Needham & Smith Automotive Introduce
Needham & Smith Automotive, located at 670 Consaulus Ave, Schenectady, NY 12306, USA, operates as an establishment within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, aiming to provide various automotive repair and maintenance services to the local community. This introduction provides an objective overview of the business based on the available information, including direct customer feedback, which presents a mixed picture of its operational quality and customer satisfaction.
The environment at Needham & Smith Automotive, as inferred from customer reviews, suggests a potentially varied experience. Some customers report a positive and efficient environment, characterized by quick service and a straightforward approach to getting vehicles in and out for repairs. This implies a functional workshop designed for relatively swift turnaround times on common maintenance and repair tasks. However, contrasting reviews highlight significant concerns regarding professionalism and customer interaction, particularly in resolving post-service issues. These suggest that the communication environment, especially from the owner, Denise, may not always be conducive to customer satisfaction when problems arise. The overall impression of the environment is therefore bifurcated: some customers experience a seamless and cost-effective service, while others encounter difficulties in communication and resolution, indicating a potential inconsistency in service delivery or customer management.
Needham & Smith Automotive offers a range of services typical of an "Auto Repair Stations" facility. Customers have explicitly mentioned general vehicle maintenance and repairs, indicating their capability to address common automotive issues. A specific service highlighted in a review is transmission rebuilding, suggesting they undertake more complex and specialized mechanical work. Other services implicitly offered by a general repair shop would include oil changes, brake inspections and replacements, tire services, diagnostics for various vehicle problems, and possibly suspension or exhaust system work. The allowance for customers to "get my own parts and bring to him (cost effective)" is a notable offering, indicating flexibility and a customer-friendly approach to sourcing components, which can be a significant cost-saving measure for vehicle owners. However, the efficacy and quality of these services, particularly complex ones like transmission rebuilding, are subjects of conflicting customer experiences, as detailed in the reviews. The ability to handle diverse repair needs is central to their function as an automotive repair station.
Several features distinguish Needham & Smith Automotive, as reflected in the provided customer feedback. One positive feature highlighted by some customers is the **quick turnaround time** for vehicles, making it convenient for those needing prompt service. The mention of "Great prices too....doesn't break the bank" suggests that their pricing is competitive and affordable, which is a significant draw for cost-conscious vehicle owners. Another unique and appealing feature is their policy of **allowing customers to bring their own parts**, which offers a direct cost-saving benefit and flexibility in part selection. These features contribute to a positive experience for a segment of their clientele. However, critically, contrasting reviews reveal severe concerns about other features. A prominent negative feature is the reported **poor quality of work**, particularly for complex repairs like transmission rebuilding, leading to recurring issues. Allegations of the owner, Denise, admitting to "cut a lot of corner" and a lack of willingness to rectify problems are serious concerns regarding the integrity and professionalism of the business. Additionally, reports of **bad customer service**, being "very hard to get in touch with," and a general lack of accountability for unresolved issues are significant deterrents. The claim of "overcharge for services" in one negative review also directly contradicts the positive feedback on affordability, suggesting potential inconsistencies in pricing practices or perceived value for money, especially when work is not done correctly.
In terms of promotional information, like many independent "Auto Repair Stations," Needham & Smith Automotive likely relies on word-of-mouth and customer satisfaction to attract and retain business. The positive reviews highlight "great prices" and quick service as inherent promotions that appeal to certain customers. The ability for customers to bring their own parts is also a form of value-add promotion, as it can significantly reduce repair costs. However, given the severe negative feedback, any traditional promotional efforts would likely be overshadowed by reputational challenges. There is no public information about specific, ongoing discounts, coupons, or loyalty programs. Potential customers are advised to contact Needham & Smith Automotive directly at (518) 355-3300 or +1 518-355-3300 to inquire about their services, obtain quotes, and discuss their specific vehicle needs. Due to the highly conflicting nature of the reviews, it is imperative for local users to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence, including perhaps seeking multiple opinions or detailed written estimates, before committing to significant repairs at this establishment. The advice to "STAY AWARE FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!" from a customer provides a stark warning that prospective clients should heed.
In conclusion, Needham & Smith Automotive in Schenectady, NY, presents itself as an "Auto Repair Stations" providing general maintenance and specialized repairs, including transmission work. While some customers praise their quick service and affordability, particularly when allowing customers to bring their own parts, severe criticisms regarding the quality of workmanship, customer service, and willingness to resolve issues have also been raised. For local users, this objective overview suggests a business with a mixed track record, necessitating careful consideration and direct, detailed communication before engaging their services.

This company is the worst. I went to them to rebuild a transmission for me. Denise the owner did not do not do a good job because I still had problems with it within 60 days of him working on my tranny. I have continued to have issues and Denise is not willing to help. He took my money and he did not do the work that I paid him for. He told me out his own mouth that he cut a lot of corner after a whole year of going back and forth to him to correct something I paid to have right the first time.So now I am out of my money, my time, my transmission is not working and I cant drive my vehicle. Denise has such bad customer service. I would not tell anyone to go to this company to get work done. They are very hard to get in touch with and they do not do good work. They also over charge for services. I would not even give them any stars. STAY AWARE FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!
