Bob's Auto Repair Introduce
For vehicle owners in Midland, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding areas, finding a local establishment for automotive repair is a common necessity. Bob's Auto Repair, located at 101 Midland Ave, Midland, PA 15059, USA, positions itself as one such service provider within the Auto Repair Stations category. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Bob's Auto Repair, drawing upon publicly available customer reviews to give local users a balanced perspective on what to expect from this business.
Bob's Auto Repair is situated on Midland Avenue, which is a key street in Midland, Pennsylvania. As an auto repair station, the facility's environment would typically be geared towards practical vehicle servicing. This would include one or more garage bays where mechanical work is performed, along with an area for vehicle parking. While specific details about the interior amenities, such as a customer waiting area, are not provided, most auto repair shops of this nature offer a basic space for clients during repairs. The primary focus of such an establishment is the technical aspect of vehicle repair and maintenance. The reviews, however, introduce some less conventional elements concerning the "environment," with one customer mentioning "drug addicts running in and out of his house." This aspect, if accurate, points to a potentially unprofessional atmosphere that could impact a customer's comfort and perception of the business's overall integrity and security. It is important for prospective customers to consider the impact of such descriptions on their comfort level.
As an "Auto Repair Station," Bob's Auto Repair is expected to provide a range of general automotive repair and diagnostic services. The detailed customer review highlights a specific service interaction involving a "camshaft sensor and gasket seal" fix, indicating the ability to perform engine-related repairs. Furthermore, the initial discussion about "diagnostics steps" and a list of checks suggests that Bob's Auto Repair aims to offer a systematic approach to identifying vehicle issues. Typically, an auto repair shop like this would handle:
- Vehicle Diagnostics: Using tools to read trouble codes and pinpoint vehicle malfunctions. The mention of a "simple sensor fix" for a specific code suggests this capability.
- Engine Repair: Addressing issues related to sensors, performance, and potentially more complex engine components.
- General Maintenance: Common services like oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
- Brake Services: Inspection and repair of brake systems.
- Suspension & Steering: Repairing components that affect vehicle handling.
- Electrical System Repair: Troubleshooting and fixing electrical issues.
The review also touches on the procurement of parts, with Bob reportedly stating he orders parts on his own account and receives a "40% to 60% discount on all parts." While this claim was later disputed by the customer, it implies a typical auto repair service model where parts are sourced by the mechanic and then installed for the customer.
Customer feedback provides a very mixed and contrasting view of Bob's Auto Repair, highlighting both positive and significant negative experiences:
- Service Speed (Contradictory): One positive review mentions "Very fast and friendly service" and getting the car "repaired and back on the road." This contrasts sharply with the extensive negative review where the truck sat for "2 weeks" and the repair was seemingly completed "within the hour" but led to "mass of codes and faults" immediately after. This suggests inconsistency in service delivery time and quality.
- Customer Demeanor (Contradictory): One review describes the service as "friendly" and praises Bob for "being kind and humble" and "Goes out of his way to help me." Conversely, the detailed negative review indicates a lack of fairness in pricing, dishonesty about parts costs, and a general feeling of being "scammed." This severe discrepancy in perceived character and customer treatment is a critical point for prospective clients.
- Pricing and Transparency (Major Concern): The most significant feature, and source of contention, is pricing and transparency. Bob reportedly offered "best prices around" and discounts for those with "less money." However, the customer's experience shows a quote escalation from $145 to $290 for a $53 part and job, and a subsequent refusal to provide a receipt for parts. This alleged lack of transparency and apparent mark-up, far beyond typical labor and part costs, is a major red flag for potential customers. The claim of "goes off of Google search as to what he’s going to charge you" further questions the basis of their pricing structure.
- Diagnostic Accuracy and Quality of Work (Major Concern): The truck developing "a mass of codes and faults" and "majority of issues that I didn’t have from before" immediately after a repair, coupled with a subsequent nearly $400 quote for what was now a worse problem, gravely questions the quality and accuracy of the initial repair. A repair shop should resolve issues, not introduce new, more complex ones.
- Trust and Reliability (Major Concern): The severe negative review explicitly states, "I do not trust him. He is not fair in his pricing. He does not do good business." The loss of keys and leaving the truck unlocked also indicate a lapse in security and care for customer property. Trust is paramount in auto repair, and these concerns are deeply damaging.
The stark difference between the experiences means that while some customers might have a positive interaction, there's a significant risk of encountering serious issues related to pricing, transparency, and quality of work. The very severe claims made by the detailed negative review cannot be overlooked when considering this business.
Bob's Auto Repair, as a local independent shop, would likely rely on word-of-mouth and repeat business. The initial claims of "best prices around" and helping those with "less money" suggest a promotional strategy centered on affordability and community support. However, the contradicting customer experience regarding pricing severely undermines this. For any current offerings or to inquire about services, direct contact is necessary.
Customers can reach Bob's Auto Repair using the following contact details:

- Mobile Phone: +1 878-264-0007
The address, 101 Midland Ave, Midland, PA 15059, USA, places them in a specific, accessible location within Midland. Given the serious concerns raised in one of the reviews, particularly regarding trust, pricing, and quality of work, prospective customers are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution. It would be prudent to get detailed written estimates, clarify all charges, and understand their policies before committing to any service. In an industry where reliability is key, thorough due diligence is essential when considering a service provider with such varied customer experiences.
In conclusion, Bob's Auto Repair in Midland, PA, functions as a local Auto Repair Station. While some customers have reported positive and quick service, a highly detailed review raises significant concerns about pricing transparency, the quality of repairs, and trustworthiness, including issues with property security and the overall business environment. For local users in Midland seeking automotive repair, it is crucial to carefully weigh these contrasting experiences and proceed with clear communication and verified agreements if choosing to engage their services.

Bob's Auto Repair Customer Reviews
I would not even give a one star if I had the option, but my story must be told! I spoke with Bob about checking over a vehicle that I have that has been causing me a lot of issues. I asked him what his diagnostics steps were and what all he checks. He showed me a list of what all he does when a car comes into the shop and told me that it would cost $75. He also told me that he Only fixes cars when ordering parts on his own account, in which he showed me invoices of parts that he had purchased where he has between a 40% to 60% discount on all parts. He stated that he has the best prices around and that he will take care of those that have less money because he knows how it is just to be clear. I feel like if you do the job and you do it right you deserve to be paid. I ended up having issues with my truck, and after researching the issue with my truck, it was a simple sensor fix that would cost me $53. I did not cross reference prices. I just knew what the code was and had an idea on how to fix it however, I am not a mechanic took my truck to Bob told him what the code was. He called the parts store got off the phone and quoted me $145 before tax for a camshaft sensor and gasket seal explain to me that he could do the job for $120 went to his workbench calculated everything and told me that the price would be 280 something dollars or I could round it up to 290 I said go ahead and round it up to 290 so that my vehicle would be fixed and thanked him. I left my truck there went home and within the hour got a call that my truck was done excited I went back down to get my truck a day later I had a mass of codes and faults truck was idling, rough stalling out and all a majority of issues that I didn’t have from before took it back to Bob. He quoted me another almost $400. I told him I would have to talk to my boyfriend about this called the parts store found out that the parts that he had ordered was only a fraction of the price that he had quoted me to begin with. In the meantime, I had another vehicle there which I was quoted $75 for and ended up getting a text message stating that I had to pay $100 when I went to pick it up in short, I expressed how I did not like to be scammed and asked for a receipt for the parts that he purchased for my truck which he could not find any longer. I have been asking for a refund because I do not feel like he did the job and I now have a lot more problems with my truck than I did to begin with. I do not trust him. He is not fair in his pricing. He goes off of Google search as to what he’s going to charge you he does not show you the price of the parts I could have spared myself unnecessary headaches, and money had I not been so desperate in wanting to make sure that my vehicle was fixed. I do not recommend him. He does not do good business. He has drug addicts running in and out of his house, had I known all of this prior I would have never stopped there. I hope my review helps somebody else that might be desperate and needing their car fixed. Do yourself a favor and find somebody else even if you have to wait longer…
