I have a Fiat 500--A/C was out. Brake Masters tech looked at it, confirmed compressor wasn't working, wanted $240 to further diagnose, and sadly shook his head and sighed, basically saying "Oh this could be a big BIG problem. Get a Corolla next time." Took it to Buddy's, first time customer. AJ rolled in, within five minutes had my car in the bay, looked under the hood, said "I think I see what's wrong," spliced a wire, confirmed the A/C was working correctly with a handy temp instrument, and REFUSED TO TAKE ANY MONEY. I'd been ready to buy a new car, thinking the A/C would take thousands of bucks to fix. Instead I was on my way within half an hour with working A/C (kind of essential in a Tucson summer), with my faith in humanity at an all-time high, and with the knowledge that I now have a trustworthy, fair, incredibly competent mechanic. Can't thank the Buddy's staff and shop enough. Huge gift. (I forgot to say I'm a woman, in fact an "older" woman, for whatever that's worth, just on the off chance an unscrupulous shop might try to take advantage). Merry Christmas. Best AC diagnostic you can ask for. John had me in and out with a solution FREE of Charge. He is very honest and knows his stuff. Thank you John, I’ll see you for my next car issue! Update: The car has freeezing cold AC now. After I switched the fuse box and still had issues I found a broken wire hidden inside the sleeve. Right next to where John pointed out where the wire was not getting power. Im so glad he helped me because Hyndai wanted to put in a new compressor over a sub $1 fix

Appointments not are accepted. I showed up before opening on a Saturday morning. I waited more than a half hour past opening time in line behind a young couple who were returning their vehicle because their AC stopped working after Buddy's "repaired" it. I decided to cut my losses and took my car to another shop that morning. All's well that ends well. Update reply to John: Check your messages. Saturday, September 21, 2024. If you don't open your shop on time and waste a walk-in customer's time, you get a one star review. That's the way it works.

First off, I’d like to say John is a top notch mechanic. For the most part anyways. I started doing business with him in 2020 And even though he was a pain in the butt when it comes to getting into his shop (he is a busy guy), I would try to work around his schedule. Anytime after 2 pm. He did a good job for me. Until recently. I had him fix an emissions problem for me on my wife’s rig.. The part he installed failed 6 months later. I was on the road at the time and just went ahead and replaced the part myself. When I got back to town and had some time after 2pm to get back, he shrugged it off and that was that. Even though the part was “under warranty”. I was only out $25.00, so no big deal. I have what I call my “Click and Clack” vehicle. My beater. It had some transmission problems. I left it with him to diagnose. He called me back and stated it needed a new filter and I agreed to have him replace the filter. When I picked it up, he mentioned that it was really low on fluid. I asked him if he had fixed the issue and he assured me he had. The transmission used a lot from that time on. I don’t drive it much so it wasn’t like I was without a vehicle. I finally found time, after 2 pm, to take it back to him. That was when I saw his temper. We got into an argument and he lost it. Was yelling at me about something that wasn’t relevant to the issue at hand. He told me he no longer wanted my beater in his shop. Then he kind of settled down, but at the time I lost my trust in his judgement and decided every mechanic has a shelf life. Apparently he had hit his. I know he reads his reviews, so that is why I write this one. I’m sure he doesn’t need my business, like I said he is always busy. But he’s not the only mechanic in Tucson, so I guess it goes both ways. In my opinion he should be ashamed, but judging by his customer service, I’m guessing he has little or no shame. For that alone, I would no longer recommend him.
