Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair Introduce

Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair, located at 2604 Southern Blvd SE in Rio Rancho, NM 87124, positions itself as an "Auto Repair Station" within the local community, suggesting it offers a range of services for both general automotive needs and specialized 4x4 vehicles. As an auto repair station, the expectation is that they provide competent vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure the safe and proper functioning of automobiles for their customers. However, based on recent customer reviews, it is important to provide an objective and cautious overview of this establishment.

The environment at Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair, as perceived through customer experiences, appears to be a functional garage setting, typical of an auto repair shop. It would presumably have bays for vehicles, lifts, and the necessary tools for mechanical work. The name itself, "Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair," implies a focus on larger, off-road vehicles in addition to standard cars, suggesting a specialized setup for heavy-duty repairs and modifications. However, the customer reviews describe a less than ideal operational environment, particularly concerning the quality control and meticulousness of the work performed. Issues like improperly torqued bolts, unsecured fuel lines, and loose spark plugs indicate a lack of attention to detail during the repair process. This suggests that while the physical environment may contain the necessary equipment, the execution within that environment, and the subsequent quality of the output, are areas of significant concern as reported by customers.

The services offered by Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair, as indicated by its name and customer feedback, include general auto repair and specialized 4x4 services. This would typically encompass engine work (such as the engine swap mentioned in a review), transmission services, and various other mechanical repairs common to both standard vehicles and 4x4s, including suspension work. The "4x4" designation suggests expertise in driveline components, transfer cases, differentials, lift kits, and other modifications popular with off-road enthusiasts. However, the detailed accounts from customers raise serious questions about the competence and thoroughness of these services. The review mentions specific issues like a botched engine swap leading to transmission problems, coolant leaks due to untorqued bolts, fuel spraying from improperly secured lines, and dangerous wiring. Another customer reported significant damage to a transfer case during a requested service. These accounts suggest that while the shop may advertise a broad range of services, the actual execution and quality control may fall far short of industry standards, potentially leaving vehicles in worse condition than when they arrived.

The features that should ideally define a reputable "Auto Repair Station" include skilled technicians, transparent communication, and reliable workmanship. However, based on the provided customer reviews for Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair, these features appear to be significantly lacking. The primary concerns highlighted by customers include: **poor workmanship and negligence**, leading to new problems and unsafe conditions (e.g., finger-tight spark plugs, exposed splices, destroyed parts); **lack of technical expertise**, particularly with specialized components like a Saturn overdrive; **unacceptable communication**, characterized by "new excuse every week" and lack of proactive updates; and potentially **dishonest practices**, such as offering "non matching parts saying they were mine" and not returning all components. The immense financial and emotional cost to customers, with one reporting $10,000 in labor for "sloppy" work, indicates a severe departure from expected professional standards. While the shop's name might imply expertise in 4x4s, the experiences described paint a picture of significant deficiencies in service delivery across various repair types.

Given the strongly negative nature of the provided customer reviews, any "promotional information" for Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair would need to be viewed with extreme caution. The most impactful promotion, or rather, deterrent, for this establishment, according to the available information, is the firsthand accounts of former customers. Phrases like "Save your money, your car, and your sanity—take your business elsewhere" and "I have never seen such negligence" serve as powerful warnings to potential clients. While the business has a physical address (2604 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124) and phone numbers ((505) 891-8926 and +1 505-891-8926) for inquiries, these are merely points of contact, not endorsements of service quality. For local users in Rio Rancho, the objective information available on the internet, particularly from these detailed customer reviews, suggests a significant risk in entrusting their vehicles to Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair. The negative experiences, ranging from incompetent repairs to alleged destruction of parts and potential dishonesty, strongly indicate that prospective customers should exercise extreme due diligence and consider alternative "Auto Repair Stations" in the area that have more consistently positive feedback regarding their quality of work and customer service.

Big Time 4X4 & Auto Repair Customer Reviews

Took my beloved 1977 Chevy Nova to Big Time 4x4 for what should’ve been a straightforward engine swap—yanking the stock straight-six for a snarling 383 stroker we provided, along with various components. We’re car guys, but time was tight, so we trusted these “pros” to handle it. Big mistake. This shop’s work was so sloppy it makes a toddler’s finger-painting look like a masterpiece. Initially, the car ran “okay,” but that’s like saying a blind date was “fine” right before they steal your wallet. The transmission shifted like it was auditioning for a horror movie, all jerky and unpredictable. Three weeks later, a coolant leak sprung up because—get this—the water pump bolts were basically just vibing, not even torqued down. A few weeks after that, fuel started spraying from the tank like a low-budget fountain show. Why? The mechanic thought a 6AN fuel line could be secured with a dollar-store hose clamp. Genius. At this point, we popped the hood for a closer look, and oh boy, it was like peeling back the curtain on a circus of incompetence. Three spark plugs were finger-tight, just chilling like they were on vacation. The wiring loom? A rat’s nest of exposed splices that screamed “fire hazard.” We had to go through every inch of their work to avoid a full-blown disaster. In the end, we dropped $10,000 on labor that was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Save your money, your car, and your sanity—take your business elsewhere unless you want your classic ride turned into a rolling Pinterest fail.

I Took my jeep to this place with a simple request. I heard new excuse every week why it was not done. In addition it was returned to me in much worse shape than when sent in. The reason- he did not know how to disassemble my transfer case with a Saturn overdrive. He torched my old stuff literally destroyed the overdrive. His solution-offer me non matching parts saying they were mine. I did not get all of my things back- not even my transmission cross member which was custom for my jeep. I have never seen such negligence

A part of my transmission was broken, and they said they could get it done and replace the transmission. They stated they could get it done relatively quickly, but I told him there was no rush and told him I needed it done in 3 months for a trip out of state, and it never was completed. Every time I called, it was, Don't worry, I'll take care of you, and just all this fluff talk. It came to the point that he threw the truck back together last minute, like literally the day I was leaving, and stated it was road worth they checked everything and said it'd be good to drive and I could bring it back after my multistate trip to finish they already 3-month repair. Well, when I picked it up, the oil was low, the battery was dead and needed to be replaced, the tires were almost double the PSI, and now there is a transmission leak that was not there before I brought it in(leaking from the front of the transmission when the issue was a part connected to the back of the transmission). I decided not to have him finish the work and said I wanted a refund of the few thousand for parts and labor for the transmission outside the other work he did, and it took over a month and a half with me coming in and calling him multiple times. It's just the same old thing. We are working on it. Don't worry; we're just waiting on some things. I still need work on this truck, but it won't be from this shop. I wish I would have talked to a few people around before giving him my business because durning all this, other people stated bad service here as well.

Had a bad starter on my jeep renegade. Went to multiple shops to get it replaced but all turn me down. I gave Big Time a call and they said they'll do it. Got it back a few days no problems.

I give this place 5 stars because they fit me in the same day, no notice, to fix my broken shock on my lifted F-350, no questions asked. Then when it was done in shorter amount of time, instead of charging me the quoted labor, he charged me less, talk about integrity, honesty, and service. I think I'm ditching my old mechanic for this one, way better!! Definitely worth checking out, especially with that type of service, I'm sold! Update*** I needed some suspension work done and I went back because I love this place, plus no ones else has enough guts to touch a F-350, jk you need a really big lift and they have one here and the experience to boot. The wonderful guys here custom order the parts I needed to fix my bad boy and even were kind enough to give me a lift home, talk about service. Now, my F-350 handles like a beast again.
