Rabid Muscle Cars and Trucks Customer Reviews

I pulled my mother-in-laws 55 Bel Air out of the barn after it had sat for 20+ years. I was referred to Gabe @ Rabid Muscle to get it up and running. Gabe was all over it! Was very thorough and took the time to give us a quote on what it would take to get it on the road again. He kept me up to date as he progressed through this tedious project. Was very honest and upfront through every step. He was also willing to rebuild old parts to keep this car as original as possible. He did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with and I'll take the next one to him as well! We are really enjoying the car, Gabe! Thank you so much!!!

Gabe is excellent to work with. My 68 mustang fastback has been at his shop twice now for upgrades and he has always provided the best service and at a fair price. He has done extensive work on my car, way too much to list, but there isn’t one thing I don’t think he can do. I know that when my car is in his hands that he is treating it as if it were his own, and he stands behind his work. He will always have my business. If you are looking for a shop for your classic car or truck, I would highly recommend giving Rabid Muscle Cars a chance. Thanks again Gabe.

I've been to quite a few mechanics in Athens, and no one even comes close to Rabid customs. The owner, Gabe, is incredibly gifted and stands by his work. More importantly though, he's an honest guy. The other mechanics I visited in town told me they couldn't fix my carburetor and that I needed a new one. For some reason, I didn't think that was right, so I brought it in to Rabid customs. They took a look at it and told me that it was completely fine. They tuned it properly, and saved me quite a bit of time and money. Since then, I've brought my car in for multiple other jobs and the team has always done a fantastic job. Highly recommend these guys!

Took our 1966 Chevelle to Rabid to replace the engine freeze plugs … Gabe is very thorough, and provided pictures of the process as it was proceeding…. We are very pleased with his shop….

I reached out to Rabid Customs in 2020 to do an engine and transmission swap along with lowering my 78 F-150. Gabriel got back to me with a quote that I accepted. I took the truck to his shop in December 2020, and they started on it in late January 2021. The original build was quoted at 6 weeks. We ran into issues sourcing an engine and a couple of other parts. I ended up having the engine built by a local engine shop which they had completed and back to Gabriel by June of 2021. Once Gabriel received the engine, I was told my truck would be the shop's focus and they should have it completed very soon. Gabriel ran into issues with the engine and transmission install and seemed to slowly lose interest in working on my truck. They worked through a couple of issues but ultimately could not get the truck running and driving again. This was after I purchased a built engine that was dyno tested, a new transmission from Monster Transmission, and a new Strange third member. All brand-new parts. I was told after a couple of months that they would work on my truck in their "spare time" to get it completed and that I would have to pay $1800 more upfront if I wanted my truck to become a priority. I was desperate for my truck to get completed so I paid the $1800 and after a couple more months of failure, I decided to call it quits with Rabid Customs and Gabriel. My truck was picked up from Gabriel's in April of 2022 on a rollback and taken to another shop. Once the new shop was able to get my truck on a lift, the new shop called me and showed me some of the repair work by Rabid Customs. This included an air hose used as a transmission line to run trans fluid to the cooler and back, a conduit hook to hold the transmission line, bolts installed backward and rubbing on the twin I beam front suspension, and the new valve covers were scratched up. All of this was found, and the transmission was diagnosed and found to be burned up due to improper transmission valve pressure. I talked with Monster Transmission, and they would not cover it because it was improperly set up by Rabid Customs. I have now got the truck back in my possession and am continuing to find and fix the poor workmanship done by Rabid Customs and his team. This has been a nightmare of an experience and has cost me thousands of dollars more due to Gabriel and the team at Rabid Customs lack of knowledge and experience.
