Midwest Auto Care - Midwest Motors, situated at 3060 SE Grimes Blvd #900, Grimes, IA 50111, functions as a dual establishment, offering both pre-owned vehicle sales and comprehensive automotive repair services. Operating with contact numbers (515) 986-3638 and +1 515-986-3638, this business positions itself as a local solution for individuals seeking to purchase used cars or obtain vehicle maintenance and repair services in Grimes, Iowa.

The environment at Midwest Auto Care - Midwest Motors, as a combined car dealer and auto repair station, presents a utilitarian setting. The exterior would typically feature a display lot for the used vehicles for sale, along with an entrance leading to both sales and service areas. As an auto repair station, it is equipped with bays for mechanical work. Customer experiences regarding the environment, particularly the sales aspect, have varied. Some reviews suggest a positive and friendly interaction with staff, indicating a welcoming atmosphere in certain instances. For the auto care side, the facility houses necessary tools and equipment for vehicle diagnostics and repairs. While a comfortable waiting area might be present, the primary focus of the facility is on the practical aspects of vehicle sales and service. Given the nature of a used car dealership, customers should anticipate a functional and transactional environment, where the emphasis is on showcasing vehicles and facilitating sales and repair processes.

Midwest Auto Care - Midwest Motors, aligning with the "Auto Repair Stations" category, provides a broad spectrum of services for vehicles, alongside their primary function as a used car dealer. Their service department is stated to be equipped with state-of-the-art tools and staffed by ASE Certified Technicians, capable of handling both import and domestic vehicles. In addition to services, as a car dealer, Midwest Motors sells pre-owned vehicles. While the specific inventory constantly changes, they offer a range of used cars and trucks. For their service department, they would utilize and potentially sell various auto parts necessary for the repairs they perform, though there isn't explicit mention of a dedicated auto parts counter for walk-in sales to the public, separate from their repair services.

The features of Midwest Auto Care - Midwest Motors, as gleaned from available information and customer feedback, present a mixed picture. While the business aims to provide comprehensive services, the experiences of customers vary. Noteworthy features include:

  • ASE Certified Technicians: The service department employs ASE Certified Technicians, indicating a commitment to a recognized standard of automotive expertise. This suggests that the staff has undergone professional training and certification.
  • State-of-the-Art Equipment: They claim to utilize "state of the art professional software, equipment and tools" for diagnostics and repairs, suggesting an investment in modern automotive technology.
  • Warranty on Work: Midwest Motors offers a warranty on their mechanical service, maintenance, and repairs for up to 24 months or 24,000 miles. This provides a level of peace of mind for customers regarding the quality and durability of the work performed.
  • CARFAX Service Network Membership: As registered members of the CARFAX Service Network, any service or repair performed at their shop automatically updates records with CARFAX. This can be beneficial for customers for tracking maintenance history and potentially adding value to the vehicle upon resale.
  • Used Car Sales: Their primary function as a used car dealership means they have a rotating inventory of pre-owned vehicles, catering to customers looking for a pre-owned purchase.
  • Online Appointment Scheduling: Customers can request service appointments online, offering convenience.
  • Customer Interaction: Some customers have praised specific individuals for being "very friendly and helpful," and for offering "no pressure service" during the car buying process. However, other reviews contradict this, highlighting significant issues with communication and integrity.

It is important to note the significant discrepancies in customer reviews. While some customers have reported positive experiences with their used car purchases or service, many others have raised serious concerns. Issues cited include vehicles being delivered in poor condition, immediate mechanical failures after purchase, discrepancies in mechanical assessments, alleged dishonesty regarding vehicle condition, and poor communication or unwillingness to resolve post-sale issues. The Better Business Bureau profile indicates that Midwest Motors is NOT a BBB Accredited Business, and some reviews suggest a history of unresolved complaints, particularly concerning vehicle condition and repair integrity. This divergence in experiences suggests that while the business offers a range of services, customers should proceed with a high degree of caution and perform independent verification of vehicle condition and repair recommendations.

Information regarding specific, widely advertised promotional activities for Midwest Auto Care - Midwest Motors is not readily available in detailed form from the provided information. However, typical promotions seen at combined used car dealerships and auto repair stations might include:

  • Competitive Pricing on Used Vehicles: As a used car dealer, their promotions would primarily revolve around competitive pricing on their inventory, potentially highlighting specific vehicle types or brands.
  • Financing Options: Used car dealerships often promote various financing solutions to help customers purchase vehicles, including options for different credit scores.
  • Service Specials: Auto repair shops frequently offer discounts on routine maintenance services such as oil changes, brake inspections, or tire rotations to attract service customers. Given their comprehensive service list, it's plausible they would have specials on these common services.
  • Package Deals: Sometimes, combinations of services are offered at a discounted rate, such as a diagnostic check bundled with a specific repair.
  • Warranty Inclusion: The mentioned 24-month/24,000-mile warranty on repairs serves as a significant promotional feature, emphasizing reliability of their service work.

Due to the conflicting nature of customer reviews, it is highly recommended that local users in Grimes, IA, who are considering purchasing a vehicle or seeking services from Midwest Auto Care - Midwest Motors, exercise extreme diligence. This includes thoroughly inspecting any vehicle of interest, ideally with an independent third-party mechanic, and obtaining multiple quotes for repair services to ensure competitive pricing and accurate assessments. Directly contacting the business at (515) 986-3638 to inquire about current promotions and service details would be the best course of action, allowing customers to assess communication and professionalism firsthand before committing to any purchase or repair.

Midwest Auto Care - Midwest Motors Customer Reviews

WARNING!! I purchased an Audi from Matt who led me to believe that this car had a lot of service done and was mechanically in excellent condition. After a couple weeks of negotiation we landed on $18,500 plus $800 in shipping to get the car to me. Upon arrival of the vehicle, I immediately called him with concerns that they had delivered the wrong vehicle. Upon inspection exterior body panels were not aligned, interior body panels were hanging or attached with Velcro. There was leftover food and children’s toys in the car. I called him and he immediately said it must’ve been a delivery guy because he has never delivered a car in that condition. After approximately 50 to 80 miles, I noticed two check engine lights and the vehicle went into “limp mode“ I immediately called Matt again to which he stated he was unfamiliar with that and sent me a list of the work that he had done. I then took it to a mechanic who found more than $13,000 worth of critical repairs that needed to be done to make this vehicle roadworthy. I called Matt again who offered to buy the car back at $12,000 if I paid the shipping to get it back to him and then he would repair it and sell it to someone else I took the car for a second opinion at another mechanic shop who found additional critical problems, such as complete separation of motor mounts with the engine moving upon acceleration. I contacted Matt again and he offered $15,000 and I requested that we meet at $17,500 and he pay shipping because of all the money that I had incurred. Remind you, this is within a two week timeframe. I then sent a demand letter to him to which there was no response via text, email, or phone number. I encourage you to look at the pictures below

This auto shop is an absolute joke. Every time I took my cars in, they somehow managed to screw things up even more. Problems kept coming back within months, and whenever I went back to get it fixed, they’d either deny responsibility or come up with new issues to charge me for. One time, they blatantly lied about my car’s condition, claiming it needed thousands in repairs and suggesting I just scrap it. Turns out, the new owner fixed it with a few quick adjustments. This place is either incompetent or straight-up dishonest. Avoid at all costs.

I had a great experience working with Matt at Midwest Auto Care. The process was smooth, great communication and they repaired my vehicle in a very timely manner. I will definitely be going back in the future for any vehicle issues!

I had a very disappointing experience with this auto shop. Each time I brought in my cars for repairs, the issues seemed to reoccur within a few months. Whenever I returned, the problems were not resolved, and additional issues would arise. At one point, I was misled about the condition of my car and told it required thousands of dollars in repairs, and I was advised to consider letting it go. However, the new owner fixed it with just a few quick adjustments. I strongly caution others to be careful when choosing this shop for vehicle repairs.
