Legendary Diesel Performance Introduce
Legendary Diesel Performance, located at 675 E Hoffman St, Three Rivers, MI 49093, USA, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, specializing in services for diesel trucks. This establishment aims to provide comprehensive maintenance and repair solutions for light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty diesel vehicles, ranging from routine oil changes to complex engine and transmission rebuilds. As with any service provider, customer experiences can vary, and it is important for potential clients to consider a range of feedback when making a decision about their automotive needs.
As a specialized diesel performance shop, Legendary Diesel Performance likely maintains a dedicated facility equipped to handle the unique demands of diesel engines and heavy-duty truck components. This would typically include specialized lifts, diagnostic tools, and equipment necessary for working on larger vehicles and specific diesel systems. While specific details about the cleanliness or layout of their physical environment are not provided in the given review, the nature of diesel repair often necessitates a robust and well-organized workspace.
From an operational standpoint, the business aims to offer a variety of services, including diagnostics using "top of the line diagnostic tools" and "thorough certified technicians." They also highlight offering an "online parts selection" from "trusted dealers," suggesting a streamlined process for sourcing and installing necessary components. The stated goal is to provide "the most accurate diagnosis possible" and to keep diesel trucks "running at peak performance."
Legendary Diesel Performance focuses on a wide spectrum of services specifically tailored for diesel trucks. Their advertised capabilities encompass:
General Maintenance: This includes essential routine services such as oil and fuel filter changes, which are vital for the longevity and performance of diesel engines. One customer explicitly expressed satisfaction with a "last minute oil and fuel filter change," indicating responsiveness for basic services.
Thorough Diagnostics: Utilizing advanced diagnostic tools, the shop aims to provide accurate assessments of vehicle issues. This is a critical service for identifying complex problems that often arise in modern diesel systems.
Engine & Transmission Rebuilds: A significant part of their service offering includes major overhauls of critical powertrain components. This is a highly specialized area of repair for diesel vehicles, indicating a deep level of technical expertise.
Variety of Services: Their website indicates a broad array of services beyond just rebuilds, covering "anything you have in mind" from "basic maintenance to engine and transmission rebuilds." This suggests they aim to be a comprehensive solution for diesel truck owners.
Performance Upgrades: As a "performance" shop, they also cater to clients looking to enhance their truck's capabilities, from "daily driver trucks" to "ultimate race or sled pull engine" builds. This includes sourcing and installing aftermarket parts from their "online shop."
Legendary Diesel Performance positions itself as a knowledgeable and experienced provider for diesel truck owners. The company's online presence emphasizes having "experienced technicians" who are "well versed in deep dives into your vehicle as well as surface level repairs." They also highlight "convenient scheduling" and a commitment to keeping trucks "running at peak performance."
However, an objective introduction requires acknowledging a significant customer review that presents a contrasting experience. This review details a specific instance involving an NV4500 transmission rebuild that, according to the customer, was plagued by delays, cost overruns, and unresolved issues. Key points from this negative review include:
Timeline Discrepancy: A quoted "two weeks" for a transmission rebuild extended to "11 weeks later."
Cost Escalation: The initial quote of "$1272.82" nearly doubled to "$2500" for the rebuild.
Recurring Issues Post-Repair: The rebuilt transmission reportedly leaked "approximately 1 quart a day," necessitating a return visit. Even after this, the customer claimed the transmission still leaked "a quart + a month."
Warranty and Accountability Issues: The customer asserted that 5th gear failed shortly after the leak was fixed, and the shop would not warranty it, blaming "axle wrap" despite allegedly removing the customer's traction bars. The shop's statement of "hard parts aren’t covered on their transmission rebuild" was a point of contention.
Disputed Claims: The customer directly refuted the shop's claim of missing bell housing bolts, stating all eight were installed prior to the shop working on the truck, labeling the shop's claim as "a straight up lie."
Conversely, a positive review highlighted quick service for an oil and fuel filter change, stating happiness with the service and intent for future use. This suggests that experiences can vary and that perhaps simpler, routine maintenance tasks are handled more smoothly.
The existence of both highly positive and severely negative reviews indicates that while the business has the capacity to deliver satisfactory services, particularly for routine maintenance, there have been instances where customers have faced significant challenges related to larger, more complex repairs, including issues with communication, cost, timelines, and warranty policies. The mention of "nice people in person" by the dissatisfied customer suggests that interpersonal interactions might be cordial, but this doesn't always translate to satisfactory work outcomes.
Legendary Diesel Performance utilizes its contact information, phone: (269) 244-4364 and mobile phone: +1 269-244-4364, to provide direct access for customers. Their physical address at 675 E Hoffman St, Three Rivers, MI 49093, USA, establishes them as a local service provider for diesel truck owners in the Three Rivers area. Online, they promote their "experienced technicians," "thorough diagnostics," and "wide variety of services" from "basic maintenance to engine and transmission rebuilds." They also highlight their online parts selection and the ability to "spec and build the ultimate race or sled pull engine."
For potential customers, understanding the full spectrum of reviews is crucial. While the business aims to be a comprehensive diesel repair and performance shop, the detailed negative feedback serves as important cautionary information regarding expectations for complex jobs, particularly concerning project timelines, final costs, and warranty coverage. The positive feedback reinforces their capability for routine services. Ultimately, individuals seeking services from Legendary Diesel Performance should consider these varied experiences to make an informed decision for their specific diesel truck needs.

The first time I have ever left a negative review on a small business and I hate that I am writing this review but it will at least be 100% honest. (Read all the other negative reviews here as well) They rebuilt an nv4500 in my dodge quoted for two weeks and $1272.82. 11 weeks later and $2500 the trans was rebuilt. I installed myself and it ended up leaking approximately 1 quart a day. I had to fill it every morning I drove it. They fixed the leak. Pulled my traction bars to put it on a lift. The traction bars did not get reinstalled. That’s fine but now 5th gear goes out and they blame it on axle wrap. I explained that they removed the traction bars. But they still wouldn’t warranty it. They said “hard parts aren’t covered on their transmission rebuild” Nice people in person but I will not be doing business with them again. I wish that I didn’t pay them anything to fix 5th gear. Absolutely should have walked away and not paid them anything but i was super irritated and just threw in the towel. I gave them 3 tries to do good or even fair work. I won’t be dealing with Legendary Diesel Performance ever again. _______ In response to you claiming 4 bell housing bolts were missing - all 8 bell housing bolts were installed grade 8 prior to you touching the truck. Thats a straight up lie Your “rebuilt” transmission still leaks a quart + a month, better than a quart a day tho Glad I didn’t spend more $ here bc you guys do not take pride in your work.

So let me start by saying I have gone here in the past for simple modifications (exhaust, gauges, tuner) all went well, I have recommended this place on numerous occasions to anyone that needed diesel work done. My 7.3 had a slight tick develop brought it in to confirm injectors were bad they confirmed #3 and #8 I was happy it wasn't a rod and proceeded to order $6000 in parts new turbo, injectors, glow plugs, harnesses, HPOP, up-pipes, Valve Body for Transmission and cooler. They were busy and it took awhile (also took me 3mths to get all the parts) to get completed that happens I was fine with waiting (7mths total) for the work to be done RIGHT come to find out it wasn't. Got there to pick up bill was $500 more than I was quoted (I spent $5000 with them I wanted it all done right didn't argue) Had a lot of old parts and cores to pick up asked multiple times if I got it all back they said yes come to find out they put my Turbo Pedestal in the HPOP core box and forgot to give me my HPOP core (honest mistake? probably things get misplaced stuff happens), I brought new ICP/IPR with the rest of the parts they changed the IPR to attempt to fix a idle issue also replaced ICP never found the one I gave them to install and didn't give me the old part they said was leaking never called to say it was missing total of $550 in sensors that can and should be bought from Ford directly for half the price no reason to X4 markup on cheap on aftermarket parts to people who are already spending good money, same story with the door lock actuator I provided the part didn't get the old one and got charged for a new one. $33.71 FOR A $9 WIX FILTER $35.99 FOR A $.22 O-RING I put a couple hundred miles on it hearing a metal to metal knock come to find out the exhaust they put on is laying across the crossmember and hitting 2 bolts. Had them put in Oil catch can to prevent oil in intake/intercooler seems to be missing the return to intake why have a catch can if your going to vent to atmosphere. Dan called me to explain they had a Idle issue couldn't determine the cause thought my HPOP was to big and pumping to much pressure hadn't heard of a adrenaline HPOP before (Top of the line 7.3 Oil Pump should know exactly what it is), Tuning seems to be the issue on the idle doesn't appear to be their fault but haven't ruled it out they didn't know about the tuner that is in it(Hydra). Last but not least over 20 hose clamps within one sq. ft hooked up to a trailer going to Indiana transmission line blows off within 50miles lost 5qts of fluid on 131 looked underneath and was shocked. This is all within 200 Miles of pickup I'm sure there's more I will find after a few more miles almost ready to tear it all down and make sure the big stuff is done right, If you cant do the little things correctly like a Transmission cooler and a Exhaust system should you be tearing into heads, injectors and oil pumps? (Also asked for a row of a holes for push button switches got that mess it was worse before I drilled out holes with the correct size drill bit they sent a dull apprentice in with a STEP BIT to mount them no where near straight need a new panel)

We are traveling from Arizona and our Ram diesel truck started to up. I called Legendary and chatted a bit about my problem. Chad was professional and knowledgeable over the phone and I decided to make an appointment to bring our truck in (even though he was 40 miles away from where we were staying.). I wish we lived closer as I would bring all my business to him and his knowledgeable mechanic, Dave. Had a great experience.
