This place is hand-down the GO-TO spot for any Miata repairs. I previously made the costly mistake of taking my NB Miata to Mazda of Greenville dealership hoping they would know how to do some general maintenance without issue (it IS a Mazda, right?), and was unfortunately raked over the coals with surprise fixes/costs/etc., and CEL's after the repairs there since they didn't do the job right the first time. It was an absolute headache. Enter H P Motors. I heard about this place online, and had to check it out. I took my NB in for a slew of maintenance things - new clutch, SS braided slave/master cylinder line, Seals, Shifter rebuild, Fuel filter, cam cover gasket, etc. I figured this job would take quite a while with only Joe working on it, but it only took a little over 2 weeks. Not only was everything done CORRECTLY, and COMPLETELY this first time, Joe went ABOVE AND BEYOND by addressing and replacing rusty bolts on the underside of the car, power washing the transmission, and fixing my steering column surround that had come loose. He also painted the rusty areas underneath the car to help take care of the surface level corrosion present. I don't write a lot of reviews, but H P Motors and the team there is certainly deserving of one based on how well they treated my car. Definitely check with them FIRST before going anywhere else if you have a Miata in the Upstate.

I was referred to HP motors by a guy I work with stating that they specialize in Mazda's but could pretty much fix anything. I scheduled an appointment and took an older Pontiac there and was welcomed in with a tour of the facility by the owner. The car was not my everyday ride so I was in no rush to get it back and Joe the mechanic was pretty cool about keeping me updated with the progress he was making on the (brakes fixed) repairs. After about 3-4 months, I'm thinking this is a reasonable amount of time for repairs to be made, but I didn't realize Joe was the only mechanic. I told Joe I would take the car as is and maybe bring it back later for pending repairs. On the way home, I ran into issues that the car didn't have before, but that was cool because it's an older car.. I was able to repair some of those issues on my own. The AC was blowing nice and cold after repair, but the car ran hot so I pulled over to let it cool down, and no more AC after that. I got the car painted and called back to let Joe know of the other issues I was having with it and he gave me some suggestions about what to do before bringing it back just to narrow it down. I did what he suggested and called back but the owner answered saying that Joe didn't have any experience with Pontiac because they specialize in Mazda but he would have Joe call me back in the morning. I could tell by the tone (rude) of his voice that there would be no call back and there wasn't. Thanks for your great effort Joe. I ordered a valve for the AC (when the car was there) addressed to your shop. Please send it back so that I can get a refund on my card. Thanks!

If you have a MX-5 ( Miata ) this is the place to take it. They know these cars and will only recommend repairs you need. I asked for several things to be looked at and they had the opportunity to offer me work I did not need at this time. But they did not. They gave me options and handled everything very professionally. Thank you for looking out for me and my car.

HpMotors is a gem of a family owned and operated shop. They specialize in Miata’s and are extremely knowledgeable. Both Joe and Henry are very talented, transparent, and trust worthy, a winning combination when you’ve got an older car you care a lot about, hence why I have no problem making the 1.5 hour drive to get work done on my car. Their expertise was clear when I brought them a turbo Miata I didn’t know much about. By far my best experiences getting work done on my car. Highly recommend.

Knowledgeable staff help fix my RX8. Hard to find a place that actually knows rotary engines around here. The cost was a fair price for the work being done, I wouldn't call them cheap, but then their work is very professional. I wouldn't want to have this thing done every other month. Pleasant front office experience as well. I would recommend them both for engine work, or if you're trying to get a little bit more horsepower out of that car.
