It is important to note that the online feedback for I-55 Truck and Trailer Repair is overwhelmingly negative, with customers reporting significant issues related to the quality of service, billing practices, communication, and the overall handling of repairs. These accounts should be carefully considered by any potential local users.
One customer described their experience as "Terrible!" after having a wheel bearing replaced. They alleged that a repair initially quoted as taking two hours and costing $500 ultimately took twelve hours and resulted in a charge of $2900 for two new bearings. This customer further claimed that parts were removed from their axle and that subsequent inspection at home revealed cross-threaded lugs and the removal of the entire hydraulic brake assembly. The reviewer strongly advised others to "Avoid at all costs!!!!"
Another, even more detailed, review recounted a lengthy and costly repair process for a truck that was derated. The customer stated that their truck was towed to I-55 Truck and Trailer Repair, and they were initially informed that the issue would require an EGR and filters to be cleaned, estimated at 6-8 hours of work plus parts. However, the repair ultimately took four weeks and cost over $12,000, including an ECM from a dealer. The truck was even towed to the dealer at one point, with the customer having to communicate directly with the dealer despite paying I-55 Truck and Trailer Repair.
This customer also reported significant financial losses due to the extended repair time, including layover costs, hotel expenses, and lost revenue. They expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the lack of communication from the shop during the first week, stating that they were often hung up on and felt they were calling too frequently. While communication reportedly improved somewhat after the owner became involved, the customer still had to persistently seek updates.
Upon finally receiving the truck, the customer had it inspected by another shop, which indicated that the EGR replacement might not have been necessary and that the original issue was likely a stuck turbo actuator. After replacing the actuator, the EGR code reportedly disappeared. Additionally, the new shop found the DPF filter to be full despite I-55 Truck and Trailer Repair having been paid to clean it less than ten hours of driving prior, suggesting a potential issue with the cleaning service.
The customer concluded that had they received an accurate estimate and timeframe, they would have opted to tow their truck a significant distance to their own yard for repairs, anticipating a lower cost and faster turnaround. Their request for some compensation for the initial financial losses was largely denied by the owner, who only waived a small ACH fee.
Based on this publicly available information, local users considering I-55 Truck and Trailer Repair should be aware of the serious concerns raised by previous customers. These reviews highlight potential issues with repair quality, inflated costs, extended timelines, and poor communication. While these are individual accounts, the severity and consistency of the negative feedback warrant careful consideration.
Given the nature of the reported experiences, there is no basis for discussing positive features, a conducive environment, or any promotional information for I-55 Truck and Trailer Repair. The focus must remain on presenting the objective information available, which primarily consists of significant customer dissatisfaction and allegations of unprofessional practices.
Local users are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence before entrusting their truck or trailer repairs to I-55 Truck and Trailer Repair. Seeking second opinions and obtaining detailed, transparent quotes and timelines from multiple repair facilities would be a prudent approach. The information presented here is based solely on the provided customer reviews and does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of this business. Instead, it serves as a factual summary of the publicly available feedback, which raises substantial concerns for potential customers.

Stay Far far away from this place! Had a wheel bearing replaced. Terrible! Told me it would take 2 hours. 12 hours later I ended up with parts removed from my axle and what they said would be a $500 repair ended up changing me $2900 For 2 new bearings. This place is a wreck. When i got home to replace lugs they cross threaded I discovered they removed my whole hydraulic brake assembly Avoid at all costs!!!!

Our truck was derated to 5mph and they towed us to their shop, tow price was fair and we were told it would need an EGR and filters cleaned and it would be 6-8 hours of work + parts. I approved the work and figured a few days to complete so we kept the driver in a nearby hotel. The fix ended up taking 4 total weeks and costing over $12k+ and included an ECM from the local dealer on top of it. At one point the truck had to be towed to the dealer (they covered this charge) and I had to deal directly with the dealer for a couple of weeks even though I was paying I-55 directly. I also lost about $4k in that first week thinking the truck would be ready and keeping my driver in the area but had to pay layover, hotel, Ubers and lost revenue on the late load. If I would have known it was going to take a month to fix I would have made arrangements sooner. Over the course of the first week we received barely any information from the shop, the owner was out due to personal reasons and we couldn't get any info from anyone else, we were hung up on a few times and told we were calling too much and it was like a black hole where we had no idea what was going on. The owner eventually got involved once we threatened to pull the truck, communication did improve with him at first but then turned into me texting him every day or so to ask for an update. I did pick up the truck 4 weeks later and was able to drive it back to our yard where I had another shop look at it since it was still throwing codes due to the turbo actuator being stuck in the open position (the owner of I55 did tell me this but at that point I told him stock working on the truck since it was drivable). The new shop indicated that the EGR never needed to be replaced, it was just in protection mode due to the actuator issue (see attached screenshot from actual code readings showing that the EGR goes into protection mode until source code gets diagnosed), we had them replace the actuator and the EGR code went away. Also, after we tested the truck with the new actuator, the DPF filter indicated full even though we paid I-55 to clean the filters, so less than 10 hours of driving later they are completely full, seems like something is off. All in all if we would have received an accurate estimate and timeframe I would have opted to tow the truck over 900 miles back to our yard, spend less than half to fix and would have been done in ¼ of the time. I did ask the owner if he could help with the bill to cover some of the $4k lost in the initial period and besides waiving a 1.5% ACH fee worth $200 he said they don’t haggle and it was the lowest they could go since they already took a bunch of hours off the $12k+ invoice.

We were so pleased when we visited this service center — the workers and mechanics were truly 5-star! Everything was simply excellent and fast. They completed the job in just one hour — we needed to replace an airbag and a light bulb. Thank you for such kind and quick service!

Me and my husband recently purchased a bus for our small business. In the process of purchasing, we drove the bus to their shop, asked them to take a look at it and tell us how it looks like in their point of view. The mechanic took a look at it, gave us the most honest answer and advised to take it straight away. We purchased the bus, and every time we needed to do minor maintenance, we took it straight to them. Never had they overcharged us for anything. If I were to describe them to others in one word, honesty would be the only word. They don't play with you, are always honest and genuine. Whichever work you need to do on whichever vehicle, they are always there and take you right away. The entire team is amazing, everybody is down to earth and genuine. They even gave us little advises and helps for our small business which are most appreciated. Also, we were thinking to put another fuel tank on our bus, and the entire team gathered in one of the offices and put their heads together, trying to find a solution for us. We are taking our bus tomorrow to continue the fuel work. These honest, hardworking and genuine people should deserve so many more stars!!!
