Dave's Fabrication Introduce
Dave's Fabrication, located at 429 E 21st St, Bakersfield, CA 93305, USA, operates as an "Auto Repair Station" that historically has been involved in automotive fabrication and restoration. In the specialized field of automotive repair, fabrication shops are often sought for custom work, restoration projects, and specialized repairs that go beyond standard mechanical or body shop services. This can include custom metalwork, chassis modifications, and comprehensive vehicle rebuilds, particularly for classic or highly customized vehicles.
The environment at Dave's Fabrication would typically be a workshop setting equipped for heavy-duty automotive work. This would involve specialized tools for welding, metal shaping, grinding, and potentially a dedicated area for vehicle assembly and painting. The nature of "fabrication" implies a hands-on, detail-oriented environment, often with various projects in different stages of completion. Given the history of the business, as mentioned in customer reviews, the shop likely possesses infrastructure suited for intricate and long-term restoration projects. However, the exact current state of the facility and its organization, particularly in light of internal issues, cannot be definitively stated without further information.
Based on the provided information, the services offered by Dave's Fabrication historically encompassed full vehicle completion and painting, particularly for classic cars like the 1965 Chevelle mentioned in a review. This indicates that their scope of work can extend to comprehensive restoration projects, which often involve significant bodywork, custom parts fabrication, engine and chassis work, and high-quality paint finishes. The positive review, though brief, suggests an ability to "handle all your automotive needs" and provide "fantastic work," implying a broad range of capabilities. This could include welding, custom part creation, and potentially engine or suspension modifications, typical of a fabrication shop handling diverse automotive projects. Historically, a business with "fabrication" in its name would imply custom metalwork, specialized welding, and the ability to build or modify components to exact specifications.
The features of Dave's Fabrication, as perceived by customers, are complex and contradictory. Historically, the business appears to have had a reputation for "fantastic work" and the ability to handle a wide array of "automotive needs." This aligns with the legacy built by the late owner. However, more recent and detailed customer feedback presents a stark contrast, highlighting significant concerns about the quality of work, communication, and overall professionalism. A key feature, as depicted in the detailed review, is the shop's undertaking of extensive restoration projects, such as the full completion and painting of a classic car.
However, the negative experiences describe severe issues, including a vehicle returned in "significantly worse condition" than when it was left, rendered "unrepairable." Specific complaints include unaddressed cracks, damaged and improperly installed components (e.g., sun visors, missing clothing hooks and airbag indicators), missing parts (e.g., roof plastic molding), and poor paint repair (e.g., bubbling paint). The lack of communication, follow-up, and responsiveness to inquiries is also a critical negative feature mentioned. Furthermore, the review highlights concerns about the attitude and conduct of certain individuals associated with the shop, particularly "Ryan Daves," described as "rude and unprofessional," and accusations of taking advantage of customer trust. The departure of a reported employee ("Marty Alsup") due to payment issues further points to internal operational challenges. This suggests a significant decline in the consistency and quality of service, potentially stemming from a change in management or adherence to the original owner's standards.
The complex ownership structure, with the late owner's son "Ryan Daves" operating the business while his mother, "Diana Daves," is the legal owner, also emerges as a notable feature. The mention of the mother's warning about the shop's financial state adds another layer to the perceived instability and potential mismanagement. These detailed negative features paint a picture of a business facing severe challenges in delivering on its commitments and maintaining professional standards, despite its historical reputation.
Regarding promotional information, no specific promotional offers, discounts, or special packages are provided in the available details. Given the nature of a fabrication and restoration shop, pricing for projects would typically be highly customized based on the scope of work, materials required, and labor hours. Such businesses rarely advertise fixed prices or widespread discounts. Instead, their "promotion" would historically rely on reputation, word-of-mouth, and the visible quality of completed projects. However, the recent negative review indicates a significant challenge to this traditional promotional model, as it directly impacts public perception and trust. For any potential customer considering services from Dave's Fabrication, direct contact via phone at (661) 861-9212 or +1 661-861-9212 would be necessary to discuss specific project needs, pricing, and to assess their current operational capabilities and commitment to quality.
In conclusion, Dave's Fabrication in Bakersfield, CA, is positioned as an "Auto Repair Station" specializing in automotive fabrication and restoration, particularly for classic vehicles. While a brief positive review suggests a capability for "fantastic work" and handling "all your automotive needs," a comprehensive and detailed negative review raises serious concerns about the quality of repairs, missing parts, poor communication, and unprofessional conduct under current operations. These contrasting perspectives illustrate a business that has experienced significant challenges, potentially impacting its ability to consistently deliver on its promises and maintain its historical standing. Prospective customers should approach with caution and conduct thorough due diligence, including direct communication and clear contractual agreements, if considering their services for significant automotive projects.

Dave's Fabrication Customer Reviews
On August 21, 2023, I brought my 1965 Chevelle to Dave's Fabrication with a verbal agreement with Ryan Daves (the son of the late owner) and Marty Alsup that the car would be fully completed and painted when I picked it up. A year later, I received my vehicle in significantly worse condition than when I left it. The car is now unrepairable, and despite paying a total of $45,614.93, I have nothing to show for it. Instead of a completed vehicle, I lost a year and ended up with an unrepairable Chevelle. To make matters worse, when I arrived to pick up the remaining parts, I found them left outside on a cart, and Ryan laughed in my face. I sent a formal letter to Ryan Daves and his mother, Diana Daves, the current legal owner of Dave's Fabrication, requesting a refund. I hand-delivered this letter along with all invoices and photos documenting my concerns. In response, Ryan sent his wife and daughter to deliver a letter to my residence, claiming that he "does good work" and dismissing my complaints as baseless. He insisted that his work "speaks for itself"--and in a way, I agree. The quality of work provided by Ryan Daves, his stepson Levi Garcia, and Marty Alsup is among the worst I've seen. If anyone is looking for a team to ruin their vehicle, overcharge them, bully them, and laugh at them, Ryan Daves and his team are exactly who they should hire. Though Ryan operates the business, he is not the owner; his late father was, and the shop now legally belongs to his mother, Diana. I was told that even she warned Ryan about the shop's financial state, advising him to close it if it ever required her personal funds. I now feel that Ryan and his team completely took advantage of my trust. Marty Alsup reportedly left because Ryan could no longer pay him under the table. It's sad to see how a reputable business, built through his father's hard work, has been tarnished by his son's actions. Not only does Ryan's poor work "speak for itself," but his attitude and conduct are among the rudest and most unprofessional I have ever encountered.
