Fleet Auto Services Introduce

For individuals in Kingsport, TN, seeking automotive services, Fleet Auto Services, located at 102 Summerville Rd, Kingsport, TN 37663, USA, is an establishment that has a history of serving the local community. They can be contacted by phone at (423) 239-3135 or +1 423-239-3135. As an "Auto Repair Station," Fleet Auto Services would typically offer a range of vehicle maintenance and repair solutions.

Environment and Facilities

Information directly detailing the physical environment and facilities of Fleet Auto Services is limited in the provided reviews. Generally, an "Auto Repair Station" would consist of service bays equipped with necessary tools and lifts for vehicle maintenance and repair. There would typically be a reception area for customer interaction, drop-offs, and pick-ups. The functionality and organization of such a facility are paramount to its operation. Without specific details from reviews regarding the cleanliness or comfort of their waiting areas, it can only be inferred that the primary focus is on the repair work itself. The conflicting nature of the reviews makes it difficult to objectively describe the current state of their customer-facing environment or workshop beyond typical expectations for an automotive repair shop.

Services Offered

As an "Auto Repair Station," Fleet Auto Services would typically provide a broad spectrum of services for vehicles. Based on the customer reviews, specifically the mention of "driveline" work, it is evident they undertake mechanical repairs. A common range of services for such a facility would generally include:

  • General Automotive Repair: Addressing various mechanical issues, such as engine diagnostics and repair, transmission services, and electrical system troubleshooting.
  • Driveline Repair: As explicitly mentioned in one review, this involves working on components that transmit power from the engine to the wheels, including driveshafts, U-joints, and carrier bearings.
  • Routine Maintenance: Standard services like oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and tune-ups to ensure vehicle longevity and performance.
  • Brake Services: Inspection, repair, and replacement of brake system components.
  • Suspension and Steering Repair: Addressing issues related to vehicle handling, ride comfort, and stability.
  • Tire Services: While not directly mentioned, many auto repair stations offer basic tire services like rotations and flat repairs.

The type of work undertaken, such as driveline repair, suggests they handle more complex mechanical issues beyond basic maintenance.

Key Features and Customer Experience

The provided customer reviews for Fleet Auto Services present a mixed and contrasting picture of the business, making an objective assessment of its features and customer experience challenging. It highlights a dichotomy between past and recent experiences:

  • Historical Reputation / Family Legacy: One review mentions, "His father Earl has worked on my family's cars forever now he runs it business runs just the same great." This suggests that Fleet Auto Services has a long-standing history in the community, with a positive reputation built over years by the previous generation, maintaining a consistent level of service ("business runs just the same great"). This implies a tradition of reliability and trust for loyal, long-term customers.
  • Recent Negative Experience: In stark contrast, a recent review describes a severely negative encounter. This customer alleges that the business "tore my driveline up" and subsequently, the owner (presumably the current one, "he") displayed highly unprofessional conduct, telling the customer "not to come back" and threatening to "crush" their trucks if not removed. The customer also states they were prevented from retrieving their own vehicles. This review cites issues with repair quality ("can't even do sumn small like a driveline"), high cost for the service ($334 for parts and labor on an already removed driveline), and extremely poor customer interaction, labeling it "Not a good business" and advising against recommendation.

The presence of such conflicting reviews means that the "features" of Fleet Auto Services, from a customer perspective, are currently inconsistent. While there's a legacy of good service, recent feedback indicates significant issues with repair quality, customer handling, and business ethics. This sharp contrast suggests a possible change in management or a significant shift in business practices that has led to a deterioration in service quality and customer relations for some individuals.

Key features, therefore, appear to be: a historical foundation in the community through a family business, with some customers still experiencing consistent "great" service, juxtaposed with severe recent concerns regarding repair competence, customer communication, and professionalism.

Promotional Information and Customer Benefits

Without specific promotional information or marketing materials, the "promotional" aspect of Fleet Auto Services, like many long-standing local businesses, would traditionally rely on its established reputation and word-of-mouth referrals. The positive historical review indicates that for some, the benefit lies in a continued relationship with a trusted family-run business that has consistently provided good service for their vehicles. This implies:

  • Long-term Trust: For customers who have had their cars serviced by the family for years, the primary benefit is the established trust and familiarity with the service provider.
  • Consistent Service (Historically): The "business runs just the same great" comment suggests that the quality of service for long-time patrons has remained reliable.

However, the recent negative review drastically impacts any promotional message. The alleged actions – damaging a driveline, threatening to crush vehicles, and refusing customer access to their property – would negate any positive promotional efforts. For potential new customers, or those experiencing similar issues, the "benefits" would be overshadowed by significant concerns about:

  • Risk of Poor Workmanship: The accusation of a damaged driveline for a "small" job raises concerns about the quality of repairs.
  • Customer Disrespect and Intimidation: The reported threats and refusal of access create an extremely negative and potentially alarming customer experience.
  • Lack of Accountability: The alleged refusal to address the issue ("told me not to come back") indicates a severe lack of accountability.

In an objective overview, while Fleet Auto Services may have a legacy of reliable service under its previous leadership (Earl), the more recent, highly critical feedback suggests that prospective customers should exercise caution and potentially seek further, more current information about their experiences before choosing this auto repair station. The business appears to be facing challenges in maintaining its former reputation, based on the stark contrast in customer testimonials.

Had a new engine installed that was supposed to just have 47k miles on it, the engine didn't last 500 miles and it blew up. I called and asked for help with it and got cussed by the owner, I tried repeatedly to call them back and they would no longer answer the phone. I ended up putting over 9000 dollars in a 4000 dollar car and ended up selling it to a salvage yard for 400 dollars. They maybe good at small things but not this!
