Gustavo Auto Repair Introduce

Gustavo Auto Repair, located at 122 Ferris Ave, White Plains, NY 10603, USA, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, aiming to provide various automotive services to local users. This introduction will detail the perceived environment, services, features, and any noted promotional information based on the provided customer reviews, offering an objective overview of the business as experienced by its clientele.

The environment at Gustavo Auto Repair, as gleaned from the customer feedback, suggests a professional setting where car repairs are conducted. While no specific details about the waiting area or amenities are provided, the narrative points to a traditional auto shop environment. The address on Ferris Ave positions it within White Plains, a readily accessible area for vehicle owners in the vicinity. The mention of picking up a car from "the lot" and dropping it off to "one of his employees" indicates a standard operational setup for an auto repair facility.

Gustavo Auto Repair, as an "Auto Repair Station," purports to offer a range of automotive services. Based on the customer reviews, specific services that customers have sought include:

  • Timing Chain Installation: One customer explicitly details a significant undertaking involving the installation of a timing chain on a Jeep Wrangler, indicating the shop's capacity for complex engine work.
  • Engine Replacement: Another review mentions an engine replacement service, highlighting their capability to handle major powertrain components.
  • Brake Service: A complementary brake job was mentioned in one account, suggesting that brake system repairs are also part of their offerings.

Given its categorization as an "Auto Repair Station," it is generally implied that the shop would also perform more routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, diagnostics for check engine lights, and addressing various vehicle performance issues. However, the provided reviews focus heavily on more extensive and challenging repairs, painting a picture of a shop that takes on significant mechanical work.

The features of Gustavo Auto Repair, as described by the provided customer reviews, present a mixed and concerning picture, primarily highlighting issues related to service delivery, communication, and post-repair vehicle performance. It is crucial to note that the following points are drawn directly from the subjective experiences of customers and are not independently verified claims by the business itself.

  • Initial Engagement and Pricing: One customer noted an initial positive interaction where Gustavo provided an estimate ($3000 for a timing chain installation) and confirmed the scope of work. This suggests an initial phase of clear communication regarding pricing for major jobs.
  • Significant Delays: A recurring theme in the negative feedback is substantial delays in service. One customer waited "almost two weeks for him to pick it up" and then "A whole month goes by and he keeps telling me week after week that it’s not done." Another wait of "ANOTHER week to get my car back" was also reported. This points to potential issues with workload management or internal processes.
  • Unresolved Issues Post-Repair: After receiving their car, customers reported immediate and severe problems. One customer experienced "absolutely ZERO POWER/TORQUE," an engine that was "loud and screaming," and inability to maintain speed, directly after a major timing chain job. The check engine light remained on, and brakes were "squishy," contrary to the mechanic's assurances. Another review explicitly states, "He was supposed to replace my car engine and died way before the year mark, won’t recognize the year warranty and wanted to fix @the dead engine." This raises significant concerns about the quality and completeness of repairs.
  • Questionable Diagnostics and Advice: One customer was told their driving style caused issues, and the still-squishy brakes were normal, which contradicts their prior experience. This suggests a potential lack of transparent or accurate diagnosis.
  • Lack of Accountability and Warranty Issues: A critical feature highlighted is the alleged refusal to honor warranty for an engine replacement that failed prematurely. "Won’t recognize the year warranty," and the mechanic wanting to charge for fixing the "dead engine" after it was reportedly not properly mounted, are severe claims against the business's integrity and commitment to its work.
  • Communication Breakdown and Billing Disputes: A customer reported texting Gustavo "four times during his hours of operation and received NO response" during a critical vehicle breakdown. Furthermore, a follow-up repair, related to an oil issue post-timing chain replacement, resulted in a bill of "over $1000," with the mechanic allegedly blaming the customer for an oil pan issue despite claiming to have a "special tool" to avoid its removal during the initial major repair. This suggests a pattern of communication issues and potentially deceptive billing practices.
  • Allegations of Fraud: The most severe feature noted in the reviews is the direct accusation of "scamming clients" and "frauds people," with one customer alleging that parts were replaced but charged for new ones, and an engine not being properly mounted.

Regarding promotional information, no explicit promotions, discounts, or loyalty programs are mentioned in the provided customer reviews. The initial interaction with an estimated price for a major job could be seen as a form of initial engagement. However, the subsequent negative experiences, particularly the allegations of unfulfilled promises, unresolved issues, and refusal to honor warranties, overshadow any positive promotional aspects. In the absence of positive testimonials or clear marketing messages, the customer experiences themselves serve as the most direct "information on the Internet" about this business. For potential customers, the detailed negative accounts would strongly influence their decision-making process, making it challenging for the business to promote itself positively based solely on this feedback. The negative word-of-mouth, as demonstrated by the extensive reviews, would significantly impact any promotional efforts.

In conclusion, Gustavo Auto Repair, located at 122 Ferris Ave, White Plains, NY 10603, USA, within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, is presented through customer reviews as a facility that undertakes significant automotive repairs, including timing chain and engine replacements. However, the available information from customers highlights severe concerns regarding prolonged service delays, unresolved post-repair issues, questionable diagnostic advice, and allegations of not honoring warranties and potentially fraudulent billing practices. The customer experiences, rather than any formal promotional materials, define the public perception of this business based on the provided data. Potential customers are advised to carefully consider these detailed accounts when evaluating Gustavo Auto Repair for their automotive needs. The contact phone numbers provided are (914) 328-0400 and +1 914-328-0400.

Gustavo Auto Repair Customer Reviews

PLEASE READ! I’ve been fixing my car for the past 4 years on my own. I realized I couldn’t do the timing chain after 8 months of trying while balancing school/work. I was recommended Gustavo from a family member who said his father passsed down the business to his son. So I reached out and got in contact. He estimated the job to be $3000. He checked my work and confirmed it would be that price for the WHOLE timing chain installation. So after a month of saving up I called and he said he would come by with a tow the same day. I waited almost two weeks for him to pick it up. That was the first red flag. If you’re overworked why promise someone a job you can do right away. He comes by two weeks later and picks it up. A whole month goes by and he keeps telling me week after week that it’s not done. Ok, I understand it’s a big job. I’m patient. Finally, he calls and says it time for it to be picked up. I greeted him with open arms. I finally have my car back after so long. As he’s pulling out my car from the lot I see liquid dropping from the bottom of my car. I thought nothing of it. I trusted him and thought wow he really cleaned up my oil tank. He gets out the car and as we hug he said “we’re family here, you can call me anytime. But, there’s a few things you should know. The brakes are squishy and the check engine light is on but they will all go away after 80 miles”. I said “Sure! Anything you say Gustavo you helped me out so much”. Wow I thought this guy was an Angel sent from above he fixed all my problems and offered me to come over his shop and observe/teach me auto repairs after him seeing all the fixes I’ve done on my car. Immediately, the following Monday after work on my way home I tried to merge onto the highway and was almost driven off the road from an SUV. My Jeep wrangler had absolutely ZERO POWER/TORQUE. I pressed the accelerator down to the floor and didn’t even get past 60 MPH. The engine was loud and screaming. I was terrified. I couldn’t even maintain 40 MPH while on the slow lane on the same highway. I called him and voiced my concern and he said no problem I’ll check it out. I come by that Saturday morning and dropped of my car to one of his employees. I told this employee the exact problem that I was having. I wait ANOTHER week to get my car back. This time he said it was the way I’m driving and did a complementary brake job. 2nd Red Flag. I did my own brake job before and they were stiff as rock. He gave me my car back and the brakes were still down to the floor. “Ok” I thought this guy has more experience with cars than I do so it must be me I’m the problem I have to be patient and drive carefully. This is what he’s tellling me by the way to be naive and conform to his instructions. A MONTH from the pick up date I run out of oil on Mamaroneck Ave with my sibling. I was in disbelief. Luckily, I was the the first car at the red light and turned on my hazards and pushed my car to an empty lot. I called my family for support and had them pick up my sibling. I texted Gustavo four times during his hours of operation as this accident happened around 5PM and recieved NO response. A family member managed to get a hold of him as I was walking to the nearest Mobil Gas station to buy oil. His first response was “how much oil did you put in?”. 3rd Red flag. What you mean how much oil did I just put in my car. My car ran out of oil and I have to get a tow 😂. I get a local tow and he says he’ll come by the next day to pick it up. Oh man I waited another week for him to pick it up from my driveway and he brings his WHOLE staff. Next thing you know you have 4 mechanics wondering how in the hell did this car ran out oil??? So I didn’t pay attention to it. I believed he was going to fix it under warranty. I come back a month later again to pick it up and he hits me with a >$1000 bill saying it was my fault that the oil pan was not sealed right. HOW? I explained to him during our test drive that the oil pan needs to be removed to complete the bottom chain. He told me he has a special tool. Ok. Scammer 👍

Gustavo SCAMS CLIENTS He was supposed to replace my car engine and died way before the year mark, won’t recognize the year warranty and wanted to fix @the dead engine” Also the new mechanics (had it checked with 2 different ones) said the engine was not properly mounted and was part of the failure. He's been my mechanic for over 10 yrs now. Great work at very affordable prices. Very respectable and honest mechanic. I greatly recommend him and his crew if you need any work done.

The worst mechanic I have ever known. I took my car because the air conditioning did not work. I paid 650 it only worked well for me 15 days. I was taking it again, the man told me it was ready and the surprise was that it still didn't work. I took it a third time it worked 15 days and another time it doesn't work. El peor mecanico que e conocido.!!!!! No pierdan su tiempo ni su dinero aqui!! don't waste your time and money here !!

I never post anything. But I had horrible service. Made a simple repair to replace my alternator bracket. Instead of replacing it he welded it back together. It broke down again. He supposedly fixed and I just broke down again this morning. Had to pay over 200 in towing. Since I broke on the highway Twice. Send he would fix the job. And still waiting for his call to pick the car. He is not a man of his word. Don't go there because he won't fix it. Only patch it up and your going to have to.go somewhere else. He charged $ 600 now I have to $400 at midas to get it fixed
