Bob Thomas Ford Service Introduce

For Ford and Lincoln owners in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the surrounding communities, Bob Thomas Ford Service provides a dedicated and comprehensive solution for all their vehicle maintenance and repair needs. Operating under the umbrella of "Auto Repair Stations," this service department offers a full spectrum of services and genuine parts for sale, ensuring that vehicles receive expert care directly from an authorized dealership. Conveniently located at 310 Coliseum Blvd W, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, it is easily accessible for residents across the city.

The environment at Bob Thomas Ford Service is designed for both efficiency and customer comfort, reflecting modern dealership standards. Customers are directed to "drive around the right side of the building... pull up to the garage door, honk your horn, and drive in to the service desk." This innovative drive-in service desk means customers don't have to brave the elements, a significant convenience, especially during inclement weather. Inside, while the customer waiting lounge might not boast an extensive array of snacks like some other dealerships, it does offer a "small Keurig pot with complimentary coffee, decaf, and green tea pods," providing basic but appreciated amenities. The service bays themselves are equipped with the latest diagnostic and repair technology, specifically calibrated for Ford and Lincoln vehicles, ensuring precise and effective service.

The services provided by Bob Thomas Ford Service are extensive, covering everything from routine maintenance to complex, specialized repairs. Their team consists of factory-trained technicians who possess in-depth knowledge of Ford and Lincoln vehicles, guaranteeing that all work adheres to manufacturer specifications and standards. Key services include:

  • Routine Maintenance: This covers all essential services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, fluid checks, and comprehensive multi-point inspections vital for vehicle longevity and performance.
  • Advanced Diagnostics and Repair: With state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, they can accurately pinpoint and resolve intricate mechanical and electrical issues, including those related to engine performance, transmission, and onboard computer systems.
  • Brake and Tire Services: Full-service brake repair and replacement, as well as tire sales, mounting, balancing, and alignment, are standard offerings.
  • Specialized EV & Hybrid Battery Service: A significant feature highlighted by a customer is that Bob Thomas Ford is "the only Ford/Lincoln dealer in the area that has the diagnostic & charging capabilities for the big batteries that all electric & hybrids use." This makes them a crucial resource for owners of Ford's growing lineup of electric and hybrid vehicles, ensuring specialized care that many independent shops cannot provide.
  • Genuine Ford & Lincoln Parts: They exclusively use genuine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Ford and Lincoln parts for all repairs. This commitment to authentic parts ensures perfect fit, optimal performance, and often comes with a manufacturer's warranty, offering peace of mind to vehicle owners.
  • Recall and Warranty Work: As an authorized dealership, they are fully equipped and authorized to perform all factory recalls and warranty repairs on Ford and Lincoln vehicles, ensuring that covered issues are addressed correctly and efficiently.

A notable feature of Bob Thomas Ford Service is their emphasis on customer convenience and communication strategies. They leverage technology by texting customers when their car is ready, a modern approach that avoids noisy public address systems and provides a discreet notification. They also offer a "complimentary shuttle to take you to the office or home, and will pick you up and bring you back to get your vehicle," which is a highly valued service for customers whose vehicles require extended service time. The staff are described as "Friendly and knowledgeable," indicating a commitment to professional and courteous interactions.

However, communication, particularly concerning diagnostic findings and repair recommendations, appears to be an area where customers should be proactive. One detailed review highlights a "horrible communication" experience, where a customer felt they were "milked for money" for a service that ultimately might have been simpler or unnecessary. This specific instance involved a SYNC system issue where an expensive diagnostic and attempted upgrade was performed, only for the problem to potentially be resolved by a simple battery disconnect/reconnect—a factory reset that the customer had been trying to achieve. This feedback underscores the importance of customers asking "LOTS of questions" and ensuring they "understand what they are doing and why" before authorizing work. It also suggests that while the staff are knowledgeable, clear and upfront communication about all potential solutions and their associated costs is crucial to prevent customer frustration.

While explicit promotional information is not provided in the given reviews, authorized dealership service centers like Bob Thomas Ford Service frequently offer service specials and promotions. These can include discounted rates on routine maintenance packages, seasonal service campaigns (e.g., pre-winter checks, summer AC service), special pricing on tires, or financing options for larger repairs. Customers are always encouraged to visit the Bob Thomas Ford website or call their service department directly at (260) 482-4456 or +1 260-482-4456 to inquire about current promotions or to schedule an appointment. Their commitment to providing "honest upfront prices" is also mentioned, suggesting a general effort to be transparent about costs, although the customer review indicates that clarity on alternative, simpler fixes might sometimes be lacking.

In conclusion, Bob Thomas Ford Service serves as a comprehensive "Auto Repair Station" for Ford and Lincoln vehicles in Fort Wayne. They offer a modern facility, a wide array of specialized services including critical EV and hybrid battery capabilities, and value customer convenience through services like their drive-in reception and complimentary shuttle. While their "top notch" service and friendly staff are often praised, potential customers are advised to engage actively in discussions about diagnostics and recommended repairs to ensure full clarity and understanding of the proposed solutions and costs. This proactive approach can help ensure a positive and transparent service experience.

Bob Thomas Ford Service Customer Reviews

Service here is top notch. Drive around the right side of the building that is just across the street from Arbys, pull up to the garage door, honk your horn, and drive in to the service desk. No getting out of the car to go inside, while it is raining. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They will text you when your car is ready, rather than yelling over the speaker that everyone in the parking lot and lounge and Coliseum Blvd. can hear. They also try to give you honest upfront prices. They also have a complimentary shuttle to take you to the office or home, and will pick you up and bring you back to get your vehicle. Bob Thomas happens to be the only FordLincoln dealer in the area that has the diagnostic & charging capabilities for the big batteries that all electric & hybrids use. The customer waiting lounge is lacking the free cookies, popcorn, crackers, and soda fountain that other dealerships have. But, they do have a small Keurig pot with complimentary coffee, decaf, and green tea pods.

Service was fine, but horrible communication. They charged me nearly $150 labor to effectively unplug and plug back in my system to reset my computer and attempt an upgrade, as that was what the tech support guy at Ford wrongly told me on the phone was the only fix. Then, after "running a diagnostic," they told me I needed a $1000 part and never implied that this upgrade wouldn't be necessary to fix the problem I was having. I declined anyway because I can't afford it, and just assumed my SYNC would never work again and I was out the labor for nothing, something they should have known right away wouldn't be a cheap upgrade and didn't consult me about in advance beyond the labor cost to attempt the upgrade. FYI, disconnecting the battery for the upgrade or whatever fixed everything I was having issues with because it did a factory reset, which is what I had been saying was the one thing I couldn't try because the option went away in the menus, and which they could have easily tested by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it to see if my menus came back. So, I was basically advised by tech support to upgrade, advised by the service tech at Bob Thomas that "I'm required to tell you that it might not work" without any insights into why, paid an hour of labor to do an upgrade I didn't need just to get told the diagnostic said I needed a part, not being clear that the part was needed for the UPGRADE only not to make the system work because they apparently never tested that or just didn't want to tell me that it should work again after having been reset. Then, only after I was honest and upset in my survey sent from Ford did they seem to care to get my input, calling me now multiple times wanting information. Here is your information. Learn to communicate with customers for more than 2 minutes on the phone while trying to rush through repairs! Learn to communicate important information so that you get correct information to the customer clearly rather than trying to milk them for money right after X-mas on things they don't need and shouldn't have needed to spend so much money to get done "professionally." All they needed to do was reset the system and check if it was back. Aside from the recall, I didn't need anything done but maybe unhooking the battery and hooking it back up, something that shouldn't have needed an hour of labor. Make sure if you get work done here to ask these guys LOTS of questions! Make sure you understand what they are doing and why, and don't EVER let them valet your car so that you aren't there to talk to directly.

DO NOT take your vehicle to Bob thomas ford. I went in for a diagnostic and they broke a bolt to my transmission on May 23rd (making it make a funny noise right after i left and i called them IMMEDIATELY when i heard it). I was told that the tech noticed the bolt to my transmission was loose and he tried to tighten it and it sheard into my transition pan and they are refusing to fix the broken bolt saying that it was broken before I took it in, when i was told that they broke it but they never made a note on my paper work about it. When i called them about it both people i spoke to were incredibly rude. Now i have an un drivable car, because the noise makes me nervous to drive it since I have 2 children and dont want anything to happen with them in the car. WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. If I could give them zero stars I would.

Travis is extremely nice and personal. He went above and beyond to diagnosis and fix my vehicle. Great customer service. I’d buy from Bob Thomas again just for their service team.
