which indicates inconsistencies in the customer service experience within the overall environment of the shop.
The services offered by Redford Auto Repair, as an "Auto Repair Stations" provider, would typically cover a broad spectrum of vehicle maintenance and repair needs. Based on the customer reviews, specific services include:
- Transmission Repair/Replacement: A significant service highlighted is the handling of a "dead" transmission, indicating their capability to perform major drivetrain repairs, specifically on stick-shift vehicles. This is often a complex and specialized service.
- General Small Repairs/Maintenance: One review mentions that the customer initially visited for "small things," suggesting they handle routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, minor fixes, and preventative services.
- Diagnostic Services: While not explicitly stated as a separate service, the nature of diagnosing a "dead" transmission or a non-starting car implies their capacity for vehicle diagnostics to identify underlying problems.
- Tire Pressure Sensor Repair/Replacement: One review mentions that a "tire pressure sensor" was broken, which indicates they handle issues related to tire maintenance and TPMS systems.
In general, a typical auto repair station would also offer services such as engine repair, brake service, suspension work, exhaust system repair, electrical system diagnostics, and air conditioning service. While these are not directly mentioned in the provided reviews, they are standard for a comprehensive auto repair shop.
The features of Redford Auto Repair, as gleaned from the customer feedback, present a mixed bag, highlighting both strengths and significant weaknesses:
- Capacity for Major Repairs: The ability to undertake a complex transmission replacement is a key feature, indicating they can handle significant mechanical work that goes beyond routine maintenance.
- Efforts Towards Affordability: One positive review notes that the staff "worked with me so it was more affordable," suggesting a willingness to consider customer budgets and potentially offer solutions that manage costs.
- Warranty on Work: A valuable feature mentioned is that "all their work is under warranty," providing customers with an assurance of quality and recourse if issues arise post-repair.
- Customer Service (Variable): There are conflicting accounts of customer service. One review praises a staff member ("Ack") for being "fast and very nice" and accommodating a customer even when "backlogged." This suggests instances of good customer care. However, another, much longer review details a consistently poor communication experience, with a lack of proactive updates, unfulfilled promises, and perceived dishonesty from the service provider, which paints a very negative picture of their customer interaction practices.
- Diagnostic and Repair Thoroughness (Questionable): While some repairs may be completed, one review points to panels under the hood being "not even reattach" and a car failing to start shortly after extensive work, suggesting potential issues with thoroughness and quality control for some repairs. The history of a broken tire pressure sensor further contributes to this concern.
- Timeliness and Adherence to ETAs (Poor): A significant recurring feature, based on a negative review, is the consistent failure to meet estimated timelines ("Every ETA he gave he FAILED to meet") and a lack of proactive communication regarding delays.
- Pricing Transparency (Contested): While one customer found the pricing "affordable," another reported being told about "discounts" that did not materialize, with the final price matching the initial, higher estimate, leading to a perception of dishonesty regarding costs.
Regarding promotional information, specific advertising campaigns for Redford Auto Repair are not detailed. However, auto repair shops often rely on several common promotional strategies:
- Service Warranties: The mention of "all their work is under warranty" serves as a direct promotional point, reassuring customers about the quality and durability of the repairs.
- Affordability/Value: The willingness to make services "more affordable" for customers can be a promotional angle, appealing to those seeking cost-effective solutions.
- Quick Service (when applicable): For certain services, the ability to be "fast" can be a promotional draw, particularly for routine maintenance or minor repairs.
- Customer Testimonials (Mixed Impact): While they may encourage reviews, as mentioned in one feedback, the overall impact of customer testimonials is highly variable. Positive reviews can serve as powerful word-of-mouth promotion, highlighting good experiences and encouraging new customers. Conversely, highly negative reviews, particularly those detailing significant service issues and perceived dishonesty, can act as a deterrent, undermining any positive promotional efforts. In the case of Redford Auto Repair, the conflicting nature of reviews means that word-of-mouth promotion will be heavily influenced by individual experiences.
- Local Presence and Accessibility: Being located on Ford Rd in Garden City provides them with visibility and accessibility to local residents, which is a fundamental promotional aspect for any local business.
In conclusion, Redford Auto Repair operates as an "Auto Repair Stations" in Garden City, MI, offering a range of services from routine maintenance to complex transmission repairs. The customer experience at this establishment appears to be highly variable. While some clients report positive interactions, affordability, and timely service, particularly when specific staff members are involved, other detailed accounts highlight significant issues with communication, adherence to timelines, perceived honesty regarding pricing and progress, and potentially incomplete workmanship. Their promotional efforts likely include emphasis on their service warranty and willingness to work on affordability. However, the diverse and sometimes strongly negative customer feedback means that any promotional messages are heavily counteracted by real-world experiences, making it crucial for potential customers to weigh all available information before deciding to utilize their services.

Awful experience. I brought my car in at the end of February when the trans died. The car is a stick shift, and I wasn't surprised when I was told finding the parts would take awhile. A week and a half passed. I hear nothing from them. I call. He says he found the parts out of state, and he was lucky to because he's really had to search and he was lucky to find this one(remember this part). The cost is $4,000 and he wants a $2,000 deposit. Ok. Two weeks pass. I hear nothing. I call. He says he'll call me back. When he does, he gives me this BS story, "Aw yeah man I called the place with the trans and they said it broke during delivery and they didn't tell me. Their communication is so bad." Which is him deflecting from the fact I always had to call HIM for an update, he never called me. "They broke it, never told me, but I found you another one and it'll be here in a week, I even waived the extra shipping fees and everything." So first it took so long because he couldn't find a trans, but upon finding out it "broke" he found another one within an hour for the same price? Shipping fees when it never shipped? He's mentally defective if he thought I bought that story for a second, but I figured best to just whatever and assume he will now fix it after realizing he didn't finalize the order or something and that's the real reason it didn't show up. Says another week. Wanna take a guess if it was a week or if he even called to update me? Two weeks pass. He's thanked me for being so patient, and me giving him the benefit of the doubt. But I haven't heard anything, again, so I call wanting an update. "It's at the other location, I'll call you right back." I called at 8:45am. By 1:30pm and not hearing anything, I was done being patient. Two months of absolutely no progress and me giving them 2 grand for seemingly NO reason, and the BS lies and excuses week after week. Every ETA he gave he FAILED to meet. So after two months of treating him with respect, I called and demanded results by the next day or I would get my money back and record their competitors driving my car off their lot. He played victim like a coward, "waah you're so mean I'm so helpful." Guess what? I'm getting multiple calls the next day saying the car is finished. Couldn't call me once when I treated him with the respect I never received, but now he's blowing up my phone. He has the audacity to play victim to my face and whine about how mean I am. He says he gave me all these discounts, but guess what I paid? The $4,000 he said it would be at the beginning. So the "discounts" were another LIE. He told me to write a review on how helpful he was and how thankful I should be. Well, this is the review he deserves. Not only did I get the worst service I've ever experienced, for two months, I find they didn't even reattach the panels under the hood, there's just loose panels sitting on top of cables. And today, not even a week after getting it back, it won't start. Likely a battery death from sitting unused for two months while he did nothing with my money or car. When I first came here, a year ago, it was only for small things, and they accomplished those. Always begging for a review afterwards, but on principle I don't give reviews until they do something big. This was the big one, and they FAILED and lied to my face about it. I don't know if it has new management from a year ago, but I'm never coming here again and you shouldn't either. Disgraceful service, you'd be better off asking one of the crack heads down the street to fix your car. Oh yeah, they also broke the tire pressure sensor the last time I went but I blew it off as whatever. I should have known that was the red flag. Go else where.

Had a great experience at Redford Auto in Garden City. Ack assisted me. Worked with me so it was more affordable. They were backlogged; but, he was still able to fit me in while I waited for the work to be done. They were fast and very nice. He made sure to let me know that all their work is under warranty and if I had any trouble to just come back and they would take care of it. I appreciate all you did. Thank you so much.

Redford auto took care of my 2022 Silverado when I had a serious problems with my converter. I kept getting a code P420 and they worked on all sorts of repairs to make it run smooth again. Highly recommend and they are trustworthy.

Omg! This place is heaven sent for me! Sounds way too dramatic, but Ack and his team just saved me from buying a whole new car! My car was making weird noises, it turned out I needed a full new brake, and they found out that my engine had no oil. This team is very honest and charge you within reasonable price. Definitely a place to go, if you need a service for any car related issues. Thank you Ack and the team for taking care of my car, and offering your service to check the level of my oil here and there in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
