Raven Industries AZ LLC Introduce
For the residents of Tempe, Arizona, and the wider Phoenix metropolitan area, Raven Industries AZ LLC, located at 1838 E 3rd St, positions itself within the Auto Repair Stations category with a noted specialization in differential repair. The available customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences, offering potential local users a mixed perspective on the services provided.
One detailed review paints a picture of a highly competent and customer-focused environment. This customer sought repair for a rear-end whine in their Tahoe, suspected to be pinion or carrier bearing related. They were referred to Raven Industries by a commercial gear shop, indicating a level of trust within the professional automotive community for differential work. The reviewer described receiving a fair price quote for a comprehensive repair and was given a remarkably quick turnaround estimate. The actual service exceeded expectations: the repair was completed faster than estimated, at a lower cost than quoted because unnecessary parts (a new gear set) did not need replacement, saving the customer money. This positive experience highlights quality work, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and honesty in diagnosing the issue and only performing necessary repairs.
However, another equally detailed review presents a significantly negative experience. This customer brought their vehicle in for a differential rebuild, agreeing to a $500 price. The narrative then details a substantial price increase due to an alleged inability to disassemble the differential case, leading to the forced purchase of a new case and other parts, escalating the cost to $1500. Following the repair, the customer reported a grinding noise and subsequent dissatisfaction with the shop's explanation and refusal to address it. Furthermore, they claimed that necessary seals were not replaced, leading to leaks, and that the shop provided misleading information about the availability and cost of these parts. The reviewer concluded with strong accusations of dishonesty and recommended against using Raven Industries.
The services offered by Raven Industries AZ LLC clearly include differential repair and rebuilding. The first review suggests expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex rear-end issues, potentially saving customers money by accurately identifying the root cause and avoiding unnecessary replacements. The referral from a commercial gear shop further implies a specialized knowledge in this area. However, the second review casts doubt on the reliability and transparency of these services, alleging potential upselling and failure to properly address the customer's concerns post-repair.
A key feature, according to the positive review, is the honesty and efficiency of the service. The shop was commended for completing the work quickly, under budget, and without replacing unnecessary parts. This suggests a commitment to ethical practices and efficient problem-solving. In stark contrast, the negative review accuses the shop of dishonesty, unnecessary charges, and a lack of resolution for issues arising after the repair.
The conflicting accounts make it challenging to definitively assess the typical customer experience at Raven Industries. The referral from a commercial entity in the positive review lends some credibility to their expertise in differential work. However, the detailed allegations in the negative review regarding potentially deceptive practices and poor post-service support are serious concerns that potential customers should consider.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any specific promotions or discounts offered by Raven Industries AZ LLC. Given the contrasting customer experiences, potential local users may want to directly inquire about service guarantees, diagnostic fees, and obtain detailed written estimates before committing to any repairs. It might also be prudent to seek additional reviews from other sources to gain a broader understanding of the shop's overall reputation.
In conclusion, Raven Industries AZ LLC in Tempe, AZ, operates within the Auto Repair Stations category with a focus on differential repair. While one customer reported an exceptionally positive experience characterized by quality work, speed, affordability, and honesty, another customer described a highly negative encounter involving a significant price increase, unresolved mechanical issues, and accusations of dishonesty. These conflicting reviews highlight the importance for potential customers to exercise caution, seek detailed information, and possibly compare with other local options before entrusting their vehicle to Raven Industries AZ LLC.

Summary: Quality work completed faster than estimated, at a lower price than estimated, and he didn't replace unnecessary parts that some shops may have done just because he'd put them in the estimate. Definitely 5-star service. Long version: My 2005 Tahoe developed a whine in the rear end that sounded like a jet engine at highway speeds. I got underneath and listened and determined that the pinion and/or carrier bearings were going bad. My employer has a commercial gear shop in Phoenix that they use for heavy truck differential rebuilds, but that shop only handles commercial accounts. They said they recommend only one place for passenger vehicle differentials: Raven Industries in Tempe. I called Raven Industries next and explained my suspicions about the rear end. He quoted me what I felt was a pretty fair price for a new gear set, all new shims and bearings, and labor, and told me that if I could drop it off one morning he'd have it ready by that afternoon. We made an appointment for the next week when he had an opening, and I dropped it off before they opened. By 10am he called to tell me it was done, and that I'd caught the sound before it could damage the gears so the cost would be lower because he only had to do bearings, not the gear set. I picked it up that afternoon, paid $150 less than he had estimated, and can't believe how much quieter the Tahoe has been since he fixed it. Highly recommend Raven Industries to anyone who has a differential issue. -Mike

Ray is the biggest rip off artist I have come across in Arizona. I brought my car to them last November to have the differential rebuilt. He told me it would cost $500 to rebuild and I agreed to that price. I purchased a used set of gears just in case anything was wrong with my factory set. Ray called me the next day and told me they couldn't get my case apart because the side adjusters were seized in the case. He said all they could do was sell me another differential case and purchase a new Truetrac and install my used set of gears to the tune of $1500. I reluctantly agreed and they did so. When I got my car back, the gears made a grinding noise anytime I maintained speed. I told Ray about it and he agreed to look at it. He said nothing was wrong. I took his guy for a spin and he heard the noise and said there was nothing they could do about it, that it was a used set of gears and when you reinstall them they don't always mate up the same way and they can make noise. I also told Ray I wanted all the seals and the bearings replaced for that kind of money. They didn't replace the axle seals and when I got the car back they leaked terribly. When I asked why they weren't replaced, he said it was because they were a dealer only item and were $35 a piece and would take 5 days to get. I found them on Amazon for $6 a piece and had them the next day. I was not satisfied with his answer, but what could I do? I've been driving the car like this for months and learned to live with the noise. I still had the old differential case and I just sold it to a guy who wanted my old diff. He told me he was able to easily back out the side adjusters using the correct tool. He told me it looks the guys at Raven tried to hit them with a screwdriver to make them turn. I was told by Ray the side adjusters were seized and could not be removed. It's obvious to me now Ray saw the opportunity to unload a differential case on me that he didn't want lying around his shop anymore, he made up a story that he couldn't get mine apart so he could sell me the one they had and make an easy buck. These guys are liars and cheats. DO NOT TRUST YOU CAR WITH THEM!

If I could give these guys a negative star I would. I had 4.10 mopar gears installed in my 2015 Ram 1500 back in December of 2016. Truck had to go back for an axle seal in May and then a diff leak August 9th. Well two days later, towing my trailer to San Diego that I have probably towed on about 15 trips since a week after I bought the truck, one of them being to Yellowstone and back, fried the diff clutches and the 4.10 ring and pinion gears. Well after discussing this with 5 different shops and companies including the company I got the mopar gears from and the Ram dealer, the only thing that could have happened was the tech Joey that did the diff leak didn't put friction modifier in. They also used the wrong fluid. Truck calls for a 75w-140 synthetic and the put in a standard 85w-140. After telling Ray this he started yelling at me and telling me I over loaded my truck instantly. He didn't do anything to work with me on the cost of the new parts and charged me 200 to fix their mistake. Do yourself a favor and take your vehicle to AZ Driveshaft.

So.....not to be stereotypical, but, I am a lady with a vehicle that needed some work done and don't know much about car's, much less rear ends. I spoke with Ray at Raven and he explained to me in a way that made sense, as opposed to other places that used terminology that I could not understand. When spending thousands of dollars at a place on work and equipment that is not within my expertise, it makes me feel good that I am not being taken advantage of and that my vehicle is being properly cared for. I highly recommend these guys.

What a great knowledgable group of smart guys. We had Ray and his guys install a ford 8.8 axle, new gears, front and rear lockers in our Tj. They talked with my wife and I for quite some time explaining our different options and price. I highly recommend them to anyone I know!!! Thank you Raven Industries!!!
