Color Craft Autobody Introduce
Color Craft Autobody, operating as a specialized facility within the broader "Auto Repair Stations" category, focuses exclusively on auto body repair and painting. This establishment is dedicated to restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition, addressing cosmetic damage, and ensuring the structural integrity of the automobile. Located in Hobart, Indiana, Color Craft Autobody serves the local community by providing essential services for vehicles that have sustained damage from collisions, minor accidents, or general wear and tear.
The environment at Color Craft Autobody is geared towards precision and meticulous craftsmanship, typical of a professional auto body shop. While specific interior details of their facility may not be widely publicized, such establishments are generally characterized by dedicated work bays for various stages of repair, including a metal shop for structural repairs, a paint shop with specialized booths for painting and drying, and a detail area for final touches. The focus on autobody work implies a clean and organized workspace where vehicles are carefully managed throughout the repair process to prevent further damage and ensure a high-quality finish. The tools and equipment would include advanced diagnostic systems for assessing collision damage, specialized welding equipment for structural integrity, and state-of-the-art paint matching and application systems to achieve seamless results. The overall environment is one that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and the aesthetic restoration of damaged vehicles.
Color Craft Autobody offers a comprehensive range of services centered around collision repair and vehicle aesthetic restoration. Their core services include:
- Collision Repair: This is the primary service, addressing damage ranging from minor fender-benders to significant accident impacts. The process typically involves initial damage assessment, structural repair (straightening frames, replacing damaged panels), and alignment to ensure the vehicle's safety and performance are restored.
- Auto Painting and Refinishing: A critical aspect of body repair is achieving a perfect paint match. Color Craft Autobody employs techniques to match the original factory finish, covering everything from minor scratch repair and touch-ups to full vehicle repaints. This often involves computerized paint mixing and matching technology to ensure seamless integration with existing paintwork.
- Dent Removal: Beyond collision repair, they handle various forms of dent removal, which can include traditional methods involving panel beating and filling, or potentially paintless dent repair (PDR) for smaller, non-creased dents where the paint surface is intact.
- Bumper and Plastic Repair: Modern vehicles extensively use plastic components, especially for bumpers. Color Craft Autobody has the expertise to repair cracks, scuffs, and other damage to plastic parts, often avoiding costly replacements.
- Corrosion Protection: After collision repairs, ensuring proper corrosion protection is vital for the longevity of the repair. This involves applying protective coatings and sealers to exposed metal surfaces.
- Auto Detailing: Following major repairs or painting, a full detailing service ensures the vehicle is returned in pristine condition, both inside and out. This can include cleaning, polishing, and waxing the exterior, and thorough cleaning of the interior.
- Metal Shop Services: This involves working with the vehicle's metal framework and body panels, including cutting, welding, and shaping to restore the original form.
- Paint Finishing & Detail: The final stages of painting involve meticulous buffing, polishing, and detailing to achieve a showroom-quality finish, free of imperfections.
- Seam Sealers and Coatings: Proper application of these materials is crucial for waterproofing and protecting repaired areas, mimicking factory standards.
The features that distinguish Color Craft Autobody from other general auto repair stations lie in their specialization and commitment to quality in autobody work.
- Specialized Expertise: Their primary focus on collision repair and painting means they possess specialized knowledge, equipment, and techniques dedicated to restoring vehicle aesthetics and structural integrity. This is often more in-depth than what a general mechanical repair shop might offer.
- Quality Craftsmanship: The name "Color Craft" itself suggests a dedication to the art and skill involved in achieving perfect color matches and flawless finishes. This often translates to a high standard of workmanship.
- Advanced Technology: Reputable autobody shops like Color Craft Autobody typically invest in state-of-the-art equipment, including computerized paint matching systems, advanced welding tools, and proper ventilation for paint booths, ensuring precise and safe repairs.
- Customer-Focused Approach: While not explicitly stated, successful autobody shops often excel in customer service, assisting with insurance claims, providing transparent estimates, and keeping customers informed throughout the repair process. This reduces stress for customers involved in accidents.
- Restoration Focus: Unlike mechanical repairs that focus on functionality, autobody shops aim to restore the vehicle's visual appeal and structural safety to its pre-accident condition, which requires a distinct set of skills and expertise.
- Safety Standards: Ensuring the vehicle's safety features (like crumple zones and airbag deployment areas) are restored correctly after a collision is paramount. A professional autobody shop adheres to manufacturer specifications and industry safety standards in all repairs.
Regarding promotional information, Color Craft Autobody, like many specialized auto body shops, likely relies on its reputation for quality work and positive customer experiences. While specific, active promotional deals are not readily available online without direct inquiry, their core value proposition serves as a continuous form of promotion. This includes:
- Restoring Vehicle Value: By meticulously repairing collision damage and providing high-quality paintwork, Color Craft Autobody helps maintain or restore the resale value of a vehicle.
- Insurance Assistance: Many auto body shops work directly with insurance companies, streamlining the claims process for customers. This convenience can be a significant promotional factor.
- Customer Satisfaction: Positive word-of-mouth and testimonials from satisfied customers who have experienced excellent repair work and service are powerful promotional tools.
- Focus on Aesthetics and Safety: Promoting their ability to make a car look "as good as new" while ensuring its structural integrity and safety features are fully functional provides a strong appeal to car owners.
- Expertise in Paint Matching: For many, the ability to perfectly match the vehicle's original paint color is a key concern after an accident. Highlighting this skill is a strong promotional point for a business named "Color Craft."

Best paint and body shop in NW Indiana. Give Stephenie a call so Mike and his crew can work their magic on your daily vehicle or your hot rod. They did a killer job painting my fiberglass hood and blending the paint.

I would not recommend, they did not take care of my car at all! I get it takes time to fix body damage, but three weeks of having my car you would expect it to come back in great condition. Right off the bat they did not fix a piece and there was a horrendous smell inside my car. They agreed to order the part which was fine but upon further inspection they didn’t even take the time to clean all the dust from whatever they sanded, tried to hide that they broke a piece and everything didn’t align and just left my car broke! They again agreed to take care of it order the correct piece but why wasn’t that done in the first place. Then had the nerve to tell me I needed to take my car to the dealer because the keyless system wasn’t on there end. YES IT WAS!! They said it was just unplugged but it is literally broken. They plugged it back in to a broken piece. I am done and will tell everyone to stay clear of this business!!!

I had to have my car towed a few weeks back and unfortunately the tow truck couldn't unload the car without damaging the lip. I took a day off to go around and shop for prices and availability, that's when I met and spoke to the owner Mike Bates. During the estimation process he said the lips weren't available since the car is too old, but I could get an aftermarket one and put it on. No problem, I know the car is old and parts are hard to find. Feeling comfortable with his assessment and his quote, I ordered an aftermarket lip, brand new hardware kit, and brought the vehicle to the shop. I figured since the car was there, I would bring a spare door with too as the old one was tweaked years ago and would pay to have them fit and replace it. I dropped the car off on Setepmber 30th in the morning before work with the door, new lip, and hardware kit. The next day I received a phone call from the girl up front that they couldn't use the door or the lip. Shocked, I asked some basic questions, like what's wrong with it, and what my options were. She gave vague answers on the phone to the effect of "well we just can't" and "well it's no good". I asked to speak with Mike to get a more in-depth explanation and she gave me attitude and said "you dont need any other explanation because thats what he said". I was shocked and didn't see the issue with wanting someone to give their opinion 1st hand. Afterall, I do have to go back to the manufacturer of the part, and seller of the door and give them a reason on why I have to return them. I didn't feel this was unreasonable. She hung up on me while over-talking me. The same day, I picked up the car, parts, and Mike said if I can find an OEM lip, he would have no problem putting it on and painting it. I returned the aftermarket lip, thankfully found a guy in the middle of nowhere that still had a brand new oem lip, paid to have it shipped and it arrived today. 10/9/19 I called back at 10:00am, where the same woman answered the phone and I explained that I have the lip now and would like to schedule an appointment. She said, ok, no problem I'll call you back shortly to schedule you in. Fast-forward to 3:00pm today and I tried to call back, it went to voicemail after ringing for a minute. I had my mother call from a different number to see if my phone was screwy and they answered right away. The same woman answered the phone and she seemed caught off guard. I just asked if they had an opening yet, and she apologized that they were too busy today to return my phone call. I said no problem, just let me know the next day you have an opening. She told me in 2 weeks, but they would not fit the part to the car, only paint it. I asked why they don't feel comfortable doing that, she said "we just dont". Knowing they haven't seen the new part, I'm curious why they wouldn't feel comfortable so I just asked "why don't you feel comfortable, is it the part or?" and she rudely responded "we dont need a reason". I asked why she was being so rude and she hung up on me. I'm not sure what the deal with this place is, the outside looks nice, I seemingly thought the owner was a genuinely good guy but it seems their skill set is limited, and their people skills even more. I judge people by actions not looks. You can have the best exterior of any shop in the area, and have the worst actions, and those actions alone will define you and your business. I would recommend taking your classic cars elsewhere.
