McKay RV & Trailer Repair Introduce

For individuals and businesses operating recreational vehicles (RVs) and various types of trailers, **McKay RV & Trailer Repair** stands as a highly specialized **Auto Repair Station** dedicated to meeting the unique and often complex service needs of these larger, more intricate vehicles. Unlike general automotive repair shops that focus solely on cars and light trucks, McKay RV & Trailer Repair offers a concentrated expertise in the mechanics, systems, and structures that define RVs and trailers, including potentially heavy-duty truck service, providing not just repairs but also essential parts and components for sale.

Environment Tailored for Large Vehicles

The **environment** at McKay RV & Trailer Repair is specifically designed to accommodate the substantial size and specialized equipment of recreational vehicles and trailers. You would expect to find large, high-clearance service bays, ample maneuvering space, and a layout that facilitates the efficient movement and positioning of motorhomes, fifth-wheel trailers, travel trailers, and even heavy-duty trucks. The workshop area is equipped with robust lifts and diagnostic tools capable of handling heavier chassis and more complex electrical, plumbing, and appliance systems inherent to RVs. Cleanliness and organization within the facility are crucial, ensuring that sensitive RV components are protected and that repairs are carried out meticulously. For customers, while the primary focus is on the repair bay, a comfortable waiting area would likely be provided. Furthermore, adequate outdoor space for parking and staging RVs before and after service is essential, reflecting their specialized clientele.

Comprehensive Services and Parts Sales

The **services offered by McKay RV & Trailer Repair** are extensive, covering the full spectrum of needs for RVs and trailers, and potentially extending to heavy-duty trucks given the "Truck & RV" aspect of their operation. This makes them a versatile solution for owners of these larger vehicles. Their core services typically include:

  • **RV Engine and Chassis Service:** This encompasses all aspects of maintaining and repairing the motorized components of an RV, including oil changes, fluid flushes, brake system repair and maintenance (pads, rotors, calipers, ABS diagnostics), suspension system repair (shocks, struts, airbags, leaf springs), tire services (rotation, balancing, replacement for heavier vehicles), and comprehensive engine diagnostics and repair for both gasoline and diesel engines.
  • **RV House Systems Repair:** Addressing the living and utility systems within an RV, such as:
    • **Appliance Repair:** Diagnosis and repair of RV refrigerators, furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters, and cooking appliances.
    • **Plumbing System Repair:** Maintenance and repair of freshwater, greywater, and blackwater tanks, pumps, water lines, faucets, and toilets.
    • **Electrical System Repair:** Troubleshooting and repair of both 12V DC and 120V AC electrical systems, including generators, inverters, converters, and battery systems.
    • **Roof and Exterior Repair:** Addressing leaks, resealing, roof membrane repair/replacement, awning repair, and exterior bodywork.
    • **Slide-Out Repair:** Diagnostics and repair for problematic RV slide-out mechanisms (mechanical and electrical).
    • **LP Gas System Service:** Inspection and repair of propane systems, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • **Trailer Repair:** Specializing in various types of trailers, including travel trailers, utility trailers, cargo trailers, and horse trailers. Services could include:
    • Axle and suspension repair.

  • **Parts Sales:** Crucially, as an "auto parts store" within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, McKay RV & Trailer Repair provides a comprehensive inventory of replacement parts specifically for RVs, trailers, and potentially heavy-duty trucks. This includes:
    • Engine components.
    • Brake parts.
    • Suspension components.
    • Electrical parts (batteries, wiring, fuses).
    • Plumbing components (pumps, fittings, tanks).
    • Appliance parts (elements, igniters, control boards).

The **features** that distinguish McKay RV & Trailer Repair in the market are primarily centered around their specialized focus and comprehensive capabilities:

  • **One-Stop Shop for RV & Trailer Needs:** By offering both comprehensive repair services and a wide selection of parts for sale, they provide unparalleled convenience for RV and trailer owners who prefer to get everything done in one location. • **Targeted Advertising:** Advertising in RV and camping magazines, online RV forums, local campgrounds, and outdoor recreational publications to reach their specific demographic.
  • **Online Presence:** A robust website detailing their full range of services, their parts inventory, hours of operation, location, and clear contact information. An online catalog or inquiry form for parts would be beneficial.
  • **Preventative Maintenance Specials:** Promoting seasonal offers for RV winterization/de-winterization, pre-trip inspections, or multi-point service packages to encourage proactive care.
  • **Transparent Pricing:** Offering clear estimates and transparent billing to build trust, especially given the potentially higher costs associated with RV repairs.
  • **Parts Sales Promotions:** Discounts on specific RV or trailer parts, or bundle deals for common maintenance items (e.g., fluid and filter kits, sealant bundles).
  • **Customer Testimonials:** Featuring positive reviews from satisfied RV and trailer owners on their website and promotional materials to build credibility.
  • **Emergency Service Contact:** Highlighting any provisions for emergency repairs or roadside assistance for RVs and trailers.
  • **Partnerships:** Collaborating with local RV dealerships, campgrounds, or trailer sales centers for referrals and integrated services.
  • **Warranty on Repairs and Parts:** Providing a clear warranty on both the labor and the parts they install or sell, offering peace of mind to customers.

In essence, McKay RV & Trailer Repair distinguishes itself as a highly specialized Auto Repair Station that offers comprehensive service and a dedicated parts supply for the unique and demanding needs of recreational vehicles and various trailers, serving as a critical resource for their owners in the local area.

McKay RV & Trailer Repair Customer Reviews

Don’t even bother with these guys. May have been good once upon a time, but new owner or management, it’s terrible now. Made an appointment months in advance, they cancelled it the day before. Rescheduled for a month later, I dropped it off, was told they would look, give me an estimate soon. 6 weeks later, still no estimate. I just picked it up. The house battery is ruined, wasn’t maintained at all. What a waste of time! Don’t go here.

Super great shop - took us in with an emergency. Let us spend the night on the property and took care of us the next day. Thank you for getting us back on the road to enjoy our winter.

Thank you to Will, Kathy, Les, and the whole crew...pats on the back and thumbs up for an outstanding job well done. This crew took my stress level down several notches and the process between insurance company and the repair went so smoothly for us. You people are great to work with anytime and this one time was the best by far. Your crew made us feel right at home and were so courteous with smiles and greetings. We made it back to Alaska and are enjoying the cooler weather. Thanks again for everything...I even called Rich, the General Manager, to inform him of the job well done.

John, the owner, was very helpful. He even suggested how I can self maintain my black tank valve extension. I had visited his shop to buy an RV water heater switch. He ordered it for me and it was there the next day. Thank you, John.

While driving our RV from Kansas City to the Oregon coast to begin our cross country tour it became apparent the brakes needed attention. After contacting several RV repair shops in the Portland area and being told it would be three to four weeks before any service could be preformed. We searched for a solution in surrounding areas. After contacting McKay’s Truck and RV Center things feel into place. The next day they made time to inspect our RV. After a professional inspection, Will informed use of the repairs needed. After a detailed explanation of parts required, their cost, and labor cost We authorized the work to be done. Parts were ordered and Will agreed to make room on the schedule to begin the repairs the following week. Staying on schedule we rented an SUV a started our journey to the east. After spending a week exploring central Oregon, we headed back to McKay’s. Upon arriving as Will stated the repairs were completed. To make it happen on time Will himself helped the mechanic in order to insure the completion of the repairs by our return. I can not express how professional Will was in handling our situation. The new brakes preformed flawlessly and our 10,500 mile 8 week RV journey crossing nine states on the way to the Atlantic was safe and enjoyable. You can’t go wrong in relying on McKay Truck and RV Center for your mechanical needs.
