While specific, time-limited promotional offers for Flying Dog Garage are not explicitly detailed, their core promotional strategy revolves around highlighting their inherent value propositions. The consistent offering of "the most affordable rate for the best quality products" combined with their 3-year/36,000-mile warranty acts as a powerful ongoing promotion. Their free onsite estimates, if applicable for diagnostic work, also serve as an incentive for new customers to experience their service. The strong emphasis on clear communication, trustworthy advice, and a customer-centric approach, often highlighted in glowing customer reviews, effectively promotes their service as a reliable and high-quality alternative to dealerships for import car owners. They position themselves as a company that does not oversell services but rather informs customers of critical needs, building long-term trust and loyalty. This reputation, cultivated over 17 years, is perhaps their most potent promotional tool.

Flying Dog Garage Customer Reviews

I have a 1992 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 with approx. 27K miles. Due to age of the vehicle, I decided to replace the timing belt. I also requested a thorough mechanical inspection of the vehicle. I am the original owner and try to keep the vehicle in showroom condition. It has never seen snow and rain only once. It was never a daily driver and was always garaged and covered. They were able to find several issues due to age of the car. Every issue was documented with picture or video and I was given the choice of whether to fix the issue or not. Through constant communication with Elizabeth, the work was coordinated. Due to age of the vehicle, sourcing parts was accomplished through their connections with several suppliers, not an easy task. When they determined a drive train component did not meet their standards, they corrected the issue instead of just installing the part. I never would have known the difference. I talked with two other shops before contacting Flying Dog, and they declined servicing my vehicle due to age and difficulty in sourcing parts. They are not cheap, but given the Classic status of the vehicle, I consider their work and prices to be good value for money spent. I consider them a trusted business and recommend them highly.

In just under 4 hours, Justin was able to inspect, diagnose, show me, and fix the most pressing problems with my 1988 Subaru Justy. He had experience with older vehicles and carburetors which was great. Customer service was also excellent with Elizabeth handling the scheduling of my appointment and the billing. I was also sent an email with photos of all the potential future issues with the car and descriptions of the problems, which was much appreciated. Unfortunately less than a week later, my car broke down for a different issue that I believe should have been caught in the ~$200 full car inspection. Additionally, the pricing here was fairly high for what needed to actually be done. For example, I was charged $64 to simply screw my air filter back on with new screws, and I was quoted $529 for new (12-inch) tires and balancing. For the work that was done, the quality was excellent. The mechanics are very skilled and customer service is great. Unfortunately the cost and further estimates were very high and a pressing issue that caused me to break down 6 days later wasn't caught during the inspection. 4 stars.

I believe this is a great place to have your vehicle serviced and I was pleased for the results they given me on my car. The staff were very kind and the communication was clear, and the diagnostics they do is thorough. I recommend them to any and all馃憤

I don鈥檛 usually write reviews, especially negative ones, but I think it鈥檚 important for people to know what they鈥檙e getting into with this garage. I was referred to this shop by another garage that said they specialize in foreign cars. I have a 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL that needed some work, specifically on the transmission, which the other shop couldn鈥檛 handle. Unfortunately, my experience here was very frustrating. 1. Poor Communication From the start, the staff didn鈥檛 seem interested in listening to me. I tried explaining what was going on with my car, but the person I dealt with kept interrupting me and dismissing what I was saying. As someone who鈥檚 been driving this car for years, I know its history and issues better than anyone, but she wouldn鈥檛 hear me out. This was really annoying and unprofessional. 2. Unnecessary Diagnostics and Long Waits I had just done a diagnostic test at the previous garage three days earlier and already knew what needed to be done. Still, they insisted on running their own diagnostic before doing anything. I agreed, hoping it would speed things up, but instead, I ended up waiting four hours鈥攚ay longer than it should take for any competent shop. When they finally gave me the results, it was the same information I had already told them. To top it off, none of the actual work I requested was done, and I was charged $239 for wasting half my day. 3. Misunderstanding Service Codes They don鈥檛 seem to understand how to properly interpret service codes. For them, an error code automatically means replacing a part, instead of figuring out the root cause. For example, my car had low transmission fluid, which is clearly stated in the Mercedes-Benz manual as a common cause of the error I was seeing. Instead of addressing that simple fix, they jumped straight to recommending expensive part replacements. This felt either like a lack of knowledge or an attempt to upsell unnecessary work. 4. Overpriced Estimates Their estimates were ridiculously high. For example, they quoted nearly $2,000 to replace spark plugs鈥攁 routine service that shouldn鈥檛 cost anywhere near that much. For a car with 185,000 miles, I鈥檓 not trying to get it to perfect condition, so such pricing was completely unreasonable. 5. All-or-Nothing Service Policy They also have this strange policy where you have to agree to everything they recommend before they鈥檒l do anything. Even though I only needed specific work done, they wanted me to redo recent maintenance I鈥檇 already had done at another shop, like oil changes and filter replacements. This didn鈥檛 make any sense to me and seemed like another way to pad the bill.

Flying Dog Garage is an excellent shop to bring your Euro cars. I own a fairly rare VW. And finding shops can be very stressful especially ones that will appreciate and take care of my car the way it deserves. I have a background in the industry being an apprentice mechanic over 2 myself. And I can say I was genuinely impressed with quality and attention to detail. The shop provides photos of there findings on your vehicles summary which was awesome. And I'd like to say thanks again to the awesome and super friendly staff for the quick turn around and honesty. One last thing the facilty is very nice and well kept with a pleasing interior and comfortable seats.
