Dumont Auto Parts Introduce

Dumont Auto Parts is an auto parts store located at 11257 IA-3, Dumont, IA 50625, USA. Operating within the general category of "Auto Repair Stations" as per the prompt's context, which often encompasses businesses that sell parts alongside or in conjunction with repair services, Dumont Auto Parts appears to primarily function as a supplier of automotive components. The store can be reached via phone at (641) 857-3826 or +1 641-857-3826.

Environment and Operations

Based on the customer reviews, Dumont Auto Parts appears to operate as a salvage yard or a used auto parts supplier, where customers might be expected to locate parts themselves within a designated area. The first review describes a customer "searching" for a part and needing to "walked back to the car to grab my tools but wanted to ask the price before I pulled it." This suggests an outdoor, possibly unorganized, environment typical of salvage operations where parts are pulled directly from donor vehicles. The presence of "the old lady behind the desk" indicates a counter service for pricing and transactions. The general impression conveyed by the reviews is that the environment might lack the structured, customer-friendly layout of a conventional retail auto parts store.

Services and Goods Offered

As an auto parts store operating within the broader "Auto Repair Stations" category, Dumont Auto Parts would be expected to offer a variety of automotive components for sale. Given the nature implied by the customer reviews, these parts are likely to be used or salvaged from other vehicles. The customer's experience of searching for a specific part (a transmission) and later another unnamed "other part" reinforces the idea that their primary service is the sale of individual used auto components. Typically, such establishments cater to individuals performing their own repairs or smaller repair shops looking for more affordable part alternatives. The process appears to involve customers identifying the parts they need and then negotiating or inquiring about pricing at a central desk. While the reviews mention the acquisition of a "transmission" and another "part," specific details about the breadth of their inventory (e.g., engines, body panels, electrical components, interior parts) are not provided. It is also unclear if they offer any installation services or mechanical repairs, as their primary function, based on available information, is the sale of parts.

Features and Business Practices

The features and business practices of Dumont Auto Parts, as perceived by customers, appear to be a point of concern based on the provided reviews. One customer highlighted significant issues with customer service, describing an employee as "rude immediately" and yelling "nope" when asked about another part. This suggests a lack of professional decorum and a challenging interaction for the customer. Another significant feature, or rather a lack thereof, is the apparent disorganization in their payment and order tracking system. A customer who ordered a transmission reported that payment was taken immediately, but they had not received "shipping info or even a purchase invoice" weeks later. The inability of different staff members to access transaction history and the repeated "I'll have Chris call you back" loop indicate a disjointed and potentially unreliable internal system for managing customer orders and payments. The customer explicitly states, "Doesn't seem like a legit system for a reputable business," and considers it "fraud at this point." This suggests a critical issue with their operational transparency and accountability. Furthermore, the first review mentions a price disparity, noting that a part was "twice the price as Frank's in Fort Dodge," indicating that their pricing may not always be competitive, at least for certain items.

Promotional Information and Customer Perception

The promotional information for Dumont Auto Parts, as derived from the provided customer reviews, is overwhelmingly negative. Unlike businesses that actively promote positive attributes, the available feedback paints a concerning picture of customer experience. The reviews act as a form of negative promotion, strongly advising against visiting the store:

  • "Do not go here. After being pointed in the complete wrong direction and an hour of searching, I finally found the part I was looking for. I walked back to the car to grab my tools but wanted to ask the price before I pulled it. The old lady behind the desk obviously has no idea how to treat people. Looked up, and it was twice the price as Frank's in Fort Dodge. I told her I'd just go there since I had to anyway. She got rude immediately, and I said okay what do you want for this other part that I had found searching? She said, 'Nope.' I asked her what she wanted, and she again said NOPE! I said so 'I can't buy this?' Thus time she yelled nope! How rude did she have to be, wasted almost 2 hours of my day. I would suggest that if you wanted to be treated like you're a beaten dog, go give them your business."
  • "I ordered a transmission weeks ago. They took payment of over $1k almost immediately but I have yet to receive shipping info or even a purchase invoice. Every phone call I make I get a different person, allegedly who has no way to see any transaction/interaction the others have made. Doesn't seem like a legit system for a reputable business. Currently caught in a loop of 'I'll have Chris call you back'. Definitely counts as fraud at this point."

These detailed accounts highlight significant issues with customer service, perceived rudeness, uncompetitive pricing, and a highly problematic order fulfillment and tracking process. For local users, this information serves as a strong deterrent. In the absence of any positive reviews or direct promotional materials from the business itself, the existing customer feedback suggests a severe negative perception of Dumont Auto Parts and its operations within the community. Potential customers are explicitly advised to seek alternatives, indicating a significant challenge for the business in attracting and retaining clientele based on current public information.

Called in advance said they had my car, “you can come down and check out the place” or something along that line. Drove an hour to get there just to be told they don’t got anything like that and that they don’t let anyone back in the yard. 10/10 would not do again.

Bought a used driver seat from them. Said it was immaculate. Got there and they charged me double in person for it. Really needed it , and had it wrapped up so bought it and loaded it in my truck. Unloaded it at home and it had skid marks of human fecal matter smeared all over it. It looked like my underwear after I had eaten a whole six pack and a pound this one time. They told me to kick rocks when I asked for a refund. 0/10 this place is a load of dirty barnacles.

I do not recommend dealing with these scammers; they are the biggest scammers in the state of Iowa. I called them in advance, and we agreed on a price, but our driver does not speak English, and they blatantly deceived him when he made the payment. I tried to pay online, but they refused. They saw that the driver was an immigrant and took advantage of it. It’s disgusting to deal with scammers…
