Boost Lab, Inc. Introduce
For automotive enthusiasts and those seeking specialized performance parts and services in the Tampa, FL area, Boost Lab, Inc. is a notable establishment. Located at 8602 Temple Terrace Hwy Unit D12, Tampa, FL 33637, USA, this business operates as an "Auto Repair Station" with a distinct focus on turbochargers and related performance components. They can be reached via phone at (813) 443-0531 or mobile at +1 813-443-0531. Founded in 2007, Boost Lab, Inc. has established itself as a manufacturer and service provider within the automotive aftermarket, particularly catering to vehicles with forced induction systems.
Boost Lab, Inc. is situated on Temple Terrace Highway, a commercial and industrial stretch that offers relatively easy access for customers. Being in a unit (D12) suggests they are part of a larger commercial or industrial complex, which is typical for specialized automotive shops. The environment would likely be geared towards functionality, with a workshop area for turbocharger assembly, repair, and perhaps a small showroom or counter for customer interaction and parts display. Given the nature of their business, which involves precision components, the shop would be expected to maintain a clean and organized workspace. While there isn't specific information detailing a luxurious waiting area, the emphasis would be on the technical expertise and the quality of the parts and services provided. Their location in Tampa allows them to serve a wide range of customers across the metropolitan area, including those interested in performance upgrades and racing applications.
Boost Lab, Inc. positions itself as a premier turbocharger and fuel injection specialist. Their core business revolves around the sale, service, and manufacturing of turbochargers. As an "Auto Repair Station" in this specialized niche, their services go beyond simple retail, extending into complex technical work. Their primary offerings include:
- Turbocharger Sales: They offer a wide range of turbochargers, including their own "Boost Lab" brand turbochargers (e.g., BL5757, BL66X), as well as products from other well-known manufacturers like Precision, BorgWarner, and Turbonetics. Their inventory includes application-specific turbos, class-specific turbos, and various generations of turbochargers.
- Turbocharger Servicing and Rebuilds: Boost Lab, Inc. provides comprehensive turbocharger repair and rebuilding services. This includes rebuilding journal bearing and ball bearing turbochargers for various applications, from everyday commuters to race cars, diesel trucks, and even construction and agricultural equipment. They use quality materials for rebuild kits and offer machining services for upgrading compressor and turbine wheels.
- Custom Turbo Solutions: They offer tailored solutions for specific applications, suggesting a capability to provide custom-built or modified turbochargers to meet unique performance goals. This can include specialized coatings for turbine housings.
- Fuel System Services: Beyond turbos, they also offer fuel injector services, which are critical for optimal engine performance, especially in boosted applications.
- Performance and Racing Parts: In addition to turbochargers, they sell other performance and racing parts that complement forced induction systems, such as BL 2JZ parts, gaskets, and sensors.
A notable feature is that Boost Lab, Inc. assembles and VSR (Variable Speed Rotation) balances their own branded turbochargers in-house in Tampa, FL, aiming to ensure top-tier performance and durability for their products. They also emphasize having over 35 years of turbocharger knowledge within their team, allowing them to provide expert advice and support to customers.
Boost Lab, Inc. highlights features such as in-house assembly and balancing, extensive product knowledge, and a commitment to providing high-performance solutions. Their products typically come with an industry-standard 1-year unlimited mileage warranty, providing a level of assurance to customers. They also emphasize their expertise in diagnosing and addressing turbo-related issues.
However, customer experiences with Boost Lab, Inc. appear to be polarized. One detailed review describes a highly negative, prolonged experience concerning a turbocharger that consistently burned oil after purchase and subsequent rebuilds. This customer reported being given various, ultimately ineffective, diagnoses and solutions over a three-year period, leading to significant financial and time investment without resolution. The review also criticizes the professionalism of a staff member named "Ryan" and the owner "Kirk," describing them as pretentious, defensive, and unprofessional, leading to a lack of trust and ultimately, no resolution for the faulty product. This highlights potential issues with diagnostic accuracy, customer service, and accountability for product performance.
Conversely, another review offers a starkly different perspective, praising the professionalism and knowledge of Ryan and owner Kirk. This customer, a female who found navigating auto shops intimidating, felt comfortable and respected at Boost Lab, Inc. The owner, Kirk, is specifically lauded for his patience, clear explanations, and extensive knowledge about turbos, reassuring the customer about the quality of the products. This review suggests a positive and supportive environment for some customers, particularly those who might feel less knowledgeable about specialized automotive components.
This dichotomy in reviews indicates that while Boost Lab, Inc. possesses significant technical expertise and offers high-quality products (as perceived by some), there might be inconsistencies in customer service delivery and problem resolution, particularly when complex or persistent issues arise. The business's ability to handle prolonged technical disputes and maintain consistent customer satisfaction seems to be a point of contention.
Boost Lab, Inc. frequently promotes its own branded turbochargers and the expertise of its team. Their website often features top sellers, new products, and potentially "moving sale" discounts on select items, indicating a dynamic inventory and promotional activities. They aim to provide performance upgrades and reliable turbocharger solutions. For those considering Boost Lab, Inc., the following advice is prudent:
- Do Your Research: Given the specialized nature of turbos and the mixed customer feedback, it's essential to clearly define your needs and research specific product models.
- Communicate Clearly: When discussing your requirements or any issues, ensure clear and detailed communication. Document all conversations, diagnoses, and proposed solutions, especially for complex or recurring problems.
- Inquire About Warranties and Policies: Understand their 1-year warranty coverage and any specific return or resolution policies, particularly for rebuilt items or products that may exhibit issues after installation.
- Seek Multiple Opinions for Diagnostics: If facing persistent issues, as described in one review, consider obtaining a second opinion from another reputable performance shop or turbo specialist to cross-reference diagnoses.
- Manage Expectations: While Boost Lab aims to deliver high performance, customers should be aware of the potential for complex issues that may require extensive troubleshooting.
- Consider Alternatives: For critical or high-stakes projects, exploring options from other established turbocharger brands (like Precision, as suggested by one reviewer) or other reputable local specialists might be beneficial.
Ultimately, Boost Lab, Inc. caters to a specific segment of the automotive market. Their technical prowess in turbochargers is evident, but potential customers should approach with a clear understanding of their needs and be prepared for potential variations in customer service experience based on the nature of the issue and the individuals they interact with.

Boost Lab, Inc. Customer Reviews
I really wanted to like these guys… I purchased a 5858 turbo over three years ago. Once installed, the turbo started burning oil. I took it back to them with less than 50 miles on it originally, and I was told that my mechanic might not know what he was doing. So, I fired my mechanic and decided to do everything myself. At this point, I was also told that the turbo had to be rebuilt due to the seals going bad. No problem—I paid for the rebuild. Got the turbo back, and it still burned oil. I was told to fix the oil drain—done! Installed a new oil pan and a new drain line—done! I was asked to change all the fittings—done! And yet, it was still burning oil. Over two years passed. I own a business, so deciding to handle everything myself has been time-consuming—I wanted to make sure it was done right. Still trusting “Ryan,” I was told that my oil pressure was too high. I purchased a reducer, and you guessed it—still burning oil. Called back and was told I needed an oil pressure regulator. I purchased two different regulators, and the turbo still burned oil. Now, three years have gone by. I called Ryan and explained that I followed every step they told me to, but the turbo still burns oil. He asked me to bring it in, assuring me they would fix it—no problem, per Ryan. At this point, the turbo had less than 20 miles on the rebuild. I live over an hour away but took the turbo in personally. Two weeks passed—no response. I finally called and was pushed to voicemail. Ryan called back and acted like he didn’t know who I was, only to suddenly remember me. He never called or left a voicemail, and when I pointed that out, he got defensive. Ryan is a very pretentious person who really shouldn’t be working with the general public. As a business owner myself, I can confidently say that having someone like Ryan as the face of a company is a guaranteed way to lose a substantial amount of business. Long story short—he’s just not professional. Now, after three years, I’m being told that there is excessive scoring and that I must have sand in my oil. HOLY COW—HOW COMICAL. It took them three years to come up with this?!? I even offered to bring the car in to prove that their claims were completely ridiculous. This claim is impossible—the car runs perfectly, and everything is brand new. I am extremely meticulous with my vehicles. Instead of making an effort to help, Ryan simply wanted to tell me how wrong I was. After arguing with me, he placed me on hold and transferred me to the owner. Unfortunately, the experience was no better. I now understand why Ryan works there—his boss (the owner) is just as defensive and condescending. I should have seen the red flags from the beginning. After spending well over $2,000 and wasting an absurd amount of time, BoostLab has provided no resolution. In fact, their lack of professionalism and disregard for others’ time is the reason for this review. I truly hope this message reaches the right people so you don’t waste your time and money with this shop. Save yourself the headache and just buy a Precision turbo. Godspeed.

I used to own a 2017 Subaru STI And I received a turbo through Boost Lab. As a female, it can be quite intimidating to go into any type of auto shop, but since I lived close, I wanted to go personally to pick up my turbo. I met Ryan and the owner Kirk, who are both very kind and smart people. I am not someone who has a lot of knowledge about turbos, but Kirk was patient and answered all of my questions with ease. It was a breath of fresh air to walk into the shop and not feel like I was judged. If you’re looking for a turbo shop, that is the best of its kind, you will not be disappointed with Boost Lab. Kirk is one of a kind with his knowledge and attention to detail, and any product that you get through his company, you know it will be top of the line!

Ordered a new turbo, and they reached out to me asking questions and making sure everything was correct and would fit, turns out I ordered the wrong turbo. The worker Ryan was an awesome guy to talk to and made everything correct.

10/10 best experience I’ve ever had with a company. From when they received my turbos to when they sent them out I received constant contact and photos of the process. Not to mention the turn around time was WAY faster than I expected it to be. Very very highly recommend them for any turbo needs. Before and after pictures for reference of the condition

Stay away from this company, if you ever need to return a product!!! They will give you only excuses and you'll have a bad day. Purchased a brand new Garrett T3 .83 A/R Turbine Housing for GTX35. Although the product is listed as brand new, the shipped product came with signs of usage, including the v-band outlet surface with a chip/punch, many scratches in many different spots, not to mention the box with tapes. This is not acceptable. Contacted BoostLab customer service, and sent pictures explaining that I would like to return the product and requested RMA form for refund. Spoke with BoostLab agent over the phone, and even exchange a number of emails with the owner, which consistently gave a number of excuses and, not approving the return/refund. This is against their refund policy in their company website portal, not in compliance as my purchase meets the requirements for return/refund.
