Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey Introduce
For local users in Las Vegas, Nevada, seeking an "Auto Repair Station" for their vehicle maintenance and repair needs, **Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey** is a point of interest. Located at 3580 E Tropicana Ave #700, Las Vegas, NV 89121, USA, this establishment operates under the combined identity of a long-standing local business, Dolar's Automotive, and the national franchise, Grease Monkey. You can reach them by phone at (702) 435-1047 or via mobile at +1 702-435-1047.
The **environment** at Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey, as described by recent customer reviews, appears to be a source of significant customer frustration and distrust. While one customer mentioned having received "excellent service" from "Dolar's automotive since 2005," their most recent experience under the new "Powered by Grease Monkey" model was characterized as the "worst service ever." The front office environment is described as having a person who "says everything to make you happy, whether its the truth or not," suggesting a lack of transparency and honesty. The operational environment, particularly the communication between front desk staff and mechanics, seems disjointed, leading to contradictory information being given to customers, as highlighted by the oil type discrepancy. Furthermore, the waiting area experience, as detailed in the battery replacement anecdote, points to a chaotic and disorganized process where customers wait for services that cannot be provided, due to issues like backordered parts or miscommunication. The instance of a hitch installation taking longer than quoted and not receiving a completion call further contributes to an impression of an inefficient and potentially misleading environment. This contrasts sharply with the expectation of a "reputable" shop, implying that the current environment is not conducive to building customer trust or providing a seamless service experience.
As an "Auto Repair Station," Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey offers a range of **services or goods for sale** typical of a quick-lube and general repair shop, combined with more specific services. Based on the customer reviews, their services include:
- **Oil Changes:** Both regular and synthetic oil changes are offered, though there seems to be a significant issue with correctly fulfilling customer requests for oil type.
- **Battery Replacement:** Customers can order and have vehicle batteries replaced, though there are documented problems with inventory management and communication regarding part availability.
- **Hitch Installation:** They provide professional installation services for hitches, though pricing and labor time transparency have been points of contention.
- **General Auto Maintenance and Repair:** The general nature of a "Grease Monkey" franchise, combined with Dolar's Automotive's historical operations, suggests they would also offer other routine maintenance services such as tire rotations, fluid checks, filter replacements, and potentially minor mechanical repairs. However, specific details on these broader services are not provided in the given reviews.
The core business appears to revolve around common, quick-service automotive needs, but the execution of even these seemingly straightforward tasks has been problematic according to recent feedback.
The **features** of Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey, as perceived by recent customers, are primarily negative and significantly impact their overall reputation. A notable feature is a severe **lack of transparency and honesty** in customer communication. The discrepancy regarding oil type and the battery backorder situation, where staff provided misleading information, are prime examples of this. This leads to a strong perception of staff "saying things just to make you happy even if it's a lie," which is a critical flaw for any service business. Another reported feature is **pricing discrepancies and overcharging**. One customer was billed for two hours for a 30-minute hitch install and charged a higher hourly rate than quoted for bringing their own parts. This indicates issues with fair and consistent pricing, as well as adherence to initial quotes. Furthermore, there appears to be a **lack of internal communication and organization**, evidenced by the multiple instances of staff being unaware of previous conversations or part availability. The failure to call customers when service is complete also points to poor operational flow. While the original Dolar's Automotive may have had a reputation for "excellent service," the current features under the "Powered by Grease Monkey" branding, as reflected in the provided recent reviews, include significant shortcomings in integrity, transparency, and operational efficiency, leading to customer frustration and a perception of being "ripped off" or treated like "idiots."
In terms of **promotional information**, the provided customer reviews present a severely damaging picture for Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey. The "TLDR: don't wait to book an appt with 'reputable' brand and get charged 4x the fair price. Go get ripped off by any other shop" is a direct and scathing anti-promotion. Similarly, the detailed accounts of deceptive communication, overcharging, and disorganization ("Sorry but they all look like idiots") serve as powerful deterrents for potential customers. While the historical positive experience with "Dolar's automotive since 2005" suggests a legacy of good service, the recent negative reviews indicate a significant decline, making it difficult for the business to leverage past reputation without addressing current issues. For any effective promotional strategy, the primary focus would need to be on rebuilding trust and demonstrating a fundamental shift in customer service and operational transparency. Without addressing the core problems highlighted in these recent reviews, any traditional promotional efforts would likely be undermined by the overwhelmingly negative word-of-mouth. Currently, the most prominent "promotional information" available online serves as a warning rather than an invitation for new business.
In conclusion, Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey operates as an "Auto Repair Station" in Las Vegas, offering standard services like oil changes, battery replacements, and hitch installations. While it carries the legacy of a previously well-regarded local business, recent customer experiences highlight severe issues with its current operation. The environment is perceived as dishonest and disorganized, and key features include a reported lack of transparency, pricing discrepancies, and poor internal communication. The available promotional information, based on recent customer feedback, is overwhelmingly negative, strongly advising against using their services. Potential customers should approach this establishment with extreme caution, weighing the severe negative reviews against any historical positive perceptions.

Dolar's Automotive Powered by Grease Monkey Customer Reviews
I've been going to Dolar's automotive since 2005 and received excellent service. I went in today for a basic oil change on my 2014 nissan frontier, had no idea the business was sold, and had the worst service ever. The person in the front is nice but says everything to make you happy, whether its the truth or not. Told them I wanted a regular oil change. They still had my service record in the computer and I told the person in the front I wanted regular oil. When they were done, I asked her again, what type of oil did they use and she said synthetic. I told her it was suppose to be regular oil. She then said, oh let me check with the mechanic. She went in the back, came back and said, oh yeah, they used regular oil, I just couldn't read his writing. Just then, the mechanic walks in with my truck keys so I ask him, what kind of oil did they use and he said, synthetic...why is there a problem? I said yes, it should have been regular. I look at the front girl, and she apologizes. What a liar and what idiots. While I was waiting, another guy brought his car to change the battery. He called weeks before to order the batter, called two days before to confirm the battery was there. After a waiting a while, he asked the front girl about the battery warranty, she says she don't know but she'll ask the technician. She comes back and says he needs to call bmw because it's the original battery that came with the car 4 years ago. He explains that he's not looking for warranty info on the old battery, he wants the info on the new battery. She goes in the back to speak to the technician again. This time, the owner comes out and says the battery is on backorder 30 days. So the guy waiting explained that the whole reason he's there waiting, is because he was told the battery came in and he was waiting for it to be changed. The owner says oh he must've spoke to the other girl who is no longer here and that he must've spoke to the old owners about ordering a battery. So the guy says give him back his keys and he'll be on his way. Why did they take his car if they didn't have the battery? So while he's waiting for them to bring out his car, the owner comes back and asks him, oh, this there a problem with the starter? The guy explains, no problem with anything, the battery is 4 years old and I just wanted a new one. Sorry but they all look like idiots. Saying things just to make you happy even if it's a lie

TLDR: don't wait to book an appt with "reputable" brand and get charged 4x the fair price. Go get ripped off by any other shop. I did my research to find a "reputable" shop to do a hitch install. According to the install guide (and an online video from the manufacturer), it's a 30 minute install guide for professionals and 60 mins for amateurs. So color me surprised when I was billed for 2 hrs. When I called to complain, they said it's because "modifications to the car needed to be made" however those said modifications are included in the install guide... Also, they quoted me $115/hr but I was charged $122/hr because I brought my own parts even though I told the receptionist on the phone I was bringing my own parts. Oh and they didn't call me when it was finished (I had to call them)....maybe stalling to say it took extra time 🤣

I made an appointment for a used vehicle inspection with an SUV I purchased from Car Max. Super friendly and very trustworthy. They found nothing wrong with the vehicle and I will definitely be going back whenever a need arises.

The check engine light came on my 2018 Toyota Corolla. I took it to several places to get it diagnosed and all three places were giving me a different diagnosis and charging me upwards of $1,000 to get it fixed. Thankfully a friend recommended Dolar's Automotive. The lady at the front was really friendly and professional. I dropped my car early in the morning and two hours later I received a call from Dola explaining the results of the diagnosis and the price of the repair (which was $290 with tax!). He took the time to explain in detail the results of the diagnosis and the repair. And they had my vehicle ready the same day! I'm glad that I found an automotive shop where the mechanics are knowledgeable, professional and overall honest. A shop that doesn't try to dry you clean when it comes to fixing your vehicle. If you are looking for a mechanic shop look no further Dolar's Automotive is the spot!

Excellent service. I took my truck in for a leak and found out my powersteering was on its last leg..22 years... then he recommended I get the undercarriage cleaned to see if there were any other leaks... on my way to get that done..my breaks go completely out... my brake hose was so old it had a hole and detached...I had it towed, and he had the truck back to me in a couple days... and he replace both of the hoses in the front..knowing the other would eventually give out..I appreciated that so much. I took the truck and did like he said and had the motor and uncarriage cleaned... put a new cardboard in my garage under my truck and not a drop of oil. I understand people hate to spend money on car repairs and feel as though they (mechanics) are out to rip you off. This is a skilled craft and Dolar knows his stuff!!! He lets you know exactly what he finds and what need to he done. I couldn't be more grateful... as long as he's in business I'll be taking my truck to him. He is honest, you don't find them like that anymore.
