Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop Introduce

For local users in Waterville, ME, seeking services related to collision repair and auto body work, Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop is an establishment within the "Auto Repair Stations" category. Located at 232 A College Ave, Waterville, ME 04901, USA, they specialize in restoring vehicles after accidents or damage. They can be contacted by phone at (207) 453-6533 or via mobile at +1 207-453-6533.

The environment at Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop, as inferred from the highly contrasting customer reviews, presents a complex picture. On one hand, a positive review suggests a professional setting where vehicles are worked on promptly and detailed to perfection. This implies a facility equipped for high-quality body work, including paint booths, specialized tools for dent removal, and areas for thorough vehicle detailing. The existence of an owner's "furbaby, Fender" might hint at a more personable, family-like atmosphere, though this is a subjective interpretation. On the other hand, the negative review strongly indicates an environment where quality control and customer service can be problematic. Repeated attempts to fix the same issue and arguments over dissatisfaction suggest a strained or uncooperative environment for some clients. This dichotomy means that while the shop may have the technical capabilities and equipment for comprehensive body repairs, the customer experience within that environment can vary significantly.

Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop primarily offers auto body repair services, focusing on restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition or addressing cosmetic damage. Their services would include:

  • Dent and Ding Repair: Ranging from minor paintless dent removal (PDR) to more significant repairs involving panel reshaping or replacement. The reviews specifically mention dent repair, indicating this is a core service.
  • Collision Repair: Comprehensive structural and cosmetic repairs following vehicle accidents, including frame straightening, panel replacement, and alignment.
  • Paint Services: Matching and applying paint to damaged areas, ensuring a seamless finish. The positive review praises the "quality of work" and perfect drive, suggesting adeptness in this area. However, the negative review highlights "runs in the paint" as an issue.
  • Body Panel Replacement: Replacing damaged doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers, and other exterior components.
  • Vehicle Detailing: As mentioned in the positive review, they offer thorough detailing to present the car in perfect condition upon pickup.

These services are crucial for vehicle safety, aesthetics, and maintaining resale value after damage.

The features of Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop are notably polarizing, as revealed by the provided customer feedback. A highly positive feature, emphasized by one customer, is their promptness and efficiency, particularly when dealing with the complexities of backordered parts and uncertain timelines due to an accident. This review praises the "quality of work" on both exterior and interior, stating the car "drives like it did when I first got it" and "perfect" even after a 9-hour drive, suggesting strong mechanical and body repair capabilities. The thorough detailing is also noted as a positive feature. Furthermore, the shop's willingness to "understand" a customer's situation when stuck due to an accident, and provide regular updates, indicates effective communication and empathy.

Conversely, a significant negative feature, as detailed by another customer, is the inconsistent quality of repair work and challenging customer service. This review highlights repeated failures to correct a visible dent and paint issues, requiring multiple return visits, and a frustrating experience with the owner, Mike, regarding accountability and compensation (e.g., strong-arming for more money, arguments over a rental car). The transformation of a dent into a "bulge" suggests a lack of precision or expertise in certain repair techniques. This indicates a potential inconsistency in workmanship and a reluctance to fully rectify mistakes without considerable customer effort. Therefore, a dual nature of features exists: prompt, high-quality work for some, versus frustrating, substandard work and poor customer resolution for others.

From a promotional standpoint, Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop faces the challenge of managing a mixed online reputation. The positive review provides excellent promotional material, emphasizing their ability to handle complex repairs promptly, deliver high-quality results ("just look at that quality of work. So that’s just exterior but the quality of the car? Perfect."), and offer attentive customer communication, even including a "furbaby." This type of feedback, especially from someone "not from the area," speaks to their capability in critical situations and could attract customers seeking reliable post-accident repair. It implicitly promotes their expertise in both aesthetic and functional restoration.

However, the profoundly negative review serves as a significant counter-promotional element. It warns potential customers about "ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS," highlighting issues with repair quality, repeated attempts, and difficult interactions, explicitly advising, "Do not bring anything to that shop." This type of feedback can severely impact customer acquisition and trust. For Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop, effective promotion would involve consistently replicating the positive customer experience, addressing the issues highlighted in negative feedback, and potentially showcasing more visual evidence of their successful, high-quality repairs. Transparency and a clear commitment to customer satisfaction in all interactions would be key to fostering a more uniformly positive public image within the "Auto Repair Stations" category in Waterville, ME. Their ability to deliver "quality work with quality service," as championed by one review, needs to be the consistent standard across all customer interactions and repairs to truly leverage their promotional potential.

Maurice & Son Auto Body Shop Customer Reviews

I brought my car to Maurice and sons to be fixed. They charged more then twice that other repair shops like Conrad's quoted me. But I thought they would do a good job. The first time they told me my car was ready I arrive to find the dentin my door was still visible and runs in the paint. I spoke to them and they agreed to fix it. That marked the first day I had to go with our my car. The second time they said my car was ready the runs in the paint were gone but the dent was still there. I spoke to the owner Mike and he agreed to have there paint less dent remover guy fix it. 4 weeks later they called me to tell me the guy would work on it. I once again missed work and brought it back to them. The third time they called me and told me my car was ready I arrive to see the dent was now punched out so now there was a bulge in the door. I once again had to speek with the owner and tell him it was not excaptable and told him to fix it and and I wanted to a rental because I was not going with our my car again. After a lot of arguing he finally agreed to pay for rental car. I went to pick up my car for the fourth time and the dent was still there. After that he tried to strong arm me for more money to buy new door skin to fix the door. At that point I have essentially given up. Do not bring anything to that shop. This place does more quality work. And they are not willing to accept a mistakes that they make.

Not from the area, was stuck in the area due to the accident. They were completely understanding of my situation and kept me up to date by calling me and informing me of the timeline the car could get completed. Since everything is back ordered, everything was very up in the air. They worked on my car promptly and just look at that quality of work. So that’s just exterior but the quality of the car? Perfect. Drives like it did when I first got it. The day after I received the car, I drove it 9 hours straight. Stopping for gas but 9 hours straight, no probs. It’s been a couple weeks since and I’ve been driving the car out and about and still. Perfect. They detailed my car to perfection as well. Ignore the previous bad reviews. If this doesn’t prove they do quality work with quality service, idk what. Also. Meet the owner’s furbaby, Fender. 💕

They turned my Outback 2020 into a new one! Very happy with their thorough and top quality work . They were also good at explaining everything in details. Only minor downside was communication. I totally understand multiple delays can happen but wish they had let me know if the car isn't completed by the day that they have informed me. Overall, very happy customer here and will not hesitate to return when needed (hopefully not in near future)
