C & P Machine Introduce

For decades, C & P Machine has stood as a cornerstone of the automotive and industrial community in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Located at 445 Council Dr, Fort Wayne, IN 46825, USA, this establishment is not just an auto parts store; it is a highly specialized and comprehensive machine shop operating within the broader category of "Auto Repair Stations" by providing critical services and goods essential for engine rebuilding and specialized vehicle maintenance. With a rich history dating back to 1940, C & P Machine has evolved into one of the largest automotive machine shops and engine parts warehouses in the Fort Wayne area, a testament to its enduring quality and commitment to precision.

The environment at C & P Machine is characterized by a blend of state-of-the-art machinery and seasoned expertise. While specific details about the showroom or customer waiting areas are not provided, the nature of their services implies a professional and well-equipped facility. The company prides itself on having "the most modern equipment available" in its cylinder and block remanufacturing area, including Kwik-way vertical boring mills and Sunnen automatic cylinder hones, guaranteeing accuracy to "tenths of thousandths." This emphasis on precision tooling reflects an environment dedicated to high-quality output. The fact that their crankshaft grinding department is described as the "largest of its type in the Midwest" further solidifies their significant investment in specialized equipment and capacity, indicating a robust industrial setting capable of handling substantial workload.

The services offered by C & P Machine go far beyond that of a typical auto parts store. They are a full-service machine shop specializing in engine components and precision machining. Their comprehensive list of services includes:

  • Align Bore & Balancing: Utilizing a Berco Align Boring machine, they perform align boring for a wide variety of applications, including diesel, industrial, agricultural, passenger car, and performance engines.
  • Connecting Rods & Pistons: Their rod department, equipped with Sunnen rod honing machines and Kwik Way rod boring machines, can check, resize, install, and fit wrist-pin bushings for engines ranging from small to heavy-duty diesel.
  • Crankshaft Grinding: As noted, this is their largest department in the Midwest, capable of handling extensive crankshaft grinding needs.
  • Cylinder Boring Department: With advanced boring mills and honing machines, they perform cylinder and block remanufacturing, capable of handling everything from small engine cylinders to heavy-duty industrial ones. This includes repair sleeve installation, counterbore insert installation, crack detection and repair, resurfacing, and torque plate boring.
  • Cylinder Head Department: This vital department handles a wide range of services for cylinder heads, including valve jobs, crack detection, leak detection, crack repair, injector tube replacement, valve seat replacement, valve guide replacement, head resurfacing (exhaust and intake), and broken bolt removal. They cater to industrial, agricultural, marine, antique, small engine, and performance work.

Beyond these specialized machining services, C & P Machine also functions as a large automotive engine parts warehouse. This means that in addition to performing the highly technical work of engine component repair and rebuilding, they also stock and sell the necessary parts, making them a one-stop-shop for customers undertaking engine projects. This integrated approach saves customers time and ensures compatibility between the machined components and the parts used for assembly.

A key feature of C & P Machine, frequently highlighted in customer reviews, is their unwavering commitment to high-quality work and attention to detail. Customers like "Bob" rave about the "great machine shop" and the excellent results, such as a Suzuki GS1100 cylinder block that was bored and honed perfectly, leading to a significant performance improvement. The successful work on "heads from Briggs and Stratton 18 HP for mower" further showcases their versatility and meticulous approach, regardless of engine size or application. This attention to detail is paramount in precision machining, where even minute inaccuracies can lead to significant performance issues or engine failure. The "very personal help" mentioned by Bob also underscores a strong customer service ethic, where staff are not just technicians but also helpful advisors. This personalized assistance ensures that clients receive not only top-tier technical work but also clear communication and guidance throughout the process.

Promotional information for C & P Machine primarily stems from its long-standing reputation and positive customer experiences. The reviews act as powerful testimonials, with customers unequivocally stating, "I will not go anywhere else!!" Such strong endorsements are invaluable in the automotive service industry. While specific short-term sales or discounts are not mentioned, the inherent value proposition of C & P Machine lies in its ability to provide specialized, high-quality, and often hard-to-find services that can extend the life and improve the performance of engines. Their extensive history, having continually expanded since 1940 with new equipment and skilled employees, demonstrates a sustained commitment to meeting market demands and evolving automotive technologies. The growth into a large engine parts warehouse further enhances their competitive edge, offering convenience and a comprehensive solution to their clientele. Their hours of operation, typically Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with an extended Wednesday closing at 8:00 PM), indicate a dedicated availability for their customers. The company's longevity and repeated expansions speak to its success and the trust it has garnered within the community, making it a reliable choice for anyone needing specialized engine machining or automotive engine parts in Fort Wayne.

I took my old honda motor into them to have it bored out and have the cylinder head looked at and they did a very nice job and took care of the issues. Alex and the crew are great, and do a very good work. Definitely will recommend and be back in the future!

I have to say I highly, highly recommend them, They have very knowledgeable staff. Phil at the service dept. is very helpful, and will make sure you are satisfied. Overall I am highly pleased with their work. And even though they cost a bit More they sure have the experience and quality to back up their prices. I’ve worked with many machine shops in central Indiana, and By far they do way better work, and are more knowledgeable then any machine shop around here. Defiantly worth the drive. I highly recommend them.
