Parts Authority Introduce

Parts Authority, situated at 118 Saw Mill River Rd, Yonkers, NY 10701, USA, is a prominent entity within the automotive aftermarket, primarily operating as a large-scale distributor and supplier of auto parts. While the provided platform category is "Auto Repair Stations," Parts Authority's core business model aligns more closely with an "auto parts store" or, more accurately, a wholesale parts supplier that services auto repair stations and professional mechanics. Its role is to provide the necessary components and goods for vehicle maintenance and repair, thereby supporting the operations of auto repair stations and potentially serving individual customers as well.

The environment at a Parts Authority location, including the one in Yonkers, is typically designed for efficient warehousing and distribution of a vast inventory of automotive parts. Unlike a traditional retail auto parts store that primarily caters to walk-in individual customers, a Parts Authority branch often functions more like a distribution hub. This means the environment is focused on logistics: large storage areas, shelving systems for various parts, and a streamlined process for order fulfillment and delivery. There would likely be a counter area for professional mechanics and potentially individual customers to place orders or pick up parts. The overall atmosphere is geared towards speed and accuracy in getting the right parts to the right place quickly. While not typically designed for a leisurely shopping experience, the environment prioritizes functionality and the extensive availability of parts. The emphasis is on facilitating the quick turnaround of vehicle repairs by ensuring parts are readily accessible. Historically, this location was known as Miele's Auto Parts, and observations suggest that some of the original staff have remained, indicating a transition in ownership rather than a complete overhaul of the physical premises.

As an "auto parts store" that operates within the broader context of "Auto Repair Stations" by supplying them, Parts Authority offers an extensive range of goods for sale and related services. Their primary offering is a comprehensive inventory of automotive replacement parts for a vast array of vehicle makes and models, including both domestic and import vehicles. This would typically include, but is not limited to:

  • Brake Components: Pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, master cylinders.
  • Engine Parts: Spark plugs, filters (oil, air, fuel, cabin), belts, hoses, sensors, engine management components.
  • Suspension & Steering Parts: Shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, tie rods, power steering components.
  • Electrical Parts: Batteries, alternators, starters, wiring harnesses, lighting components.
  • Drivetrain Parts: CV axles, universal joints, transmission filters, clutch kits.
  • Heating & Cooling System Parts: Radiators, water pumps, thermostats, A/C compressors.
  • Exhaust Components: Mufflers, catalytic converters, exhaust pipes.
  • Fluids & Chemicals: Engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, additives.
  • Tools & Equipment: While primarily a parts distributor, they may also carry some essential tools or shop supplies.

In terms of services, Parts Authority primarily provides efficient parts delivery to their professional mechanic and garage customers. Their business model is built around ensuring that repair shops have quick access to the parts they need to complete repairs, minimizing vehicle downtime. This often involves a robust logistics network for expedited delivery, sometimes multiple times a day, to their wholesale accounts.

The features of Parts Authority that stand out relate to its operational scale and role in the automotive supply chain. A key feature is its vast inventory, offering a comprehensive selection of parts for a wide range of vehicles, which is crucial for repair shops needing specific components quickly. This extensive stock aims to minimize the need for mechanics to source parts from multiple vendors. Another feature is its distribution network, enabling timely delivery of parts to professional customers, which is a significant convenience for busy repair shops. The wholesale pricing model is also a core feature, as they primarily cater to businesses, offering prices that are typically lower than retail prices for individual consumers, especially for bulk purchases. The long-standing presence at the Yonkers location, previously as Miele's Auto Parts, indicates a historical connection to the local automotive community, suggesting a knowledge of regional needs. However, customer reviews highlight a perceived decline in certain features since the transition from Miele's, specifically regarding customer service and pricing competitiveness. Reviewers suggest that aspects like "customer service" have worsened, prices have become "high," even at "wholesale" rates, and part availability/delivery speed has become less reliable compared to alternative sources like Amazon Prime. The implication is that what were once strong features of the previous establishment, such as caring about customers and efficient stock management, have diminished under the new ownership.

Regarding promotional information, specific current campaigns or advertised deals for Parts Authority are not explicitly provided in the given information. However, typical promotional strategies for a large auto parts distributor like Parts Authority would focus on:

  • Breadth and Depth of Inventory: Emphasizing their ability to supply almost any part needed for any vehicle, thus positioning themselves as a one-stop source for mechanics.
  • Speed and Reliability of Delivery: Promoting their efficient logistics network to ensure timely part availability for repair shops, which directly translates to faster vehicle turnover for their clients.
  • Competitive Pricing for Wholesale Accounts: Highlighting their pricing structure and potential volume discounts for professional buyers.
  • Support for Professional Mechanics: Showcasing programs or services tailored to the needs of auto repair stations, such as technical support or simplified ordering systems.

It is important to consider the customer reviews, which present a counter-narrative to these potential promotional messages. The reviews indicate that, at least from the perspective of some mechanics and end-users, aspects like "customer service," "high prices" (even for wholesale), and "you have to wait for the part" contradict the ideal promotional messages of speed, competitive pricing, and care. One review explicitly states, "Don't believe the hype about 'stock shortages everywhere' because anywhere else I have used I have had no issues," suggesting a discrepancy between perceived performance and potential claims. This highlights that while a company may aim to promote certain features, actual customer experiences can significantly impact their effective public image and promotional success.

In conclusion, Parts Authority at 118 Saw Mill River Rd, Yonkers, NY, operating with phone numbers (914) 968-1700 and +1 914-968-1700, primarily functions as a wholesale auto parts supplier within the broader automotive ecosystem, supporting "Auto Repair Stations" by providing necessary components. Its environment is that of a distribution center focused on inventory management and logistics. The core service is the provision of a vast range of automotive parts, complemented by delivery services to professional clients. While its features include extensive inventory and a distribution network, significant customer feedback indicates concerns regarding a perceived decline in customer service, higher pricing (even at wholesale), and issues with part availability/delivery speed since its transition from Miele's Auto Parts. Therefore, while Parts Authority aims to be a comprehensive and efficient parts supplier, its promotional efforts would need to address and potentially overcome these documented customer experiences to fully align with its intended role in the market.

Parts Authority Customer Reviews

Most of the time my mechanics have had to use them, it's been a nightmare. At this rate I ask my mechanics to get my parts from somewhere else or I bring my own. I grew up with it being Miele's and once it changed over it's gotten worse and worse. Gone are the days of a business caring about their customers and end users. Don't believe the hype about "stock shortages everywhere" because anywhere else I have used I have had no issues. Need a part and they need to get in from another location, use Amazon prime, it will be cheaper and chances are it will get there before the parts authority delivery person. The staff doesn't even care anymore which is proof that parts authority has ruined the location as most the staff hasn't changed since the transition.

Miele Auto parts were the best. Amazing how Parts Authority purchased the business and screwed it up. No customer service high prices and you have to wait fir the part. Advance Autoparts is a little better. I am buying Mercedes ML series rear calipers for $65 dollars at the mercedes dealer. Parts authority wanted $99 dollars and that wholesale.Dont waste your time.

Formerly Miele Auto Parts. For the most part everything is the same. The staff added a few new faces. I have been using this place for about 20 years for parts for my own car and their prices for my needs have been lower than Bridge or Auto Zone and the counter staff is more knowledgeable than the others as well. On the race occasions when they did not have the part I needed, they were able to get it for me within 2 hours. The only down side is the parking lot is small and at times there can be a wait due to the customer volume at the counter.

Went to buy brakes for my car and gave me wrong brake pads and rotors. After car was on lift needed to take taxi back and manager was very arrogant, didn’t apologize or want to credit me in any way. New owners and managers not running business well. Wont go back. Shop elsewhere

They are getting two stars only because they are the only local place to me. I think their service quite frankly blows. I walked in there today- mind you I was the only person there. There is a gentleman behind one counter who scans the item and tells you to pay at another counter. There was noone at that counter. I stood there for about 10 minutes and was told "he will be right out" yet this person never came out. I asked him if he could do it as I waited an unnecessary amount of time as it was. This guy told me he couldnt ring me up and had to wait, so I left. Honestly that was the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen.
