Nunley's Automotive & Transmission Introduce
For individuals in Normandy, Tennessee, seeking automotive repair services, Nunley's Automotive & Transmission, located at 4065 Metro 41A Hwy, Normandy, TN 37360, USA, presents itself as an option within the "Auto Repair Stations" category. This business ostensibly offers services related to general automotive maintenance and specialized transmission repair. However, an objective introduction based on publicly available customer reviews reveals a concerning pattern of experiences that potential customers should be aware of before considering their services.
The environment of an auto repair shop is crucial for customer confidence and efficient service. While no specific details about the physical appearance or waiting area of Nunley's Automotive & Transmission are available from public sources, customer feedback paints a picture of an operational environment that may be lacking in consistent presence and accountability. Reviewers frequently mention that the owner, Chris, is "ALWAYS gone" and that staff are "rarely there." This suggests a lack of consistent oversight and availability, which can significantly impact the customer experience and the timely completion of repairs. The phone numbers, (931) 455-1953 and mobile phone +1 931-455-1953, are provided for contact, but the effectiveness of these lines for communication seems to be a point of contention based on customer complaints.
The services offered by Nunley's Automotive & Transmission, as indicated by its name, primarily include general automotive repairs and specialized transmission work, including rebuilds. Transmission services are typically complex and require specialized knowledge and equipment, making them a significant investment for vehicle owners. General automotive repairs would encompass a broad spectrum of issues from diagnostics to part replacements. Given the nature of these services, customers would expect a high degree of technical competence, transparent communication, and efficient turnaround times. However, the provided customer reviews directly challenge the delivery of these expected service standards.
The features of Nunley's Automotive & Transmission, as perceived by customers, are unfortunately characterized by negative experiences rather than positive attributes. Key concerns highlighted in customer reviews include:
Extended Repair Times and Delays: Multiple reviews detail exceptionally long and unpredictable repair durations. One customer explicitly states, "It took almost 3 hours... and my car was the 2nd to last for them to finish on," and later, concerning a transmission rebuild, "The truck had to go back twice that I can remember so far and he changed the appointment to pick it up four times. The day we took it home we had to turn around and take it right back, and then it was supposed to be done in an hour, and it didn’t get done for two days." This indicates severe issues with time management and meeting promised deadlines, leading to significant inconvenience and even potential job loss for a customer.
Poor Communication and Lack of Transparency: While Chris is described as acting "very understanding and ready to help, until he has a deposit and your vehicle," communication reportedly deteriorates afterward. This lack of consistent updates and accountability contributes to frustration and distrust.
Unsatisfactory Repair Quality: The most critical feature, the quality of repair work, is heavily criticized. After a transmission rebuild, a customer reported "nothing but one PROBLEM after another" and that the "Truck is still messed up to this day." This suggests that the repairs performed may not be effective or long-lasting, leading to recurring issues and further costs for the customer.
Questionable Business Practices: The practice of requiring "deposits when they have your vehicle" is explicitly questioned by a reviewer as unusual for a "True business," leading to suspicion. Even more severely, one review alleges outright theft, stating, "My Da brought a 1963 corvette motor here and after my dad passed away he couldn't come up with the motor he gave me $500 unfortunately I couldn't find my dads receipt where he had pre paid for the work he stole the motor and took the money i would never go here." This is a grave accusation that demands serious consideration from potential customers.
Warranty Concerns: While a "3 year, unlimited mileage, warranty" is mentioned, the customer expresses extreme doubt about its enforceability, stating, "Sure, if they’ll ever fix it and give it back, but you’ll be lucky to ever get it back!" This suggests that even promised guarantees may not be honored, adding another layer of risk for clients.
Based on these consistent negative themes in customer feedback, the features of this establishment appear to be highly problematic, significantly impacting trust and satisfaction.
Regarding promotional information, there is no publicly available information detailing specific promotions or discounts offered by Nunley's Automotive & Transmission. Given the severe nature of the negative reviews, any conventional promotional efforts would likely be overshadowed by the reported customer experiences. In this context, word-of-mouth, which is a powerful form of promotion (positive or negative), appears to be heavily skewed towards discouraging patronage. For a business with such public feedback, the primary focus would need to be on rectifying past issues, improving service delivery, and rebuilding trust within the community before any promotional messaging could be effective. The provided information does not include details on their operating hours, which could be useful for potential customers planning visits, but given the reported absenteeism, even this basic information might be subject to change or unreliability.
In conclusion, Nunley's Automotive & Transmission in Normandy, TN, identified as an "Auto Repair Station," presents a concerning profile based on available customer reviews. The extensive negative feedback concerning prolonged repair times, alleged poor communication, questionable repair quality, and very serious accusations regarding business practices, including theft, paints a picture of an establishment where customers may face significant challenges and risks. Potential customers are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and consider these reported experiences before entrusting their vehicle to Nunley's Automotive & Transmission.

Truly thought I would have a better experience here than the previous posters, but that was not to be. Worst car repair experience of my life so far! Chris acts very understanding and ready to help, until he has a deposit and your vehicle. Then you are lucky if it ever gets fixed. There is one mechanic and then the owner, Chris. Owner is ALWAYS gone! One excuse after another! They are rarely there. We have had nothing but one PROBLEM after another also since transmission rebuild there. This is my son’s work truck! No truck, no work! The truck had to go back twice that I can remember so far and he changed the appointment to pick it up four times. The day we took it home we had to turn around and take it right back, and then it was supposed to be done in an hour, and it didn’t get done for two days. My son almost lost his job for not having his vehicle. Also, what kind of big business needs deposits when they have your vehicle??? I’ve never been asked for a deposit from any other shop. Personal home mechanics, yes. True business, no. Truck is still messed up to this day and I will NEVER go back there! Supposed to have a 3 year, unlimited mileage, warranty. Sure, if they’ll ever fix it and give it back, but you’ll be lucky to ever get it back!

I would rather let a high school automotive student work on my vehicles instead of this crook. He advertises transmission work but he had my basic S10 , 4 cylinder pickup truck and he worked on rebuilding my transmission at least 2 different times and both times he said it was fixed and both times i had to call a tow truck to come get me off the side of the interstate. I asked a friend of mine to look at it thats a mechanic and he said there were different size bolts and wires that were places they should not of been. The flywheel bolts were not properly bolted and they ended up backing out of the holes. Worst mechanic in Tullahoma for sure, probably middle Tennessee. ☠️

This company rebuilt the transmission in our vehicle. We were told it would be ready one week after it went there. It was ready as promised and is now running perfectly. Professional and friendly. Definitely 5 stars. Great service. Thank you.

I had a nail in my tire. Walmart in shelbyville said they couldnt plug it but it could be fixed. So i countined to Tullahoma trying to think of a small shop that would be opened to fix it. As i entered town i noticed a shop that looked opened. I went and looked at the sign and they had closed, but the lights were still on. As i was turning to leave a guy pulled up, i told him i had a nail and begged him to fix it. Him and his brother plugged my tire and aired it up all free of charge! I was so thankful because i had to drive again tomorrow and i didnt want to have to drive with a slow leak again. Great people and service do exist!!!!
