Payless Autobody & Repair Introduce

Payless Autobody & Repair, located at 3009 5th Ave S in Minneapolis, Minnesota, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, offering a range of automotive repair and maintenance services to the local community. Based on recent customer feedback available online, experiences at this establishment appear to be varied, with both positive and negative aspects highlighted.

One customer reported a significant issue with a radiator replacement performed at Payless Autobody & Repair. According to their review, a hot radiator was replaced in October, but within two months, it had cracked. The customer expressed dissatisfaction with the service, stating that the shop refused to fix the issue without an additional charge of $500. Furthermore, this customer claimed their vehicle was parked in a towing zone by the shop, resulting in impound fees. This review presents a critical perspective on the quality of the initial repair and the shop's handling of subsequent issues.

In contrast, another customer shared a more nuanced experience involving brake and rotor replacement, as well as a power steering pump issue. This customer initially brought their Cadillac to Payless Autobody & Repair for inspection, where they were informed that brake and rotor replacement were necessary, along with a new power steering pump. The cost for the brake and rotor service was $750, which the customer found reasonable for their vehicle's make. However, they declined the initial $500 quote for the power steering pump replacement, believing they could find a more affordable option elsewhere.

This same customer highlighted the exceptional customer service provided by the owner's son, Khalid. They described his service as "amazing" and "above and beyond." Khalid reportedly lowered the price of the power steering pump replacement to $400. Despite this reduction, the customer ultimately chose to have the service done at another mechanic in Cottage Grove for $280. This part of the review suggests a potential disparity in pricing between Payless Autobody & Repair and other local mechanics, while also acknowledging a positive interaction with one member of the Payless team.

The customer's experience continued when they returned to Payless Autobody & Repair for an inspection regarding a power steering fluid leak, even though a new pump had been installed elsewhere less than 24 hours prior. According to the review, the father (owner) at Payless claimed a need for multiple hose replacements and another new pump, quoting a total cost of $1300 due to the leak. The customer expressed feeling that they were being overcharged, possibly due to their gender. This part of the review raises concerns about the consistency and transparency of diagnoses and pricing at the shop, particularly when compared to the recent work performed elsewhere.

Despite these concerns, the customer specifically recommended speaking with Khalid, the son, describing him as "honest and caring." They also praised the mechanic who performed the brake work, noting that the brakes were functioning excellently. Furthermore, Khalid reportedly provided a ride back to work for the customer while their car was being serviced. This indicates that while there may be inconsistencies in the overall experience, some staff members are committed to providing positive customer service and quality workmanship on specific repairs like the brakes.

Based on this limited information, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the environment at Payless Autobody & Repair. However, the contrasting experiences suggest a potential difference in approach or pricing between different individuals within the shop. Customers may find it beneficial to communicate clearly about diagnoses and pricing before committing to repairs.

The services offered at Payless Autobody & Repair appear to include general auto repair and maintenance, with specific mentions of radiator replacement, brake and rotor replacement, and power steering pump service. The shop also seems to offer diagnostic services, as indicated by the inspections performed. Given the name, they likely handle autobody work as well, although this was not a primary focus in the provided reviews.

In terms of features, the differing customer experiences highlight the importance of clear communication and potentially seeking multiple opinions or quotes for services, especially for more significant repairs. The positive feedback regarding Khalid's customer service suggests that some members of the team are dedicated to ensuring a positive experience. However, the concerns raised about pricing discrepancies and the handling of the radiator issue warrant consideration.

No specific promotional information was included in the provided reviews. It would be advisable for potential customers to inquire directly about any current specials or discounts when contacting Payless Autobody & Repair for service. Comparing quotes from multiple repair shops in the Minneapolis area is always a prudent step to ensure competitive pricing.

In conclusion, Payless Autobody & Repair in Minneapolis offers a range of auto repair services. However, the available customer reviews present a mixed picture. While some customers have experienced positive interactions and satisfactory repairs, particularly with specific staff members, others have raised concerns about the quality of certain repairs, pricing transparency, and overall customer service. Potential customers may want to weigh these factors and consider obtaining multiple quotes before entrusting their vehicle to this shop. Engaging in clear communication regarding diagnoses, repair procedures, and pricing is strongly recommended to ensure a satisfactory experience.

Thursday April 11th I needed breaks and a new power steering pump. My job is pretty close to this shop so i dropped it off for inspection. they said i needed breaks and rotors as well as a new pump. they charged me 750$ for the breaks and rotors. Mind you i drive a Cadillac so that's not extremely outrageous. The dad then tried charging me 500$ for the pump which i refused to do because i knew i could get it done cheaper else where. His son Khalid was Amazing and his customer service is above and beyond. He lowered the price to 400 which i still wasn't willing to pay after already spending 750$ so i went to a mechanic in cottage grove about 36 mins out and only ended up paying 280$ granted that wasn't the only issue... Unknowingly i also potentially need a hose. because payless is much closer to my job i took it there for inspection once again. the father claimed i needed a bunch of different hoses and a new pump which hadn't even been in my car for a whole 24 hrs. (its brand new from O'Reilly's). He then proceeded to say total cost would be 1300$ all because the power steering fluid was leaking. I literally only came because of a leak. At that point I felt that because i was a woman he was trying to get over on me. So even though i believe the father has the final say so in pricing I'd recommend initially speaking to Khalid which is the son. He's honest and caring. You cant have everyone be the best but he for sure is. He also dropped me back to work while they fixed my car. I'm grateful. My experience wasn't bad and I'm super happy with my breaks they work great. Also the mechanic who fixed them was also amazing sadly I didn't get his name.

Bait and switch. Was told they had a used tire for me but when i got there they told me they only had new ones, after waiting an hour. A customer got into the fight with an employee, probably also got ripped off.
