Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair Introduce

Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair, situated at 601 W Plata St, Tucson, AZ 85705, USA, operates as a specialized "Auto Repair Stations" facility. Its primary focus is on providing repair and maintenance services specifically for Honda and Acura vehicles, catering to owners of these popular brands in the Tucson area. The business positions itself as an alternative to dealerships for specialized care for these vehicle makes.

Environment

The physical environment of Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair is that of a typical independent auto repair shop. Located on West Plata Street, it would consist of a garage area with multiple service bays equipped to handle various automotive repairs, and a reception or waiting area for customers. Based on typical independent shop setups, the environment would be functional, designed to facilitate efficient vehicle diagnostics and repairs. While specific details about the cleanliness or comfort of the waiting area are not universally provided, the business aims to convey a professional setting for specialized Honda and Acura service. However, one detailed customer review describes visiting the shop at various times (a non-holiday Thursday afternoon and a Monday noon) to find it a "Ghost Town nobody," suggesting that the shop's operational presence can be inconsistent or difficult to ascertain at certain times. This indicates that while the physical infrastructure exists, the consistent staffing and accessibility might vary.

Services

Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair specializes in providing a range of services tailored to Honda and Acura vehicles. While a comprehensive list of all services is not explicitly detailed, the nature of a specialized repair shop for these brands typically includes:

  • Electrical System Diagnostics and Repair: As highlighted in a customer review where the initial issue was an "undiagnosed electrical issue" related to the steering column.
  • Steering Column Repair/Replacement: Specific to the aforementioned electrical issue example.
  • General Automotive Repair: Addressing various mechanical issues common to Honda and Acura models.
  • Routine Maintenance: Likely includes services such as oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and tire services.
  • Brake Services: Inspection, repair, and replacement of brake components.
  • Engine Diagnostics: Troubleshooting check engine lights and performance issues.
  • Key Programming: A critical service, as one review mentions issues with keys no longer being programmed after a repair.

The specialization in Honda and Acura suggests that the technicians have specific knowledge and experience with the intricacies of these vehicles, which can be an advantage for owners seeking expertise beyond general mechanics.

Features

Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair exhibits several features, though customer experiences vary significantly, as evidenced by conflicting reviews.

  • Specialized Expertise for Honda & Acura: The primary feature is their focus on Honda and Acura vehicles. This specialization implies that their mechanics have in-depth knowledge of these specific makes, potentially leading to more accurate diagnostics and efficient repairs for common issues associated with these cars.
  • Personal Communication (as reported by some): One positive review highly praises the owner, Brad, for personally communicating throughout the repair process, even coming to the customer to pick up and drop off the car, saving towing fees. This level of personalized service can be a significant advantage for customers.
  • Convenience Services (as reported by some): The offer to pick up and drop off vehicles, and even provide transportation to appointments, demonstrates a commitment to customer convenience for some clients.
  • Competitive Pricing (as reported by some): A positive review states, "their pricing was also the best I found," indicating that they can offer competitive rates for their services.

However, it is crucial to present a balanced view by incorporating the significant negative feedback provided. One extensive negative review highlights severe concerns that directly contradict the positive features:

  • Abysmal Communication: The customer experienced extreme difficulty getting hold of Brad or anyone at the shop for days/weeks. This is a direct contradiction to the "personally communicated" feature from the positive review and indicates severe inconsistencies in communication.
  • Lack of Transparency and Estimates: The customer was not given an estimate or the option to choose between a used or new OEM part for a critical repair (steering column). This raises serious concerns about ethical business practices and informed consent.
  • Incomplete and Unfinished Work: After receiving the car back, numerous new issues arose (dashboard lights, ABS engaging, non-functional steering wheel buttons and lock button, improperly assembled cowling, and key programming issues). This indicates a lack of thoroughness in completing repairs and quality control.
  • Inconsistent Shop Presence: The review describes the shop as a "Ghost Town nobody" at various times, with the customer struggling to physically find anyone to retrieve their car, leading to thoughts of reporting the car stolen. This highlights a significant issue with operational reliability and accessibility.
  • Use of Used Parts Without Consent: The replacement of a steering column with a used part from a salvage yard without prior discussion or approval is a major red flag for many customers.
  • Extended Repair Times: The car was in the shop for "5 weeks or so" for a repair that was ultimately incomplete, indicating substantial delays.

These contrasting reviews suggest a highly inconsistent customer experience. While some clients may receive excellent, personalized service, others appear to face severe issues with communication, transparency, quality of work, and operational reliability. This disparity makes it challenging to definitively characterize the overall service quality without acknowledging both ends of the spectrum.

Promotional Information

Specific, time-limited promotional offers for Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair are not detailed in the provided information. Given the mixed reviews, it's unlikely they rely heavily on traditional promotional campaigns that promise a universally positive experience. However, the business likely promotes itself through its specialization and the promise of personalized service, as indicated by the positive review. Potential promotional approaches might include:

  • Word-of-Mouth (Mixed Impact): While some customers might refer others based on positive experiences, the significant negative feedback suggests that negative word-of-mouth could also be prevalent.
  • Specialization Focus: Advertising their expertise in Honda and Acura vehicles as a key differentiator.
  • Convenience Services: Highlighting services like vehicle pickup and drop-off (if consistently offered) as a value-added feature.
  • Competitive Pricing Claims: Emphasizing their ability to offer better pricing than dealerships for specialized service.

For anyone considering Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair, it would be prudent to directly contact them at (520) 622-7005 or +1 520-622-7005 to discuss their specific needs, request a detailed estimate, and clarify their service processes, including communication protocols and the use of parts. Given the conflicting reviews, careful due diligence is recommended before committing to services.

Civic Center Honda & Acura Auto Repair Customer Reviews

Do not waste your time with this shop. TL;DR: abysmal communication with a side of incomplete and unfinished work. I took my car in for a undiagnosed electrical issue which ended up being a problem with the steering column. After some number of days of not really hearing anything from the shop I finally was able to get a hold of Brad through one of the three phone numbers that the shop uses to find out that they replace the steering column with a used steering column from Pick-A-Part. I was never given an estimate nor given the option to choose a used part or a new OEM part. Once my car was "finished" and delivered to my house, the first time turning it on there immediately began to be numerous other issues that likely stemmed from the used steering column. Like I'm talking lights going on on the dash and one of the tires sounding like the ABS was engaging amongst other things. I immediately called the shop to have them take it back. Over the next 2 or 3 weeks I kept trying to call the shop and show up at the shop to figure out what the heck was going on with my car, but I never really got anybody. Eventually I got a hold of Brad and he told me that the car was done but that there was some issue with the keys no longer being programmed to the car, even though they worked to drive it. I went there at 2:00 p.m. on (The next day) a non-holiday Thursday and noon on a Monday and there was nobody at the shop. Like Ghost Town nobody. I was about ready to just report my car stolen and let the police deal with it, when I happened to swing by the shop and finally found one mechanic there. He had to call Brad so I could get my car out of the bay because I was not leaving it there anymore. Even after my car hung out in the shop for 5 weeks or so, the repair that was made was incomplete, the cowling around the steering column was not put back together correctly and none of the buttons on the steering wheel worked, neither did the indoor lock button. And that's on top of all three of my keys no longer being programmed for the keyless locking and unlocking. Seriously do not waste your time at this shop. Literally go just about anywhere else that you can find. Even a dealership. This place must have been great not a number of years ago, but something happened within the past five or so that changed this shop. This might be my first one star rating that I've done in my years of Google reviews. But this one as well deserved.

I couldn’t be more impressed with a company than Civic Honda!!! I have the worst luck with cars and have been to so many different shops! This is the best around! Brad, the owner, personally communicated with me throughout. And him and his worker are just amazing! They came to me to get the car and saved me a tow fee. And they brought it back to me. Even offered to take me to appointment if I needed while they had my car. My car runs better now than ever! And their pricing was also the best I found! So all I can say, don’t go anywhere else! Go to these amazing people!!! Thank you Brad and staff!!

First to know the Civic Center is in service to others - and that is what I primarily seek when I’m looking for a good mechanic(vs service to self) Excellent work, done by an old race car driver! Good rates, and even picked me up. Tell him the Yes and No Boys sent you!

I've had a few repairs done here, minor and major. Perfectly happy with the work done on my Acura- one of the relatively difficult to work on models. Brad seems very honest and helpful, has shown me that the work was done every time, and on the latest when an unexpected issue arose they made it right and resolved the problem! The shop is a little out of the way nestled off of Oracle but absolutely give them a shot! They do good work for a good price.

Brad is absolutely amazing! The service advisor at Chapman Honda tried to tell me that I needed a new motor. I called Brad for a second opinion not knowing him at all. He told me something didn’t sound right about what the service advisor told me. I brought my truck to Brad and lo and behold there was nothing wrong with the motor and Brad work diligently day night and kept me updated on the progress and was able to fix what the service advisors screwed up. It turned out that my radiator hoses were on backwards. He fixed everything and even delivered my truck to me! I would recommend him to anybody anytime!
