Caliber Collision centers are primarily focused on restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition, offering a comprehensive range of services tailored to collision damage. These services generally include:

  • Auto Body Repair: From minor dents and scratches to extensive structural damage, technicians utilize specialized equipment and techniques to repair and replace body panels, frames, and other vehicle components.
  • Vehicle Painting: Utilizing advanced paint-matching technology and techniques to ensure a seamless blend with the vehicle's original finish, restoring its aesthetic appeal after repairs.
  • Paintless Dent Repair (PDR): A specialized method for removing small dents and dings without affecting the original paint, often used for hail damage or minor impacts.
  • Auto Glass Repair and Replacement: Addressing damage to windshields, side windows, and rear glass. This also includes the crucial calibration of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), which are common in modern vehicles and need recalibration after glass replacement to ensure safety features like lane keeping and automatic emergency braking function correctly.
  • Frame Straightening: Using precision equipment to bring a vehicle's frame back to manufacturer specifications after being compromised in a collision.
  • Mechanical Repairs Related to Collision: While primarily a body shop, Caliber Collision also addresses mechanical issues that result directly from a collision, such as suspension damage, steering system issues, or, as indicated by a customer review, damage to components like oil pans.
  • Quality Assurance: After repairs are completed, vehicles typically undergo rigorous quality control inspections to ensure all work meets safety and performance standards.

Caliber Collision often works directly with major insurance companies, aiming to streamline the claims and repair process for customers, which can be a significant convenience during a stressful time.

The environment at a Caliber Collision center is typically designed to be professional, clean, and customer-centric. As a large chain, Caliber aims for a consistent experience across its locations, which usually includes a well-maintained waiting area, clear communication channels, and organized administrative processes for handling insurance claims and repair updates. While specific details about the Indian Land location's physical amenities are not provided in the reviews, the overall brand standard suggests a focus on creating a comfortable and efficient experience for customers dropping off and picking up their vehicles. The workshop area, though not visible to customers, is expected to be equipped with modern tools and follow industry best practices for safety and efficiency in collision repair.

The features of Caliber Collision, as illustrated by the provided customer feedback, present a dichotomy of experiences. On one hand, there is a positive review highlighting "Excellent service and top of the line craftsmanship with competitive pricing." This customer, whose car "looks better than new now," specifically praised "Kelsey and Josh" for taking good care of them and their vehicle. This positive feedback suggests that when the service aligns with expectations, Caliber Collision can deliver high-quality results and a commendable customer experience, including professional interaction and competitive pricing.

However, another review for this specific location raises significant concerns and points to critical features that may need improvement. This customer's experience suggests potential issues with:

  • Diagnostic Competence and Honesty: The most serious concern is the claim that the shop "totaled the car when it didn’t need to be," stating the engine was totaled due to an oil pan issue, only for another individual to fix the vehicle for under $5,000 without an engine replacement. This raises questions about the diagnostic accuracy and potentially the integrity of the total loss assessment by Caliber Collision.
  • Data Privacy/Security: The customer reported that Caliber "left my info on a receipt in the vehicle" which was then acquired by a "random guy" who bought the salvaged car. This alleged breach of personal information (phone number, address) is a severe privacy concern and a significant lapse in professional conduct.
  • Customer Service Responsiveness: The customer's update notes a lack of response after attempting to contact management via email, despite Caliber's public reply requesting them to do so. This indicates a potential gap in their follow-up and issue resolution process.

These contrasting reviews highlight that while some customers have excellent experiences, others encounter significant issues, particularly concerning the accuracy of repairs, data handling, and post-service accountability. The negative feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in the quality of work or ethical practices at this specific location, which are critical considerations for prospective customers.

In terms of promotional information, Caliber Collision, as a national brand, typically employs various strategies to attract and retain customers, even if specific offers for the Indian Land location aren't explicitly detailed in the provided data. These general promotional approaches often include:

  • Free Estimates: Caliber Collision universally offers free initial repair estimates, allowing customers to understand the scope and cost of repairs without commitment.
  • Nationwide Lifetime Warranty: A significant promotional feature is their limited lifetime warranty on repairs, which is valid at any Caliber location across the country. This provides substantial peace of mind regarding the longevity and quality of the work.
  • Insurance Company Relationships: Their extensive network and direct billing relationships with many major insurance carriers simplify the claims process for customers, often marketed as a stress-free experience.
  • Online Communication and Updates: Caliber often promotes its ability to keep customers informed throughout the repair process via text, email, or online portals, emphasizing transparency and convenience.
  • Commitment to Safety: The brand often highlights its I-CAR certifications and use of OE (Original Equipment) parts and repair procedures to ensure vehicle safety, which serves as a powerful promotional message for customers concerned about vehicle integrity after an accident.
  • Community Involvement: Caliber often participates in programs like the National Auto Body Council's (NABC) Recycled Rides, where they restore and donate vehicles to deserving individuals or families, which generates positive public relations.

For local users in Indian Land considering Caliber Collision for their vehicle's repair, it is crucial to balance the positive testimonials about craftsmanship and service with the serious concerns raised by other customers regarding diagnostic integrity, data privacy, and post-service follow-up. It would be prudent to thoroughly discuss the diagnosis and repair plan, inquire about their data handling policies, and consider obtaining multiple estimates, especially for significant damage. A comprehensive inspection of the repaired vehicle upon pickup is also highly advisable to ensure all work meets expectations and is free from any residual issues or oversights.

Caliber Collision Customer Reviews

This Caliber collision either has incompetent mechanics or they are scamming people. I brought my Volkswagen GTI here after I hit a mailbox while dodging a deer that ran into the road. Unfortunately the mailbox was steel and ripped off my oil pan and did some body damage I took it here thinking they could replace the oil pan and body parts and they told me the engine was totaled. Didn’t see how that was possible considering I turned the car off immediately after this happened. Months later I get a text from some random guy near Florence asking me about the car saying he just bought it and was gonna repair it. I asked how he even got my number and he said caliber left my info on a receipt in the vehicle. This receipt had everything from my phone number to my address. This guy told me he fixed the GTI for less than $5000 without replacing the engine. So not only did they give out my contact to a stranger, they totaled the car when it didn’t need to be. Insurance did give me a nice payout surprisingly but this was a lot of stress since I was in the process of buying a house and now I had to buy a new car. If you got mechanical issues take it somewhere else. Unless they have changed their mechanics they are either scammers selling off parts and cars that they claim are totaled when they are not or they are idiots. Either scenario is not good at all for a collision center UPDATE: 3/29/25 in reference to the reply that they made below to email their manager…I emailed them as soon as they left that comment and they have yet to respond. Take your vehicle somewhere else to spare yourself the agony of dealing with these folks

Manager Josh and Travis (who buffed my bumper) did a tremendous customer service job with me vehicle. Was quick and very affordable. Very large shop, and their work is great! Highly recommended. Right behind the KFC in Indian Land.

Caliber Collision in Indian Land, SC, is one of the most competent and efficient businesses I have had the pleasure of working with. Ryan H. is a superstar! We need more professionals in the world like him. Ryan explained the repair process to me, answered my questions and kept me updated almost daily by either text, email or phone call. His strong and effective communication throughout the process was one of the main drivers contributing to the excellent customer service I experienced. The front office staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and collaborative team players. They worked seamlessly with the insurance company on the claim, and even made the arrangements for pick-up and drop-off of a rental car while mine was being repaired. Last, but certainly not least, my car looked brand new when returned to me. The workmanship was excellent. This business is a 10/10 in all aspects. I highly recommend!

I would have praised this store until i went to pickup my car back. It had multiple scratches, dirty seats. It sat in their parking lot for 6 days. I took the pictures right in their parking lot at pickup and shared with manager who helped me and in return he said it could have happened at a home depot. Idk what else to say. I take good care of my car and know every scratch it has. Very disappointed as initial issue was fixed and got my car back with scratches. Update: Reached out to corporate email posted in the response to my review. They asked for location details and thats it. No response after that. No accountability from them either.
