Big O Tires Introduce

Big O Tires, located at 3215 Mall View Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93306, USA, is a well-known establishment within the expansive Auto Repair Stations category. As part of a national franchise, this location serves local users in Bakersfield, CA, offering a range of automotive services primarily focused on tires, but also extending to general vehicle maintenance. For direct contact, customers can reach them at (661) 371-4193 or via mobile at +1 661-371-4193.

Big O Tires, as a prominent entity within the Auto Repair Stations category, provides a broad spectrum of services designed to address common vehicle needs. Their core business, as suggested by the name, revolves around tires. This includes the sale of new tires from various major brands, as well as their proprietary Big O brand tires, tire installation, mounting, balancing, rotation, and flat tire repair. Beyond tires, Big O Tires locations typically offer a variety of other essential auto maintenance and repair services. These commonly include oil changes (with options for synthetic blend or full synthetic oil), brake inspections and repairs, wheel alignments, battery checks and replacement, suspension and front-end services, and routine fluid services such as radiator coolant flushes, transmission fluid exchanges, and fuel system cleanings. Some locations also offer wiper blade replacement and headlight/taillight inspections. The comprehensive nature of these services aims to position Big O Tires as a one-stop shop for basic to moderate automotive care, allowing customers to address multiple vehicle needs at a single location.

The environment at Big O Tires, particularly the 3215 Mall View Rd location, appears to present a mixed experience for customers based on available reviews. While some customers report positive interactions, others highlight areas for significant improvement. A common theme in negative feedback suggests issues with efficiency and customer communication. Customers have reported extended wait times, even with appointments, and a lack of transparency regarding delays or issues with tire availability. The perceived lack of active management presence and engagement with the team, as well as staff appearing disengaged, can contribute to a less professional and reassuring environment. However, conversely, other reviews for Big O Tires locations generally praise aspects like cleanliness of the facility and helpfulness of staff, indicating that the environment can be positive when operations are running smoothly. The presence of a waiting area is typical for such establishments, where customers might wait for services to be completed. The overall impression of the environment heavily depends on individual experiences, with some customers finding it frustrating due to operational shortcomings, while others experience prompt and satisfactory service.

The services at Big O Tires, as a whole, aim to be comprehensive for routine auto care. However, the specific location on Mall View Rd has received feedback that raises concerns about the execution of these services. For tire services, while they offer purchases and installations, one customer reported issues with tires not being in stock despite an appointment and being overinflated after installation, which is a significant safety concern. For oil changes, another customer reported a critical error where the drain plug was not properly tightened, leading to an oil leak, indicating a lapse in basic mechanical procedures. This suggests inconsistencies in the quality of service delivery for even fundamental automotive tasks. Despite these negative experiences, the range of services officially offered by Big O Tires includes specialized tire repair (including RMA-approved internal puncture repair), wheel balancing, and tire rotation. For non-tire services, they are equipped for engine diagnostics (including free check engine light code scans), and brake system inspections and repairs. The brand's commitment to vehicle safety and performance, as advertised on their corporate website, implies the availability of certified technicians and proper equipment to perform these services, though the customer reviews for this specific location suggest that execution may vary.

The features of Big O Tires, as a franchise, typically include a nationwide warranty protection on services, a wide selection of tire brands (including their own Big O brand), and various promotional offers. They often boast ASE-certified technicians, aiming to ensure quality service. For the 3215 Mall View Rd location, however, specific features perceived by customers include long wait times, inconsistent service quality, and a perceived lack of integrity or care from some staff members, particularly concerning attention to detail in basic services like oil changes and tire pressure. The negative reviews highlight a significant feature of perceived poor management and a lack of accountability, with customers feeling their concerns are not adequately addressed. Conversely, when services are performed well, the features valued by customers are the convenience of a nearby location, the availability of tires, and the potential for quick service (as evidenced by some positive reviews for other Big O locations indicating fast tire rotations). The brand emphasizes 'The Team You Trust' as a motto, which aims to convey reliability and customer focus. However, the experiences at this particular location, as described, do not consistently align with this brand promise, indicating a potential disconnect between corporate standards and local execution.

In terms of promotional information, Big O Tires, as a national chain, frequently runs various deals and specials to attract customers. These often include savings on sets of four tires, discounts on oil changes (sometimes bundled with complimentary tire rotation and multi-point vehicle inspection), free alignment checks (with discounts on full alignments), free brake inspections, and savings on wiper blades and battery replacements. They also offer "Road Trip Ready" specials that bundle services like oil changes and tire rotations. For commercial clients, Big O Tires offers "Fleet Services." While these national promotions are likely available at the Bakersfield location, the strong negative customer feedback for this specific branch serves as a significant counter-promotion. Reviews explicitly advise potential customers to "take your cars elsewhere" and state that the place "doesn't care about you." This kind of direct customer sentiment can significantly override any official promotional efforts, as negative word-of-mouth and online reviews are highly influential in today's market. The challenge for this particular Big O Tires location is to reconcile these negative experiences with the corporate brand's image and promotional messaging, demonstrating a commitment to improved service quality and customer satisfaction to regain trust within the local community.

Big O Tires Customer Reviews

Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone after my experience. Had an appointment for 8am for only two tires. I showed up a little early and was told it was no problem and they started to work on my car. Well what I didn’t know was that this place didn’t even have the tires I needed in stock at the time of my appointment, never told me about having to get them from another place, and also had me sitting there for almost 2 hours after being told time after time “15 more minutes”. After an hour and 30 minutes go by, I start asking questions and why it’s taking so long? Also the gentleman in the black shirt who I’m guessing was the manager, was just on the phone most of the time I was there and didn’t help his team once. I go outside to look at the car and see some older guy just eating and not paying any attention to the cars that need work. Then when someone did go into the bay, I overhear the cashier start talking about how I’m watching them and they need to start working. I guess the tire tech didn’t like me questioning why he was taking so long and seemed irritated after he handed me the keys. Well I had a weird feeling after leaving and good thing I checked before going back up the mountain, because they were overfilled by more than the limit on the actually tire (44 psi max). If a tire popped on my way home I could have been seriously hurt or worse. Please take your cars elsewhere. This place doesn’t care about you.

This shop needs better management, loyalty, and integrity. Honesty for the most part.. I ask for good service, now days it seems ppl don't want to work and do their job! You're getting paid to do what you applied for when you applied to the company. If they don't pay you guys enough, how about finding a better place and don't be lazy. I asked for a simple task, my car needs a motor oil change, how do you guys forget to tighten up the screw that holds the oil inside the pan.. that's my first vehicle, my second vehicle, another easy task, motor oil change, I told the counter guy, can you replace my screw it seems to be stripped, I come to find out he never did his job. I got one more for you guys smh.. I bought new tires for my vehicle, 5 days later I get a nail and flat, ok on my receipt it says if anything happens to my tires withing certain miles, they will replace that tire, with a new tire, so I go back to the shop I'm the only customer, and I asked for a new tire because I just bought 4 tires 5 days ago.. apparently they patched it, because I have to add air to that tire once a week... good job guys! You guys don't care, you already have enough customers, let me run your shop , I guarantee your sales will increase up 50% more a week.. if I gotta show you guys how to work and manage call me email me, this shop is bad and it's giving BIG O TIRES a bad name! Big O tires just lost a customer! I'll never go back unless they clean up that whole shop with workers who care about there job.

Sorry for the long read. I went in to get an oil change and balance tires. An hour past promised time, told my 2 year old tires needed to be replaced. They showed me one was internally failing so I agreed to replace all four. They only had 3 tires in stock so I replaced those and would back to replace the 4th. When I got home I noticed the bad tire was left on the truck. Dropped it back off for the 4th and when drove home there was crazy amount of vibration. The wheel weights had been left on even though they said they put beads inside the tire so I had go back again. Also noticed valve stem caps were missing. I took the truck to another shop for alignment due to ongoing vibration issues. They advised me the tires were trash and recommended I see if I can exchange them. They described exactly what I felt while driving so I trusted their opinion. I asked the manager about return policy and he danced around the return and said I can exchange and pay difference. I dropped the truck off and paid for upgraded tires. Tire pressure light was on and I noticed one of the tires looked low. While putting air in I noticed the damage to the wheels. All four wheels have been scratched and one had black marker attempting to cover the scratches and the faux bead locks were smashed or broken off completely. I removed the center caps and the back two wheels were missing a lug nut on each. I called corporate and was told I would receive a call in three days. After a week with no call I reached back out and was told they were just a call center and nothing can be done I would need to wait. A few days later I tracked down the district manager. He told me they would make it right so I sent him the info on July 19th and he said he would order replacement wheels. On august 2nd he texted me to let me know the wheels are in but I would need to go to white Ln. The next day I went to pick them up and was told he had to get them from Ming ave so I had to wait. Waited only to find out they were the wrong wheel so we agreed if I purchased the wheels elsewhere and sent him the receipt he would cut a check from their insurance so I replaced them and sent the receipt, a month later still have not been paid. I am still having vibration issues and was told by the second shop that the vibration is from out of round tires and sent me videos of them spinning. I reached out to the district manager about the wheels and tires several times with no response. Have now reached out to the franchise owner and was told response would be next day, 3 days later still no response.

I’ve been going to this shop for a few years but this year it’s been awful. July I went in for new front tires and the guy with seeing glasses was looking for excuses not to honor my warranty. Finally, after going back and forth, he admitted they failed to rotate my tires, even though I went in on time for rotations, per the warranty. They just installed the 2 new tires, no balance or rotation, decided not to put the cap on the new passenger front tire, or air it up properly. My light went off 5 minutes after I left. I went by somewhere else to have it aired up, and it continues to lose air at least twice a month. I went back in September for rotation they still did not put the cap back on. I had to have it aired up again today, and learned the cap is still missing. I called, and they tired to say I ran over something in July right after left, but for some reason they didn’t catch it September when I went back for balance and rotation. When I called bs on that, they tired to say i was due to come in anyways but i have 3000+ miles still. These people are liars and will say anything not honor their warranty and the malicious backlash and attitude not airing up tires correctly or putting on the valve caps is dangerous to the public. The customer service has gone down at this location from where it was 5 years ago! They’re going to cause an accident!!!

I used this location for my tires on multiple occasions. They state that they balance the tires on the receipt. I had to bring my truck back to them to get the tires balanced and they only balanced 2 of 4. They then called me a liar. The owner tries to appear helpful by giving contact information but nobody will get back to you. Les Schwab is around the corner and way better.
