Engine Tech: Cylinder Heads Introduce

Engine Tech: Cylinder Heads, located at 6460 Buford Hwy NE Suite 4B, Norcross, GA 30071, is a highly specialized establishment operating within the "Auto Repair Stations" category. While the broad category encompasses various automotive services, Engine Tech distinguishes itself by focusing intensely on a critical aspect of engine performance: cylinder heads, and by extension, other key engine components. This specialization positions them not just as a general auto repair shop, but as an expert resource for complex engine-related issues and component reconditioning.

Environment and Atmosphere

The environment at Engine Tech: Cylinder Heads is likely a blend of a professional automotive workshop and a precision machine shop. Given its focus on cylinder heads and engine work, one would expect a dedicated workspace equipped with specialized machinery for engine machining, cleaning, testing, and assembly. This could include equipment for resurfacing cylinder heads, valve seat cutting, pressure testing, and potentially thermal cleaning systems for cast iron heads and high-pressure washers for aluminum heads. The overall atmosphere would be geared towards technical expertise and precision. Customer reviews, however, shed light on a crucial human element. Comments like "Very nice place to come and bring your engine the owner is very polite he's a nice person very open to teach love this place" highlight a welcoming and educational atmosphere. This indicates that despite the highly technical nature of their work, the staff, particularly the owner, prioritizes clear communication and customer understanding. This approachable demeanor helps demystify complex engine repairs for clients, fostering trust and a positive experience.

Services Offered

Engine Tech: Cylinder Heads primarily provides specialized services related to engine components, with a strong emphasis on cylinder heads. Based on the business name and customer feedback, their core services include:

  • Cylinder Head Reconditioning and Repair: This is their primary specialization. It involves inspecting, cleaning, machining, and repairing damaged or worn cylinder heads. Services can include resurfacing (decking) to ensure a flat mating surface, valve seat and guide repair/replacement, crack repair (including aluminum welding and cast iron welding), and overall reconditioning to restore the head to OEM specifications or better. The review mentioning "Got my Geo Metro 3 Cylinder head decked for $60 including removal of stubborn dowel pins" explicitly points to their decking service for various engine types.
  • Engine Component Machining: Beyond cylinder heads, they likely offer machining services for other engine parts, such as cylinder blocks (resurfacing, boring, honing), crankshafts (grinding, polishing), and camshafts. Their expertise in "decking" implies capabilities in precision surface machining.
  • Engine Assembly and Disassembly Assistance: While they specialize in components, they might also offer services related to the removal and installation of cylinder heads or entire engines, or at least provide expert advice for those performing DIY engine work. The owner being "very open to teach" suggests they are willing to guide customers through aspects of the process.
  • Parts Sourcing: As a business focused on engine components, they might also facilitate the sourcing of new or remanufactured cylinder heads and other engine parts, offering options for fully dressed heads (with valves, springs, etc.) or bare heads for engine builders.
  • Engine Diagnostics (Specialized): While not a general diagnostic shop, their deep knowledge of engine internals means they can likely assist in diagnosing complex engine noises or failures directly related to the cylinder head or block.
Their specialization allows them to handle intricate engine problems that many general auto repair shops might outsource or be less equipped to handle efficiently.

Our shop always gets our heads done at from Nick. He has a large selection of other parts such as rings and bearings as well. Although he says he'll get something done within next few days, nornally he'll get it done next day which is great. Highly recommended. To find him you'll need to go to the tire shop at the corner of the building and go down and turn right. He'll be the 3rd or 4th door down with a wooden table out front

This place helped me to get my Subaru cylinder heads resurfaced and cleaned quick, fast, and in a hurry when I needed them done the most (and for a reasonable price). The guy (Nick) who owns the shop is very knowledgeable. I'd use his services again, and I'd recommend him to others as well.
